JOHANNESBURG, SA – 31 Mar 2015 — /BackupReview.info/ — Two innovative interns at Attix5 have come up with an imaginative and effective way to communicate the evolution of data backup methodology and technology, by capturing the essence of the subject in a short tech-focused movie using Lego as a medium.

The students from Stellenbosch University, one a BA visual arts student and the other qualified in language and culture, were brought on-board at the global supplier of data protection software and cloud solutions to gain on-the-job experience (and a basic wage) in December 2014 and January 2015.

Using a story board designed by Attix5 management about how a business loses its data and how Attix5 helps, the pair applied their creative skills and adapted stop motion using Lego rather than traditional images.

The result was a visually strong product in a style that complements the Attix5 image – one that audiences have loved, including ardent senior techies from tape backup companies!

The main message from the movie is that tape-based traditional backup is flawed because there is a long delay in data recovery, and there is no guarantee that data is restorable. Tape backup has made way for the advent of the cloud and automated real-time solutions to safeguard data – epitomised in Attix5’s virtually zero RTO secured hybrid cloud solution.

This movie, based on scenes built with and around Lego pieces, took two months to complete.

Robert Kellerman, Attix5 Marketing Manager, says the company has been highly impressed with the ingenuity and determination of the learners.

“I echo the sentiment of all members of staff at Attix5 when I say these two skilled individuals did a sterling job… we look forward to welcoming the back during the next holiday,” says Kellerman.
