SUNNYVALE, CA – November 11, 2014 — /BackupReview.info/ – Edge data protection solution provider Druva announced today that CEO Jaspreet Singh has been selected to speak at this month’s AWS re:Invent 2014 conference in Las Vegas about the use of Amazon Web Services (AWS) in building an enterprise backup and archival solution. Druva utilizes AWS as an integral part of its industry-leading inSync endpoint data protection and governance platform and its new Phoenix cloud-first server backup solution, and is one of the first seven vendors to earn the AWS’s new Partner Network (APN) Storage Competency designation.

In the November 13 session at AWS re:Invent, Singh will share lessons learned in using AWS architecture and infrastructure to deliver a scalable secondary storage environment in the cloud. Singh’s team has leveraged Amazon’s S3 online file storage web service to provide a large pool of distributed storage for warm copies of data, Glacier cloud archive storage service for long-term data preservation, and a metadata layer on top of DynamoDB NoSQL database service for high transaction and fast data deduplication.

Those components, along with Druva’s own design strategy, created a completely distributed cloud-oriented architecture that is geo-distributed, highly available, and able to scale to manage massive volumes of data across multiple customers and geographies.

Druva used that AWS-backed distributed file system in developing its #1-analyst-rated inSync platform, which backs up and manages employee data housed on desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones. inSync creates and continually updates a centralized repository of backed-up files that enables rapid data recovery for lost or stolen devices, allows remote user access to any file or folder from any device, and supports eDiscovery, compliance and forensics needs.

Druva also employed multiple AWS components to build its new 100% cloud-based Phoenix server backup platform, which unifies hot, warm and cold backup and archiving processes and administration for the first time. Both short- and long-term backup are managed in the AWS cloud, eliminating tape, off-site storage, complexity and 70% of the costs of managing server backup, archiving, retention and recovery.

The AWS re:Invent session is designed for developers as well as technical and product leaders interested in using AWS for long-term data retention, data availability across regions, and scaling an architecture to manage massive volumes of data. The conference runs November 11-14 at The Venetian.
