Multi-site Ethernet Network Service and 1 Gbps Ethernet Internet access enable global fitness products company to adopt cloud services and improve disaster recovery processes

PORTLAND, OR – Mar 19, 2014 — /BackupReview.info/ — Comcast Business today announced that Nautilus, Inc., a global fitness products company, is using Comcast Ethernet Services to help move its major business operations into the cloud to help simplify their network and increase efficiency.

Headquarted in Vancouver, Washington, the Nautilus, Inc. portfolio of brands includes Bowflex®, Schwinn®, Nautilus® and Universal®. Nautilus, Inc. sells through direct, retail and online, creating a need for a strong e-commerce channel and increased bandwidth to support it.

By switching to Comcast Business, the company was able to get additional bandwidth while achieving monthly cost savings. Nautilus, Inc. is in the process of migrating select business operations into the cloud, taking advantage of the benefits that SaaS offerings provide including increased efficiency and lower costs. The company has already reduced its physical server count and did not need to spend additional money to replace aging hardware.

The company’s backup and disaster recovery processes were especially well-served by moving to the cloud. Nautilus, Inc. eliminated the need for a tape library and costs associated with maintenance and replacement of back-up devices. Furthermore, in the event of a disaster, the company can recover critical sales histories, customer data and sales campaign information, getting back up and running quickly. The company’s IT staff also has benefitted, no longer being constrained by having to schedule backups during nonpeak hours in order to avoid network congestion.

“Our business relies heavily on our network in order to process orders online and manage our production, manufacturing and distribution. With more bandwidth, we have more options to better meet our needs and become more efficient” said Tim Spencer, Director of IT Infrastructure Services and Security for Nautilus, Inc. “The benefits of moving our operations to the cloud are enhanced by a fast, reliable connection.”

Nautilus, Inc. is now using a 1 Gbps Ethernet Dedicated Internet line to provide Internet access for employees as well as to support production systems. The company also has 30 and 10 Mbps Ethernet Network Service connections at their distribution centers in Portland as well as a 100 Mbps connection at their offices in Vancouver.

“As more and more organizations adopt cloud services in pursuit of managed costs and greater efficiency, they’ll not only need additional bandwidth, but also a reliable Internet provider to support the company’s business operations,” said David Brown, vice president of Comcast Business. “Our advanced nationwide network provides that peace of mind and is easily scalable, allowing customers to increase bandwidth as they grow and as more services move to the cloud.”
