MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – April 30, 2014 — / — Bitcasa, the company that makes storage simple, today announced announced the appointment of Ranajit Nevatia as senior vice president of products and marketing, and David Lai as vice president of engineering. The new hires will help accelerate expansion into new high-growth markets and categories, and will play a key role building out the new vision for the company – which will be announced at TechCrunch Disrupt New York next week.

With more than 20 years’ experience in enterprise storage and software, Nevatia will play a critical role in building out Bitcasa’s product roadmap and marketing initiatives. Prior to Bitcasa, Nevatia was vice president of marketing at Panzura, where he built the marketing and inside sales program and led go-to-market product strategies. Previously, he was responsible for business strategy, cloud alliances, product management and marketing for Riverbed’s Cloud Storage Business Unit successfully bringing the company’s Whitewater and Granite products to market. Additionally, Nevatia has held leadership positions at Asempra, VERITAS and Oracle.

Lai also brings more than 20 years’ experience in enterprise storage and software engineering, and will play a key role in developing Bitcasa’s Cloud Platform. Previously, Lai held an engineering position at Tropo, a phone and SMS app development platform. The veteran engineer also served as senior director of software engineering at EMC, and was director of engineering operations at Symantec before that. Lai has also held senior engineer positions at Librato, VERITAS, Sybase, and Teradata.
