has no plans to scrap its famous unlimited online backup plan

Copenhagen, Denmark Feb 16, 2011 –/– On January 31, 2011, Mozy discontinued offering unlimited storage for their MozyHome users for $5 a month. Effective March 1, Mozy will be charging $5.99 for 50GB for a single user; or $9.99 for 125GB for 3 users.

Based on the new Mozy’s plan, a user with 1 TB of data will now be paying $1,176 a year or $98 a month. This user has been paying just $5 a month or $55 a year until now.

“The price change at MozyHome is a very significant hit to MozyHome users, as Mozy has both increased price and capped storage space at the same time. From now on, Mozy will be charging $6 per month, an increase of $1 a month from formerly $5 per month, and has capped the storage space to just 50GB of data in its entry level plan”, says Kresten Bach Sondergaard, Product Manager at

When it comes to data backup,’s principle is simple – provide an affordable, and easy to use backup system that enables everyone to backup online. Based on this principle, will continue to offer its unlimited backup for a flat monthly fee; and has no plan to discontinue this unlimited storage plan.

“It is true that iPhones and other smaller mobile devices are contributing to the exponential growth of data, creating HD videos, and 25MB photos; however, just slapping customers twice in the face by capping storage and increasing price is not fair”, says Frederik Schouboe, President of “We have no plans to scrap our unlimited online data backup plan. In fact we offer Mozy users an irresistible discount of 50% right now; we believe that unlimited backup is unlimited backup of all the files you choose, no buts and ifs”.
