Oosah uses existing RSS and data feeds from sites like Twitter, YouTube, Craigslist, MySpace and Flickr to allow consumers to create embeddable, rich-media widgets

News Facts

  • Oosah®, the online multimedia management hub that gives users 1 TB (1,024 GB) of free storage, is extending the capabilities of its Oosahs (easily customizable & embeddable rich-media widgets) to include the ability to display content from RSS and data feeds from popular sites like Twitter, YouTube, Craigslist, MySpace and Flickr.
  • Now, consumers will be able to show their favorite content from major sites and consolidate it into a single, linkable, shareable, embeddable widget without having to create an Oosah account. Oosahs can be embedded into blogs, websites, social networking pages, or e-mailed to friends.
  • In just three easy steps, both novice and expert users can create customized rich-media Oosahs with their favorite content from across the Web:

1)       Select a site from which to aggregate content (Twitter, Craigslist, YouTube, MySpace, etc.).

2)       Choose the Oosah type (Media Gallery, Media Playlist, Micro-playlist, or Slideshow) to match the visual format that best suits the content they’re displaying (i.e. a Media Playlist of a user’s favorite YouTube videos, or a Media Gallery showing pictures of a user’s Twitter followers and their updates).

3)       Pick a feed (i.e. for YouTube, you can select either a personal account or pre-defined feeds such as “top-rated”).

Optional: You can further personalize your Oosahs by selecting a color, or skip and opt for the default settings.

  • Oosahs leverage existing RSS or data feeds, therefore they are automatically updated whenever the underlying RSS or data feeds change. This means that users can be confident that their Oosahs are always up-to-date and don’t have to be rebuilt, re-embedded, linked, or shared each time the underlying content is updated.
  • In addition to displaying content from feeds, users can create Oosahs by dragging and dropping pictures, videos and music from their personal Oosah accounts, which allow direct access to their Facebook, Picasa and YouTube accounts.
  • Oosah lets users store, organize and manage their photos, videos and music in one place including multimedia from their computer, digital camera and across the Web via sites such as Facebook, Flickr, Picasa and YouTube. Oosah boasts a superior user interface, and desktop-like file management system, called Oosah Media ExplorerTM.

Quotes, attributable to Oosah executives:

  • “Consumers are increasingly using the Internet as their platform of choice for viewing and sharing media with their families, friends, business associates and customers,” said Dan Khasis, Oosah cofounder and chief technical officer. “We felt that what was needed now was a way to make it simpler for users to collect and share content from popular websites. Our new Oosahs capability addresses this need.”
  • “The new Oosahs capability extends our existing line of rich-media widgets by letting users populate them with content taken directly from other leading websites. Now, by using the new Oosahs feature that lets you syndicate multiple feeds from other sites, users now can share their favorite content much more easily than they could before,” said Mike Duggan, Oosah vice president and chief operating officer. “Whether users pull content from live RSS or data feeds for personal expression, or to promote and enhance their business activities, we think they will find these new capabilities extremely useful.”
  • “The new Oosahs capability gives users more control over, and new options for defining their online presence by making content more portable and accessible than ever before. Additionally, it gives users four distinct presentation formats, as well as the ability to pick the border colors for each widget, so they can customize Oosahs to meet their needs,” said Dan Khasis, Oosah cofounder and chief technology officer. “Now consumers have options for organizing and sharing content using our new Oosahs feature than they ever had before: They can link or embed them into their social networking pages, personal or business websites, or even e-mail them to their friends or associates.”
