Data Deposit Box Online Data Backup Expert Tips: Redefining Data Security

Data protection with Data Deposit Box begins even before the data leaves the customer systems. A 448 bit blowfish encryption process is kick-started the moment a file is identified for backup. This is a symmetric encryption algorithm that was designed in 1993 by Bruce Schneier as an alternate to existing DES algorithms. The system takes a variable key length and applies a 64 bit cipher to a block of data. The system has been proven to have the capacity to withstand brute force attacks and hence has been considered to be bank grade encryption worthy of use for all kinds of mission critical data.

Data Deposit Box’s security services are personalized. The password system is modeled on the proven systems of premier banking sites and the password is encrypted before it is stored in the authentication servers. It follows that each individual user can custom-build the encryption key and store information protected by a unique User ID and password. The user management system demands user authentication and a number of security input parameters before providing access. This ensures that –no one—not even the Data center administrator–has access to user data without inputting the correct user id; password or encryption key in the system!

Data Deposit Box is committed to security. The no-clone policy with redundant power supplied by dual power feeds and triple redundant diesel generators or dual redundant UPSs; fire resistant equipment and 24 hours on site guards are testimonials to the commitment. It is no wonder that customer security fortified with compliant data center protocols. Cisco based switched networks are deployed with redundant Internet providers; routers and firewalls; BGP and HSRP protocols with failovers to guarantee continuous service to our customers. Data is stored in carrier grade computer hardware.

Files can never fail to backup with Data Deposit Box. Each time a file is transferred for backup, the CRC signature is verified. Files that fail the verification are retransmitted to the user system and recovered from the replication, so that data stored on the server is always in sync with the data on the user system.

Data Deposit Box’s backup is performed using proprietary protocol that was specifically designed for Internet backup. Lightweight firewalls running, on port 443, syncs with home and corporate firewalls appearing like SSL protocols used in web browsers.

Data security is sacrosanct. There is none to deny the truth of this statement. The law mandates it. Data Deposit Box makes it an integral—nay, inevitable—feature of their service. In short, we at Data Deposit Box believe in providing our customers with multiple layers of security!
