Barclays offers free online data back-ups to UK riot-hit businesses

London, UK, Aug. 12, 2011 –/BackupReview.info/– Barclays Business is [today] making its I-Sure online data backup service free for all UK businesses signing up in the next three months, whether or not they are Barclays customers.

Commonly cited industry statistics show that over half of businesses shut down within six months of a disaster, such as losing all of their data through fire.

The I-Sure product enables businesses to save sensitive data in a remote and secure location, providing customers with the confidence that all their business critical data, such as accounts, stock information and customer contact details, is securely encrypted and immediately available online.

The move highlights the issue of data security in the wake of recent property destruction and looting, and complements Barclays extensive package of support to businesses and personal customers impacted by the recent events. This package includes loan repayment holidays, temporary overdraft increases and clarity on insurance cover.

Paul Moriarty owner of a logistics and furniture installation consultancy and user of I-Sure recently lost of all of his accounts, invoices and contacts for his businesses.

Barclays is providing emergency support measures to help business and personal customers affected by the riots

Barclays Business Customers:

  • Barclays Business Managers will be proactively contacting customers to assess any damage or disruption caused to their businesses and offering solutions that will ease the burden on cash flow, such as overdraft increases and loan repayment holidays of up to six months on customers’ existing loans. This will allow businesses time to recover from the immediate impact of the damage caused by the rioting, or to bridge the gap until insurance claims are settled.

Barclays Personal Customers:

  • Barclays personal customers with an overdraft can ask for a temporary increase to help with emergency bills.
  • We will also waive overdraft related fees upon request.
  • Customers without an overdraft can also apply for an emergency overdraft.
  • We can confirm that any damage to properties or vehicles insured through Barclays is covered under by our policies.
  • We can help home insurance customers affected by the riots who can no longer live in their home to find temporary accommodation,and arrange for emergency payments to replace essential items where appropriate.
