InfiniVault™ Archive Appliance Combines Archive Intelligence with RDX® Removable Disk Media in a Single System to Optimize Corporate Archive and Compliance Operations Storage Networking World Fall 2007
Booth C-7
BOULDER, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–ProStor Systems, a leading developer of removable disk storage solutions, today announced the world’s first removable disk archive system for small and medium enterprises. Built around market-leading RDX® removable disk technology, ProStor’s new InfiniVault™ archive appliance provides organizations with an archiving solution that delivers a fast, secure and reliable archival storage platform for long-term data preservation, e-discovery and regulatory compliance in a single, integrated system.
By leveraging RDX removable disk technology, ProStor has created an easy-to-deploy archiving system that combines the performance and rapid retrieval of fixed-disk archive solutions with the unlimited capacity, scalability and disaster recovery protection of removable disk media, in an all-in-one design that is far more reliable than tape and much lower cost than fixed-disk archive systems. With its removable disk cartridges, InfiniVault provides safe off-site archival storage for up to 30 years.
Businesses and government agencies will save storage costs, simplify regulatory compliance management, and safely archive their information assets, such as email, electronic documents, graphics, x-rays, images, digital MRIs, photographs and videos, using InfiniVault’s groundbreaking unified archive architecture. InfiniVault combines active archive and compliance intelligence with proven RDX removable disk to provide fast online access, scalable nearline retrieval and infinite offline storage in a single easy-to-use system. The embedded Archive Compliance Engine (ACE) features write-once data immutability, archive management, automated file retention policies, security, removable media management and automatic data protection.
“We chose ProStor’s new archive appliance because we needed an archive solution that would help us reduce our storage costs and meet regulatory compliance in a simple-to-deploy system,” said Dr. Matt Fleishman, partner and information officer of Radiology Imaging Associates. “We believe the InfiniVault, with its unique combination of archive management intelligence and fast, secure removable disk media, is the most complete archiving solution for our corporate needs.”
InfiniVault Saves Users Money Deploying an InfiniVault archive appliance into an enterprise storage infrastructure enables customers to reclaim valuable primary storage. This limits the need for acquiring additional expensive primary disk capacity and shortens backup windows, resulting in lower storage management costs and improved operational efficiencies. The InfiniVault also uses fewer power and cooling resources. The overall impact of installing an InfiniVault appliance is an expected ROI in less than one year, along with a five to ten times return over five years.
“Users are increasingly looking to secondary disk systems that can support multiple applications,” said Heidi Biggar, analyst with Enterprise Strategy Group. “ProStor’s new InfiniVault archive system provides this flexibility, allowing users to meet both archiving and compliance requirements from a single platform. The fact that the system also integrates the company’s RDX removable disk cartridges is an added bonus, obviating the need for less-efficient tape and optical technologies for long-term on-site and off-site data retention.”
InfiniVault Automates Compliance The core functionality built into the InfiniVault archive appliance makes it ideal for regulatory compliance. ProStor’s integrated Archive Compliance Engine provides a complete audit trail for every file to create a chain of custody report, while content addressable storage functionality verifies all content to ensure the integrity of the data. The combination of flexible retention management, WORM throughout the system for unalterable files, data encryption to meet privacy requirements and digital “shredding” for secure file deletion makes the InfiniVault a simple, automated compliance solution for most government regulations. Additionally, the rapid file search and recovery enabled by the RDX removable disk technology meets the requirements of Federal Rules of Civil Procedures in legal holds and e-discovery. Privacy is assured with InfiniVault managing all encryption keys associated with each individual file.
The InfiniVault Product Family The InfiniVault product suite is available in three configurations designed to fit in various small and mid-sized enterprises.
The InfiniVault Model 3 is designed for small businesses and remote offices. The Model 3 archive appliance is an integrated tower system with up to 1.6 TB of online and nearline storage and infinite offline capacity. The InfiniVault Model 3 MSLP is $10,995.
The InfiniVault Model 30 is designed for small to medium enterprises that need a flexible, cost-effective archive solution. The Model 30 archive appliance is an integrated rack-mount system with up to 11 TB of online and nearline storage and infinite offline capacity. The InfiniVault Model 30 MSLP starts at $29,995.
The InfiniVault Model 100 is designed for midsized enterprises that need a flexible archive solution that can store large amounts of archive data online. The Model 100 archive appliance is an integrated rack-mount system with up to 39 TB of online and nearline storage and infinite offline capacity. The InfiniVault Model 100 MSLP starts at $74,995.
“The InfiniVault archive appliance is a benchmark product for ProStor Systems, both with the technology breakthroughs we’ve achieved and with the launch of a new business segment for the company in selling our own branded solutions through channel partners,” said Steve Georgis, President and CEO of ProStor. “No other archiving and compliance solution can match the set of user benefits delivered by InfiniVault.”
Simplicity is a key design element of the InfiniVault platform, allowing customers to install, configure and start using the appliance in 30 minutes or less. The RDX removable disk technology provides investment protection with both forward and backward compatibility forever, unlike tape and optical disc storage solutions. The durability of RDX disk technology has been validated by an in-depth study by Percept Technology Labs, an independent product testing and consulting company. The study, announced today, concludes that RDX removable disk technology has been proven to provide long-term preservation of digital data with an archive life of at least 30 years, verifying RDX as the most advanced removable storage medium for the long-term preservation of digital data.
The entire InfiniVault archive appliance product suite is sold through a network of high-value resellers in North America, and will be generally available in the first quarter of 2008. InfiniVault will be unveiled for the first time at the Storage Networking World Trade Show in Dallas from Oct. 15-18, 2007 in Booth C-7.
