State of Minnesota Data Center Sales Tax Program will greatly benefit clients of DataBank’s new Twin Cities facility
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – May 12, 2015 — /BackupReview.info/ — DataBank, Ltd., a leading custom data center, managed services and cloud provider, announced today that the company’s new 90,000 sqft data center in Eagan was granted qualification in Minnesota’s data center tax incentive program.
The program, which is administered by Minnesota’s Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), will offer tax rebates on both purchased equipment and utilities for client deployments in DataBank’s (MSP-2) East Twin Cities facility. Minnesota has made very clear its intent to grow IT-centric business investment in the State. The program is not only geared to both incentivize and ease technology business entry, but also foster a technical workforce and revenue growth throughout the region.
“This incentive program offers a material financial advantage to DataBank clients,” said Kevin Ooley, CFO & EVP for DataBank, Ltd. “With it, our clients can receive sales tax rebates on the equipment and software purchased and deployed in our data center. Given the investment required for a technology deployment, the savings to customers on equipment such as servers, storage devices, and networking gear can be substantial.”
In addition to top-notch data center colocation and services, the ‘Carrier-Hotel’ aspects of the new DataBank facility will further enhance bandwidth options in the Twin Cities, as well as enable long-haul transport to cities like Chicago and Kansas City. These high-spec elements coupled with the state tax incentives are poised to attract a number of enterprise clientele to the region.
“The Data Center Sales Tax Program was designed with companies like DataBank in mind,” said Kevin McKinnon, the Deputy Commissioner of Economic Development for Minnesota. “The program coupled with this type of top-tier data center availability entices the technology-driven enterprise business to Minnesota.”
