Securstore Online Data Backup Expert Tips: Desirable Cloud Backup Features

Small and medium enterprises looking for end-to-end data protection must learn what is involved in obtaining such a cloud solution. The data solution must backup data from disparate systems automatically and reliably with facility to access, collaborate and share data securely across the enterprise. The customer support must be such that the level of confidence in the service provider is high and promises contained in service level agreements (SLAs) are delivered without a hitch.

There are very few service providers who deliver what they promise and promise only that which they can deliver. Several service providers do not even begin to appreciate the import of the phrase “end-to-end”! If you think that this “ideal end-to-end” solution is a myth, you are justified in thinking so.

The cloud solution must centralize data backup and recovery management. Customers should be able to sign up for a cloud backup and recovery account. Sufficient wizards should be built into the client interface for guiding both the newbie and the expert through the account set up and management process. Administrators should have the facility to configure all the systems (whether desktops or mobile devices) that connect to the central account without having to download, install and maintain agent software in each of the client machines. The interface should permit the Administrator assign rights and permissions to authorized users or define backup schedules and retention policies for the enterprise. Desirable management features are: Remote desktop management, Advanced user and group management, Mobile access, web management portal, bandwidth throttling, remote install , seeding of large data sets, and SSAE 16 audit and certification.

The cloud solution should allow easy recovery of data that is backed up. Data backup should be high speed, continuous with facility to throttle bandwidth. Open and locked file support should be available. Backed up data should be 100% recoverable to similar or near similar hardware from anywhere, anytime. The backup process should be incremental , version controls should be in place, de -duplication should be automatic, and compression should be the norm. Additionally , the cloud backup solution should provision for the creation of local backup sets for instantaneous archiving and recovery of information in synchronization with the policies of the enterprise.

End to end data backup and recovery solutions in the cloud also ensure that native integrations and best practices are adopted for backup and recovery. Mapped drive support is provided and smart find templates are built into the interface to ease the process of e-discovery.

Securstore provides a bespoke offsite backup solution catered for customers who have both mission-critical data and non-critical data i.e. it provides customers with a secure & efficient backup and recovery solution which is sustainable over time. This coupled with agentless technology and advanced support for all environments and applications makes it suitable for any type of business, data centre provider or reseller.
