Securstore Online Data Backup Expert Tips: Capturing Data from Traditional Backup Solutions

The data contained in legacy systems cannot be discarded with the hardware. There is an urgent need to ensure that data from traditional backup systems are smoothly and effectively transitioned to the newer systems. Lossless transition of data will require intelligent application of the mind and complex managerial abilities, coupled with enterprise capabilities for provisioning for sophisticated hardware and software.

Transition technology must exhibit compatibility with systems that are being phased out and they must integrate with systems that are being brought in. The technology must comply to a number of world standards and must support protocols such as NFS, FTP, sFTP, WebDAV and rsync. The transition system must connect with the legacy system as an extension of the infrastructure and must implement the native file system with existing native apps at the point of orchestrating the transition.

The neo-infrastructure must meet security and compliance requirements and must support encrypted movement of data along with encryption of data at rest. Encryption keys must be stored in government grade FIPS 140-2 certified hardware security modules with potential to logically separate all data through virtualization. The process must be associated with key per volume practices and the privacy of the stored data must not be compromised under any situation.

Transitioning legacy systems in the cloud must demand and get, high SLAs with excellent performance. The latency levels available in the cloud solution must be identical to those obtained from on premise solutions. Continuous data protection protocols must kick into action ensuring that Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) are not alien to the legacy data that is being siphoned into the new hardware from traditional backup systems.

High Return On Investment (ROI) would indeed be an expectation that must be fulfilled. The backup solution must speed up the backup process to a hundred times the speed of the legacy system. It must ease recovery and disaster planning. The backup solution must subsume the multiple backup solutions of the legacy system and pipe in data from tape, disk, physical or virtual environments with an ability to consolidate all the backups siphoned in to create a single backup repository.

In other words, the new solution must be capable of being implemented by the novice and the professional with equal ease. Technology should not be daunting. The results of incorporating the new technology should be visibly advantageous and amazing.

Securstore provides a bespoke offsite backup solution catered for customers who have both mission-critical data and non-critical data i.e. it provides customers with a secure & efficient backup and recovery solution which is sustainable over time. This coupled with agentless technology and advanced support for all environments and applications makes it suitable for any type of business, data centre provider or reseller.
