DUBAI, UAE – October 14, 2014 — /BackupReview.info/ — With businesses estimating losses of up to US $60,000 every hour during IT system failures, data protection solutions that are relevant and replicable in diverse environments are crucial to dealing with market complexity. This was one of the main findings of a survey realized by the International Data Corporation (IDC) for Acronis, a global leader in new-generation data protection.

The study was a cross-industry survey of organizations that have up to 1,000 employees, commonly referred to as small and medium sized businesses (SMBs). Over 400 respondents from eight countries responded on their evolving data protection and disaster recovery needs.

“In businesses across the world today, data–whether information related to customer records, company finances, software applications and even company emails–is paramount,” said Guurprit Ahuja, Acronis’ Director for Middle East and Africa, on the sidelines of GITEX Technology Week 2014. “And because we are living in an increasingly dynamic world with ever-expanding volumes of data, there are plenty of challenges for managing, protecting and securing this resource.”

The surveyfound that an increasing number of organizations are dealing with the simultaneous needs to back up physical, virtual and cloud environments, and this is giving rise to different models of cloud backup adoption across the globe.

“While 94 per cent of SMBs in the United States cite the cloud as a data backup option, the global adoption of cloud sits at 65 per cent,” continued Ahuja. “Companies in regionssuch as Western Europe and Asia Pacific cited security as a major reason against integrating cloud managements systems into their networks. And while there have been some major cloud security breaches in the recent past, cloud-based solutions will be an integral part of combined backup systems in the near future. An obvious focus for solution providers will be to build intelligent, flexible and easy-to-use software to manage all of these challenges.”

In February this year, Acronis launched a new generation of data protection for virtual, physical and cloud environments. Powered by AnyDataEngine, Acronis’ new generation data protection offers easy, complete and safe backup, disaster recovery and secure access for all data across environments and locations.

“With its flexibility, AnyData technologyis able to offer twice the performance, while using half the amount of resources for data management. As a company, our mission is to be at the forefront of easy, complete and safe data protection solutions”, concluded Ahuja.
