Respected security vendor Webroot announced it has begun offering a secure online backup service. In the crowded online backup service market, one that promises more security for your files in the cloud can only be a good thing. Webroot’s new Webroot Secure Backup software-plus-Web service offers a comprehensive approach to online backup security. Webroot Secure Backup is the company’s first software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering to consumers, but the product also includes local backup software using the same interface. Existing online backup services HP Upline and SOS Online Backup offer both local and Web-based backup, so this is not a first. Webroot Secure Backup will let users store up to 50GB of data and can protect up to three computers.
