Securstore Online Data Backup Expert Tips: What to Look for While Selecting a Cloud Backup Service
If you have made the decision to migrate to cloud backup, it is time to find out just what you need to look for while selecting a cloud backup service.
You will really be spoiled for choice. There are several “cloud backup services” to choose from. But, not all of them will meet your needs. Only a few may have all the features you are looking for. So, you need to have an understanding of your backup needs and match them with what the cloud backup service has to offer.
Let us begin with the most obvious—the offsite storage feature. What do you expect from your offsite storage? The storage repository must be easy to access. Cloud backup vendors generally provide the customer with an interface that allows single click access to the repository. The interface also provides options for configuring a backup schedule that suits your organization or setting the backup to automatic or manual. However, if you are constantly backing up mission-critical data, you may like to ensure that your cloud backup vendor permits you to backup your information continuously, automatically on a 24x7x365.
In this context, you may like to check out on the speed of backup. Speed of backup is affected by factors such as bandwidth available with you and also whether deduplication and compression is done before or after data is transmitted to the online backup repository. The encryption algorithm used by the vendor can also prolong the time to backup.
Of course, you want to backup your data because you anticipate that you may, at some point want to recover data from your storage. So, you need to pay some attention to both storage and recovery options being provided by the cloud backup vendor. You need to ensure that the deduplication or compression/encryption algorithms do not corrupt your data in storage. You need to make sure that your data is stored securely in the vendor’s data center and it remains highly available, accessible and protected against unauthorized users. You may also want to confirm that your vendor has the resources to provide you with a scalable storage.
Finally, you may want to check whether the recovery process defined by the cloud backup vendor meets all the Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) that are considered crucial to the success of your organization. The availability of technical support, the monitoring tools provided by the cloud backup vendor, the user management systems that come built in with the agent/agentless interface may be other factors that have a bearing on the kind of cloud backup vendor you select for your organization.
Securstore provides a bespoke offsite backup solution catered for customers who have both mission-critical data and non-critical data i.e. it provides customers with a secure & efficient backup and recovery solution which is sustainable over time. This coupled with agentless technology and advanced support for all environments and applications makes it suitable for any type of business, data centre provider or reseller.
