July 14, 2009 Supports More Devices, Stores All Files/Versions Permanently, Syncs Multiple Machines CHICAGO, July 14 /PRNewswire/ — Online data manager SpiderOak ranks as a Carbonite Killer in a feature-for-feature comparison of the two services, proving that all online data backup services are not created equal. SpiderOak supports more devices and operating systems, stores all backed-up files and versions permanently without Carbonite’s 90-day discard policy, and offers two key additional services: synchronization of designated folders between multiple devices plus file sharing for easy group access. SpiderOak enables users to backup, sync, share, access, and store files from any combination of Windows, Mac and Linux computers as well as external storage media in a single account. Advantages over Carbonite include:
SpiderOak’s service - including backup, sync, file sharing, storage and remote file access from any Internet-enabled device - is free for the first 2 GBs, costs $10/month from 2 to 100GB, and $10/month for each additional 100GB increment for an unlimited number of devices. Enrollment is available at https://spideroak.com. About SpiderOak SOURCE SpiderOak |

1Hey Spideroak,
Why are so many of your press releases so aggressive? Why do you attack your colleagues like this? You don’t have to pull others down to build yourself up. Or do you?

2Rob,
Thank you for posting your thoughts - it is always great to hear feedback.
As it relates specifically to your comment, Carbonite offers many good and needed features while also taking a serious stance on security - something we share in common and applaud. That said, we feel it is important and certainly within our right to point out the differentiators between our product and a competitors. This is not done to “pull others down” as you suggest but rather to provide the consumer with a full understanding of our product as it relates to - in this case - Carbonite. Nothing we stated was inaccurate or false but rather made to draw distinction. Certainly you have compared and contrasted your services to other companies such that you may better distinguish yourselves?
Ultimately, we are sorry that you took offense to this press release as it was not our intention; however, we do feel secure in our statements above.
Thank you again for your feedback - please don’t hesitate to send it anytime.
My best wishes,
Ethan Oberman
