New data centre leverages extensive track record of ViaWest subsidiary to deliver best-in-class hybrid solutions
CALGARY, AB – July 16, 2015 – /BackupReview.info/ — Shaw Communications Inc. today announced the creation of a new, state-of-the-art data centre in Calgary to offer business customers a variety of hybrid solutions, including cloud, colocation, managed services or any combination in between.
“Businesses across the country are becoming increasingly reliant on more complex, and always-on applications to interact with their customers, which requires an increased level of IT resource costs and support,” said Ron McKenzie, Senior Vice President, Shaw Business. “The launch of our new Calgary data centre will allow us to help organizations meet these expanding IT needs by providing fully configurable hybrid solutions that will simplify functions, manage costs and help our customers grow their business.”
The 40,000 square foot facility is Shaw’s first Canadian data centre initiative following its 2014 acquisition of Denver-based ViaWest. The Calgary data centre will open in the fall of 2015.
“Through our years of experience, we have found it increasingly rare for companies to house their data in just one environment, with most organizations choosing to blend cloud services, colocation or managed services through one dedicated facility to help reduce costs and infrastructure complexity,” said Nancy Phillips, President and CEO, ViaWest. “The Shaw, ViaWest partnership brings to bear a winning and differentiated combination of capabilities to help customers future proof their IT infrastructure.”
The Calgary data centre leverages ViaWest’s expertise and 16-year track record in the IT infrastructure space across the United States, where it operates 28 data centres, and more than 1,500 customers, including Cox Business, Santander, and New Belgium Brewing Company. U.S.-based customers of ViaWest can also leverage the Calgary data centre to meet their Canadian IT hybrid infrastructure needs.
Shaw’s new Calgary data centre is designed to live up to Shaw’s reputation for delivering exceptional customer experiences and solutions. Staffed by a highly trained team of engineers, the centre features physical security monitoring and high resolution video surveillance to provide customers with peace of mind that their information is safe, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Additionally, for businesses that may prefer the choice and diversity of network providers, the Calgary data centre will be carrier-neutral. This will allow businesses to take advantage of Shaw’s extensive fibre network, a carrier of their choice, or a combination of both.
In addition to 40,000 square feet of raised floor, the data centre will offer:
Data centre customers are supported by a dedicated team of experts, and a 100% satisfaction guarantee. To learn more about the Calgary data centre, view the virtual tour here:
