Backupify Expands User Base to More than 100,000 Customers

Solidifies Position as Leading Social Media Backup Company With TweetBackup Acquisition

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Nov. 16, 2010 –/– Backupify, the leading provider of online backup, archiving and export services for cloud-based data, today announced the acquisition of privately held TweetBackup.

The popular Twitter backup service currently performs automated daily backups of over 62 million Tweets for thousands of users. TweetBackup protects Twitter accounts from a variety of vulnerabilities, including hackers, accidental deletion and service outages, by archiving “Follower” and “Following” lists, messages with specific hash tags and Twitpic photos. The acquisition, completed October 2010, underscores Backupify’s dedication to maintaining its position as the leading provider of cloud-based data backup and management.

Twitter is already a dominant social media platform among consumers, while businesses increasingly rely on Twitter to personalize marketing communications, gather customer feedback and address public concerns. As they invest more time and resources into Twitter, these groups realize the need for an independent archiving solution like TweetBackup to protect Twitter accounts and data from vulnerabilities such as hacking, corruption, and accidental deletion. Much like Backupify’s own Twitter archiving service, TweetBackup also provides businesses using Twitter with the ability to archive Twitter accounts and meet records retention and data reproduction requirements.

“TweetBackup is one of the most popular Twitter backup services on the market,” said Backupify CEO, Rob May. “Now part of Backupify, TweetBackup adds to our broad spectrum of cloud services, including Google Apps, Facebook, Flickr and Gmail. Backupify now has over 100,000 users that are using cloud services with greater confidence, knowing that their online data is secure and in their control.”

TweetBackup will remain a stand-alone service. TweetBackup users will now have access to Backupify’s customer service infrastructure at Users wishing to backup multiple online services, including Twitter, can continue to employ Backupify’s core archiving solution.
