New report states CrashPlan “boasts one of the largest footprints of endpoint backup data in the world”

MINNEAPOLIS, IN – July 9, 2014 — /BackupReview.info/ — Code42, the leader in endpoint data protection and management, today announced it was included by leading industry analyst firm Forrester Research, Inc. in its “Market Overview: Enterprise Endpoint Backup and Recovery Solutions” report dated July 3, 2014.

The market overview addresses the rising importance of enterprise endpoint backup, stating, “With more employees working in more places with more devices, it’s never been more important for companies to protect their employees with endpoint backup.” Code42’s CrashPlan enterprise endpoint backup solution was outlined alongside 13 other endpoint backup and recovery solutions; the report states that Code42—of all the solutions covered in the report—protects the most data via its software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering.

Endpoint Backup: A Foundation for Data Governance and eDiscovery
Protection against data loss at the “edge” of the network—where employees work anytime, anywhere on a variety of devices—is compelling businesses to invest in endpoint backup as a foundation for data governance. The Forrester report states: “While companies’ adoption and growth of endpoint backup solutions has been steadily growing for years, moving into the end of 2013, adoption rates began to spike upward.”

In addition—citing today’s increasingly mobile workforce and the data protection and management challenges this poses for IT—the report lists eDiscovery as a driver for the surge in endpoint backup deployments. “eDiscovery is a rising initiative on many organizations’ lists. … 45% of respondents reporting it as a high or critical priority.”

“We protect and manage exabytes of endpoint data for 30,000 businesses around the world,” said Mitch Coopet, co-founder and head of product at Code42. “This number represents real data, real endpoints and real end users protected on our platform.”

“CrashPlan lets a single IT admin easily manage hundreds of thousands of endpoints and all of the data on them,” Coopet added. “When we say we give IT visibility and control of data on the edge, this is what we mean. And this data control is all the more important due to increasing corporate initiatives around data governance, eDiscovery, legal hold, data migration, disaster recovery and compliance.”
