New 2009 advanced features designed to provide smarter and safer protection against online threat for families, children and busy professionals

Trend Micro, Incorporated (TSE: 4704) launched its 2009 version of its flagship consumer products in Singapore today. Trend Micro™ AntiVirus, Trend Micro™ Internet Security and Trend Micro™ Internet Security Pro keep consumers’ data and personal information secure from online threats by delivering smart security solutions that can respond and adapt to users’ needs. The products are powered by the Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network, a cloud-client security infrastructure that correlates Web and e-mail threat data by using reputation technologies that compare threats against in-the-cloud threat databases.

“In this year’s release, we focused on developing products that offer smarter protection against data-stealing threats, along with the smallest impact on computer resources. Customers will experience up to over 40 per cent lower memory usage and nearly 50 per cent faster boot-up time,” said Eric Chong, Asia Pacific Marketing Director for the Consumer Business unit. “With the Smart Protection Network, Trend Micro offers our customers the strongest real-time protection against the latest Internet threats while enjoying online activities to the fullest,” added Eric.

Advanced Parental Controls

With advanced parental controls, parents can better tailor controls for each family member. New functionalities include the ability to restrict the date and time each child can go on the Internet while blocking undesirable content with more than 20 categories of website filters to choose from. Parents also have the option to specify categories of information (such as home addresses, telephone numbers, passwords, etc.) they do not wish to be sent from a computer.

Enhanced Home Network Protection

The enhanced Home Network Protection enables users to manage security of multiple computers easily. Users can see and remotely manage other computers in their home network through a graphical home network map while blocking intruders from accessing their network.

Advance Warning

Trend Micro’s enhanced Web Threat Protection now warns users of malicious content received via email, instant messages (IM) and Web Pages. The email, IM and Webpage rating features provide colour coded alerts to advise users of potentially dangerous links and websites that they should avoid, even before they click on them.

In addition, the Security Activity Dashboard gives users a comprehensive and customisable snapshot of all the security activities on their computers through easy-to-use charts and graphs. By learning more about when and how their computers can be attacked, users can surf more securely and intelligently.

Uninterrupted Usage

With State Aware, users no longer get interruptions from scanning and pop-up during full screen mode activities such as watching a DVD, conducting a PowerPoint presentation or playing a computer game.

Trend Micro Mobile Security

For those who would like to extend Trend Micro protection to their smart phones, Trend Micro Internet Security Pro offers mobile security against viruses, SMS text message spam, malware attacks, data theft and service disruptions – especially useful for busy professionals on-the-go.
