Backup Plus Offers More with Lyve Image Management, Mobile and Social Media Backup

CUPERTINO, CA – June 23, 2015 — /BackupReview.info/ — Seagate Technology plc (STX), a world leader in storage solutions, today announced that its popular award-winning Backup Plus family of external storage offerings will now include 200GB of OneDrive cloud storage, an unmatched value for the category, and the addition of Lyve’s photo and video management app. Seagate® Backup Plus drives come equipped with Seagate Dashboard software for easy plug-and-play PC backup as well as the addition of mobile and social media backup. Seagate also announced a new high capacity for its Backup Plus portable at 4TB in a sleek 20.5mm form factor using a single platter portable drive.

“Seagate Technology continues to innovate at a fast pace based on the ever changing needs of its customers,” said Jingwen Li, research analyst, storage systems for IDC. “With features such as OneDrive cloud storage, Lyve app, and the new 4TB capacity point, Seagate Backup Plus family addresses the growing needs for data storage and backup with flexible data access and simple data management in the personal storage market.”

Backup is the primary use case for external drives and Seagate has worked to make backup as convenient and hassle-free a chore as possible since the first introduction of Backup Plus and the Seagate Dashboard software in 2012.

“We continue to evolve our backup offerings with new software enhancements and the addition of features that add greater value through marketing partnerships with companies such as Microsoft, the provider of OneDrive cloud storage and Lyve Minds, developer of the photo and video management solution,” said Mark Whitby, senior vice president of Seagate branded products group.

Microsoft OneDrive:
The OneDrive cloud storage provided by Microsoft is an added feature designed to provide accessibility to one’s content on every device. A powerful tool to enhance productivity, OneDrive allows easy access to your most important files from any connected mobile device and keeps documents that are in progress up to date on each of those devices for sharing and collaborating with whomever you choose.

“OneDrive makes it easy to work with others on Office documents, and to have your most important files always available on your PC, Mac, phone and tablet,” said Angus Logan, director, product marketing, Microsoft. “Our seamless and easy-to-use cloud solution is a natural fit for people that are using Seagate Backup Plus.”

Photo and Video Management with Lyve:
The Seagate Backup Plus family of external drives will now feature Lyve app and service, which helps consumers collect, organize and enjoy their photos and videos. The Lyve app helps to organize the overwhelming number of photos and video scattered across a consumer’s life and synchronizes and de-duplicates the collections across all devices, improving organization and access. The Lyve app is compatible with iOS, Android, Windows and Mac OS X. The Lyve app combines all photos and videos from a consumer’s devices into a single collection making it easy to find, share and enjoy all photos and videos, anytime and anywhere.

Adding a Seagate Backup Plus external hard drive to a Lyve account means consumers have the benefits of access, management and organization, plus an affordable way to ensure that all of their original full-resolution photos and videos are collected and safely stored in one place, on the Seagate Backup Plus hard drive. What’s more, by adding a Seagate Backup Plus external drive to a Lyve account, consumers can clear precious space off their devices knowing their full resolution photos and videos are backed up and easily accessible via the Lyve app.

The Seagate Backup Plus family of external drives is the world’s first external hard drives to extend backup capabilities to include content from social networks. Backup Plus external hard drives come equipped with Seagate’s Dashboard software for easy backup of your system via scheduled or instantaneous on-demand backup as well as Facebook and Flickr backup. Additionally a Backup Plus drive used in conjunction with the Seagate Mobile Backup app, can also be used as a target to easily backup a mobile device wirelessly while on a network and by use of a cloud service of your choice while away from the home network.
