VMware Capabilities Extend Infrascale’s Data Protection Platform by Protecting Virtual Environments Across Any OS or Device

LOS ANGELES, CA – October 9, 2014 — /BackupReview.info/ — Infrascale, a leading provider of comprehensive cloud-native data protection, today announced the launch of Infrascale VMware Backup. This new VMware hypervisor-level backup solution extends Infrascale’s Data Protection Platform to protect virtual environments across any operating system (OS) or device. The solution, which includes cloud backup, disaster recovery, file sharing and cloud archiving, provides an integrated data-protection platform that allows Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to reduce the cost and complexity of operating multiple technologies from multiple vendors to protect their customer’s data.

“Many backup vendors offer specialized solutions that only back up certain environments. They often back up Windows but not Linux, or servers but not endpoints, or virtual environments only, which requires users to purchase, deploy and maintain multiple solutions,” said Eric Tewey, MatrixOneSource, an Infrascale partner. “Infrascale already provided an intuitive, comprehensive backup solution, and the new VMware capabilities have added further value.”

Gartner estimates that 50 percent of business-server workloads are currently virtualized and expects that number to grow to 86 percent within 18 months. Traditional backup approaches that require the installation of a backup agent on each virtual machine are unable to scale with this rapid growth of virtual machines in the enterprise. Manually installing a backup agent on each virtual machine is inefficient, time consuming and expensive. It also increases the risk of data loss because newly spun-up virtual machines often go undetected by the system administrator.

Infrascale VMware Backup installs at the hypervisor level and automatically detects and backs up every virtual machine in the environment. Going beyond VMware’s native data protection capabilities, Infrascale applies its patented, high-speed, data de-duplication technology to further compress the backup size by as much as 90 percent. It then encrypts that data with a unique double-blind encryption system of military-grade security. Infrascale VMware Backup also protects environments not addressed by VMware’s native backup tools, including ESXi free hosts and hosts that use VMware’s Physical Compatibility Mode / Raw Device Mapping. Infrascale provides highly efficient, secure and comprehensive data protection across all types of virtual-machine deployments.

“Infrascale looks to provide organizations with a complete, one-stop solution that covers both virtualized and bare-metal systems and that still goes deep by enabling single-item recovery for enterprise systems,” said Scott Lowe, co-founder and analyst at ActualTechMedia. “The company also touts its ‘any cloud’ target — while also providing its own turnkey appliance/cloud combination at very accessible, very simple prices — making it a fit for customers from the smallest SMB to the enterprise.”

Infrascale also simplifies the process of buying and deploying a flexible VMware backup solution. The company’s VMware Backup is available to MSPs and authorized resellers for a simple, all-inclusive and low monthly subscription fee. There are no per-socket, per-CPU, restore request or data transfer fees. In addition to Infrascale’s cloud storage, customers have the flexibility to back up data onto on any public cloud of their choice, including Amazon Web Services and Azure.

About Infrascale Data Protection Platform
