Cartika has announced the introduction of a new hosted virtual desktop product which will revolutionize the way businesses deploy and manage desktop operating systems and applications

TORONTO, ON – March 18, 2015 — / — Cartika, a leading Canadian Infrastructure-as-a-service and hosted enterprise services provider, has announced the introduction of a new hosted virtual desktop product which will revolutionize the way businesses deploy and manage desktop operating systems and applications.

Cartika Virtual Desktops offer a complete desktop solution that unshackles the desktop from its traditional place on the PC. By moving desktop operating systems and applications into the cloud, companies are able to more efficiently manage, deploy, and secure their employees’ work environment.

Cartika Virtual Desktops offer a full desktop hosting solution built on Cartika’s high-performance cloud infrastructure. Available with Windows Server 2012 or Windows 8 as the base operating system, the company’s cloud desktops run on virtualized infrastructure with one CPU core, 2GB of RAM, and 60GB of disk space.

As with all of Cartika’s modular cloud products, adding new features is simple. Hardware enhancements including additional memory and RAM are available, in addition to a number of Microsoft applications and services, including Microsoft Office in both Standard, Professional, and Enterprise versions, and Terminal Services. Default installations include Microsoft’s Forefront anti-virus software.

“The days of painful enterprise desktop software rollouts and insecure desktop systems are over,” says Andrew Rouchotas, Cartika CEO, “With our cloud desktop platform, companies can easily deploy desktops independent of the hardware on which they will be used, giving their IT departments unprecedented control over security and users the ultimate flexibility in accessing their work environment.”

Cartika’s virtual desktop packages are inclusive of the company’s renowned reactive support services, which include 24-hour support by phone, email, and live chat. For clients who want a more comprehensively managed experience, Cartika offers a management package for which the company pro-actively deals with any issues that might impact desktop services and which includes advanced system administration services. Cartika’s optional backup service can be used on its own or combined with the company’s powerful Bacula backup solution for both onsite and offsite backups with granular file level restores.

Cartika’s long experience of building hosted services for the enterprise allows the company to offer superior reliability and availability, with 100% network and infrastructure service level agreements. The network underlying virtual desktops combines the best in enterprise hardware with multiple redundant Tier 1 and 2 10GB upstream links backed by Juniper hardware.
