London, UK – July 3, 2013 — / — Virgina Elona, of Gothenburg, Sweden beat 420 other competitors with an incredible score of 282,711 points to win Databarracks’ Noisy Neighbour game at the 5th annual Cloud World Forum. In an incredible display of generosity, Virginia has decided to donate her prize to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The game was a test of quick reactions and a steady hand, designed to highlight the difficulty of maintaining consistent storage performance in a multi-tenant cloud.

It was produced to coincide with the publication of research undertaken by Cloud Spectator and neovise demonstrating how Databarracks deals with the Noisy Neighbour effect and delivers consistent storage performance to its customers, while many competitors fall short of expectations.

Virgina’s extraordinary score came halfway through the second day of the cloud-computing event, and resulted in many top scoring competitors returning to the Databarracks stand to unsuccessfully try and beat Virgina’s score

Peter Groucutt, Managing Director for Databarracks commented: “That was by far the best score we have seen. We developed the game for Cloud World Forum and we’ve all been playing it in the office, but none of us managed a score even close to it.”

Prizes were awarded for the five highest scores across the two days with the top contestant winning a Sonos wireless HiFi. Runners up received prizes including a  Sony LiveView Touch Generation 2 SmartWatch, a Silverlit Sky Eye Helicopter and some Bose IE2 Audio Headphones.

Upon receiving her prize, Virgina chose to donate it to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

“We were all completely staggered by Virgina’s incredibly generous donation.  We had a lot of interest in the Sonos HiFi – it was the prize that everyone really wanted and so when we presented it to Virginia and she said that she wanted to donate it, we were completely taken aback,” said Groucutt.

Grocutt concluded: “We would like to send a big ‘Thank you’ to Virgina.  Her generosity was a great way to end a successful two days. We couldn’t have asked for a more deserving winner.”
