CHANDLER, AZ, Symantec Partner Engage 2011 – Oct 13, 2011 –/BackupReview.info/–Â Symantec Corp. SYMC today announced Symantec Endpoint Protection.cloud and Backup Exec.cloud are now offered to partners in the United States and Canada through Symantec’s traditional distribution channel. By delivering Symantec’s cloud-based endpoint protection and backup solutions, partners have more choice in how they bring solutions to customers and can make the most of the growth opportunity in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).
According to Symantec’s 2011 State of Cloud Survey, the opportunity for its partners to benefit from the demand for cloud services is large: less than 20 percent of the 5,300 companies surveyed have implemented cloud-based solutions; however, as many as 81 percent are evaluating them.
Symantec is committed to leveraging its distributor relationships to provide its traditional reseller partners with new ways to grow their businesses and take advantage of Symantec.cloud solutions offerings without a significant investment. Symantec channel partners can now protect their customers laptops, desktops, and file servers from security threats and provide online backup and recovery with Symantec’s simple, easy-to-deploy cloud-based services. Both services will be sold through the distribution channel as annual subscriptions, including 24×7 support.
“Our partners are telling us that their customers want products in various form factors and Symantec is uniquely positioned to protect their customers with software, cloud services or appliances,” said Randy Cochran, vice president, Americas Channel Sales, Symantec Corp. “Before offering our Symantec.cloud solutions through our distribution channel, we conducted a pilot program to collect valuable feedback and ensure we are evolving to meet partner and customer needs. We understand that giving our partners more choice in how they deliver our solutions is critical to our joint success.”
“The ability to adapt to the changing software landscape is critical to SYNNEX’ and our reseller partners’ success,” Bob Stegner, senior vice president, Marketing North America, SYNNEX Corporation. “As cloud becomes more of a reality, our partners want a choice in how they run their businesses and need to be able to deliver either on-premise software or cloud services. Symantec’s portfolio gives our resellers that choice, which is a huge advantage.”
