Now Available Updated Version of Backup Software for Service Providers and ROBOs

CHENNAI, INDIA–(Marketwire - July 30, 2007) - Vembu Technologies, a fast-growing provider of backup and storage solutions for Service Providers and Remote & Branch Offices (ROBOs) today unveiled its expansion strategy to increase the Company’s brand awareness and market share in the USA, Canada and Europe. Today, Vembu also presented the latest version of its backup software for Windows, Linux, Mac and open source operating systems. StoreGrid’s Service Provider Edition, targeted at Service Providers offering online backup services to SMBs supports any form of disk-to-disk (D2D) backup and allows Service Providers to backup their customers’ workstations and servers to a remote backup server managed by the provider. In addition to common user data, StoreGrid supports backups for SQL & MySQL, Exchange Server Backup and Active Directory/System State Backup. The powerful server replication functionality ensures easy data restores in case of a major data loss occurrence, and also facilitates staged backup solutions wherein offices can backup to a server in their internal network and selectively replicate data to an offsite server.

Over the next two years, Vembu will focus on building partnerships with service providers and channel organisations in key target regions, and on increasing its sales footprint and mindshare among potential partners and end users. In addition, the Company will continue to incorporate direct feedback from existing clients towards developing StoreGrid and ensuring it meets market requirements. Vembu already counts clients in industries such as media, web-hosting and education, across countries including the USA, Canada, the UK, Poland and Sweden. Current StoreGrid users include the Canadian Sub-Surface Energy Services, the Orange County Government Online, the Virginia National Bank, and the Georgetown University Medical Center in the USA. In Europe, the list features iTransact (UK), Itineris (UK), Designsmart (UK), OMD Poland and the Institute of Automation in Brehmen, Germany.

“StoreGrid is simply the best backup solution we have ever come across. Astonishing flexibility and a powerful backup engine, combined with ease of use and excellent support, makes StoreGrid the No. 1 remote backup software on the market,” said Petter Sehlin, President at Digital Information AB in Sweden. “We are committed to bringing our customers the best within managed services, StoreGrid is an important part of that commitment.”

Through the highly intuitive interface, users can easily and quickly restore files, carry out multiple full backups, share and/or email reports, schedule operations including CDP tasks, initiate backups locally and continue remotely, and generate detailed reports. In addition, all flavours of StoreGrid feature Vembu’s Intelli-Delta Technology which ensures that after the first backup, changes in files and/or directories are automatically detected and backed up; this accelerates the process and reduces the amount of data that needs backing up. Security is ensured by up to 448 bit military-strength encryption based on the Blowfish algorithm.

Vembu’s StoreGrid offers a number of benefits including:

– Flexibility: it works with ‘off the shelf’ hardware and across diverse operating systems, making it ideal for deployment in heterogeneous environments.

– Ease of management: one solution for all forms of data backup.

– Low TCO: an affordable price without compromising on performance.

– Low overheads: requires minimal CPU and memory to operate.

– Ease of use: intuitive browser-based graphical user interface.

“Online backup is a booming market today. While everyone is aware of the need to protect their data, many smaller organisations do not want to pour financial and human resources into purchasing, deploying and managing the related hardware and software. The outsourced online backup model is the way forward and we are planning to become a leading player in this space by building on our existing success,” said Lakshmanan Narayan, VP of Marketing at Vembu. “StoreGrid is ideal for Service Providers looking to offer businesses and individuals an exhaustive data protection solution that generates healthy margins while demanding little overhead costs. We are looking forward to striking partnerships with leading and emerging service providers around the world.”
