Vembu Online Data Backup Expert Tips: The Versatility of Vembu Backup
Vembu StoreGrid 4.2.1 boosts confidence in your backup. It is a positive step taken in the right direction. It works quietly in the background protecting your data and securing your digital assets while you get on with your task of running your business efficiently and generating the information you can constantly and unobtrusively transmit to your data stores.
StoreGrid Service Provider Client has a range of backup services to offer.
The list of computing devices you can backup is long. To start with, it supports all kinds of operating systems—Windows, Linux, Mac, Solaris, and FreeBSD. It allows backup from all kinds of servers—Microsoft Exchange Server, SQL Server, SharePoint Server, PostgreSQL Server: CPanel Server and Oracle Server. It supports backups from virtual machines running on VMWare and Hyper V. You can also backup NTFS Permissions or backup Windows Mail.
You are spoilt for choice in backup scheduling. There are plain vanilla backup scheduling options with facility to create cloud or local backup schedules, view the backup schedules, edit the backup schedules, delete the backup schedule, and so on. Interestingly, local backups can be scheduled with or without simultaneous cloud backup by selecting appropriate options on the scheduler. Filters can be defined for the inclusion or exclusion of specific file types in a backup set.
Backup windows or “No backup” Windows can be configured without leaving the scheduler screen. Backup schedules can be imported or exported (currently, imported backup schedules cannot be edited—but Vembu is working on it!). Multiple backup schedules can be set to run one after another or simultaneously using the available bandwidth or LAN connectivity as required.
Backups that have been completed, aborted, suspended or deleted can be viewed, restored, deleted or exported. Intelligent incremental backup is automatic. Open files can be backed up and files / folders within a backup set which have undergone large changes can be scheduled for a Synthetic full backup to save on backup time and bandwidth.
Multiple versions of the file (in fact 99 versions), can be stored in the cloud backup or local backup. The best is that all backups are reported and data from the different backups can be viewed, edited, restored or deleted independent of all other backups stored in the cloud backup or local backup repository.
Robust encryption algorithms selected by the user (Blowfish or Triple DES) is strictly implemented and no access to the data is possible if the password or encryption key is not available. Powerful compression technologies are pressed into service to ensure that data stores are not unnecessarily burdened.
To sum up, Vembu’s StoreGrid is versatile!
