Computer Media Technologies donates food and contributes cash to support the Bay Area community

SANTA CLARA, CA – Nov 27, 2013 — / — Silicon Valley-based technology solutions and cloud enablement provider, Computer Media Technologies (CMT) donated 5,621 pounds of food to Second Harvest Food Bank with support from employees during its 11th annual food bank run.

The food bank run supports a trusted leader, Second Harvest Food Bank, in their dedicated efforts to end local hunger. This year’s event, held Tuesday, November 26, 2013 succeeded contributions from the 2012 event by 16-percent. CMT contributed over $10,000 and donated 5,621 total pounds of food including 89 turkeys.

CMT’s CEO Kurt Klein, sponsors the charity event and closes the office for two hours. This year employees met at the Santa Clara Safeway located in the Rivermark Town Center, where they were challenged to fill up a shopping cart with non-perishable food items related to Thanksgiving.

“I want to extend my gratitude to our dedicated employees who gave not only their time, but offered support with additional donations during the food bank run,” said Klein. “Hunger and education are two of our greatest concerns and this event provides employees with a positive team-building experience in a supportive atmosphere while contributing to the well-being of the community.”

The 5,621 pounds of food collected for donation consisted of 4,336 pounds of bulk food, 285 pounds of ham and 1,000 pounds of turkey. In addition to the food donation, CMT matched cash contributions to provide to Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. Employees contributed $1,100 in cash, check and on-line donations.

As one of the largest food banks in the nation, Second Harvest provides food to an average of nearly one quarter of a million people each month. CMT’s efforts will support Second Harvest’s goals to mobilize individuals and companies, enabling community partners to connect people to the nutritious food they need.

A special thank-you goes to the Santa Clara Safeway, individual volunteers and volunteer-groups that provided event support.
