March 10, 2009 EMERYVILLE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–ADrive™ announces the release of ADrive Desktop, a desktop backup client designed to simplify backup and recovery tasks for Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. This latest ADrive feature is now available to Signature and Premium customers at www.ADrive.com. ADrive Desktop makes the online storage of files and folders easier than ever by allowing customers to backup and restore files directly from multiple computers to their ADrive account, consolidating all of their files to a single online location for ease of use and access. It also serves as a reliable tool for small and medium businesses as well as larger enterprise customers to leverage volume capacity discounts when backing up diverse laptop and desktop infrastructures. ADrive Desktop is simple enough for basic consumers to start backing up their important files within minutes. This new tool is also flexible enough for a customer who might use Windows at work and Mac and Linux systems at home to backup all of their systems to one single account. ADrive Desktop finally gives consumers a unified place to backup all of their files, instead of segregated backups for each computer. The user interface is consistent and uniform across all operating systems, making it easy to set up and use on various platforms—a perfect solution for modern families with multiple computers. “It was essential to us that ADrive Desktop would be compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux because we realize that there is a varied community of customers with unique needs in this marketplace. We also knew we had to offer backup for multiple computers through a single account, because, in the end, you have one set of data you want to access, even if you have many computers. ADrive Desktop, combined with our other tools, gives our customers the kind of flexible data storage options they need, whether they want simple backup of one Linux desktop or they are looking to secure data for a complex network of hundreds of laptops and desktops running a variety of operating systems,” says Allen Sandros, ADrive’s Vice President of Product Development. ADrive Desktop gives business and enterprise customers a solution for backup in increasingly diverse and dynamic workplace environments. ADrive Desktop provides an opportunity for cost and infrastructure savings to businesses through high-volume enterprise accounts that can be used in tandem with ADrive Desktop to backup files from hundreds of computers in a business setting to a single, unified, off-site storage location. The release of ADrive Desktop is also a signal of ADrive’s commitment to their customers, according to Sandros, in a time when many online storage providers are quitting the game. “The recent abandonment of online storage services by companies like Yahoo, HP, and AOL makes it clear to me that these companies don’t understand the needs of online storage and data backup customers. Big companies like Google can’t figure a way to compete in this market because they struggle to provide homogenized, one-size-fits-all products. ADrive continues to thrive because of our commitment to serving our customers with flexible products and solutions, reliable services and dedicated customer support. ADrive Desktop is yet another example of that commitment,” says Sandros. In addition to ADrive Desktop, ADrive combines a robust collection of products and services, including File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and WebDAV access, and a user-friendly web interface to provide a complete solution for online storage with access from anywhere in the world. ADrive Desktop is available to Signature and Premium customers through their existing accounts. New users and Basic account holders can try ADrive Desktop by signing up for a free, 14-Day trial account. New users can also opt for a 50 GB free account to test out ADrive’s web-based services. “We still offer basic users 50GB of free online storage and we can continue to offer that because it’s a great introduction to our company’s services,” says Sandros. Upcoming features to soon be officially released by ADrive include: a mobile device application; collaboration solutions for businesses and other groups; an image gallery for viewing photos online; a media player; folder sharing capabilities, tools for webmasters and system administrators, and much more.
