SecurStore Online Data Backup Expert Tips: Appreciating Time line restore

Time line restore implies that all data backed up into the online backup server has been uploaded in accordance with some kind of time stamp and it is possible to restore the data to the system by access the data with reference to the time stamp. The understanding is correct. Many online backup service providers integrate timeline software into their offering and insist that you select the files you want to upload and the specific time at which you want to upload the data using the central management console they provide when you subscribe to their service. The purpose is to ensure that you are able to backup your data at a time that is most convenient to your organization and that the backup process is able to acquire all the bandwidth it needs for the operation without disrupting your business activities and hogging resources. The facility also ensures that you will be able to recover your system to a point in time when your system was healthy if necessary.

Timeline backup software intelligently backs up selected files and folders. Once the original file is uploaded, it constantly checks back for changes in the backup set of files. If any changes have occurred the file or the changes are incrementally backed up into the online backup server with a time stamp. Additionally, many timeline backup and restore software help users manage the link between mobile devices and their computers and create automatic backups that are constantly synchronized at a given point in time. Any changes are automatically backed up with the time stamp when the mobile device is plugged into the Internet.

It follows that the timeline facility makes restoration of files and folders to a specific point in time easy.

Timeline restore operations can be done in different modes. Most timeline software provide two modes—smart mode and turbo mode. While the smart mode automatically throttles restore operations up or down depending on CPU usage, the turbo mode overrides all other operations and hogs the system resources for restoration of data.

Timeline restores can be attempted for a wide variety of file types. Emails, documents, office files, ebooks, bookmarks, pictures, videos and music can be backed up with time stamps and restored to the local machine from the online server in accordance with the time stamp. If the data type is not available in the default list of data types that can be backed up and restored, many time line software allow users to customize the list of data types to include the file types that are most frequently backed up from and restored to the local machine.

Most time line software map the online disk drive and create the illusion that the online drive actually exists on the local machine. Users can add or delete files or drag and drop folders from the mapped drive on to their system. They can view the files and versions of files based on time stamps, before selecting the ones that they want to restore to their system.

Timeline backup and restore software also offer a number of capacity and distribution charts which inform the user about how data is being stored on the online backup server. The charts are often color coded to indicate backups and restores that have been successfully completed and the ones that have failed. Administrators can consequently determine missing backups, failed backups and available backups for point in time restore at a glance.

So, if have subscribed for an online backup service or plan to subscribe for one, have a look at the timeline backup and restore features(if any) that come bundled with the server to optimize on your backup and restore operations!
