Offering back-up as a service to customers can be a great business model, but according to Asigra, itself a provider of back-up products, there are several pitfalls the channel should be aware of when choosing a back-up vendor to work with.

Much of the advice of Dan Phillips, vice president of channels at Asigra, comes back to doing simple due diligence on a vendor and its products before making a final decision. While there are several ways to get into delivering online back-up services, not all make sense for every VAR or MSP, he said.
