Redesigned user interface and advanced reporting functionality strengthen platform’s core endpoint data protection and security capabilities
Minneapolis, MN – Oct. 27, 2015 — /BackupReview.info/ — Code42, the leader in endpoint data protection and security for the enterprise, today launched its fifth-generation platform. With this release, Code42 strengthens and refines the platform’s core backup and recovery capabilities, enhances usability, and makes it easier to perform legal holds on end-user data and migrate data quickly from one device to another.
“Our business is to ensure our customers’ endpoint data is protected and secure—so they can easily recover, search and analyze it,” said John Durant, senior vice president of product development at Code42. “In our 5.0 release we responded to customer requests for streamlined legal holds, faster data migrations and an elegant user interface—and we are excited to show them what we’ve done. We continue to invest in our powerful platform with a focus on how to help IT and other departments leverage the value of consistent and reliable endpoint archives.”
In response to customer demand, Code42 5.0 features include: a new app to simplify the legal hold process; faster data migrations across platforms; a redesigned user interface; and enhanced reporting capabilities.
Easing the legal hold handoff
“Rapid changes in technology and software, and the nearly universal shift to ESI, has made eDiscovery increasingly complex and expensive. Amidst this shifting eDiscovery environment, many organizations are moving to simplify and standardize their procedures, bringing phases of the eDiscovery process in house—in particular, legal hold. But legal hold processes are laborious and disruptive, often requiring physical collection of employee devices or hard drives,” said Jason Buffington, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. “IT organizations of all sizes would be well-served to look for ways to integrate their data protection processes and information governance strategies—including proactive communication and collaboration between IT teams, and legal or compliance teams. Code42’s new legal hold functionality is designed to enable those exact scenarios, while simplifying processes and, as a byproduct, unlocking more value and agility out of their data protection solution.”
Data migrations—from days to mere minutes
“The time and resource savings that Code42’s CrashPlan delivers for our data migrations is beyond impressive,” said Michael Bowers, team leader of infrastructure at American Fidelity Assurance. “The software is fast, reliable and virtually eliminates migration-related downtime for our account managers, and provides time savings to our entire IT staff. Migrations that used to take days are now accomplished in just 30 minutes, and every bit of data is fully protected and accounted for throughout the process.”
Revamped user experience and rich reporting
For IT administrators, the release also expands on third-party integrations to give customers an instant, comprehensive view of infrastructure performance—resulting in meaningful, actionable insights on the flow of data and status of operations in aggregate as well as a single device.
“For employees to buy into using endpoint data protection technology, products must have easy-to-use user self-service that saves them time and effort,” said Phil Goodwin, research director at IDC. “Moreover, the self-service features should free up IT staff from responding to routine file or data restore tasks. Code42 CrashPlan 5.0 is designed to provide this kind of functionality that in the end protects corporate data, while improving the productivity of both IT administrators and end users.”
Code42 5.0 is released on the heels of an $85 million Series B funding round led by JMI Equity and New Enterprise Associates, Inc. (NEA). In July, Code42 announced Joe Payne, a proven SaaS executive and previously the chairman and CEO of Eloqua, as president and CEO.
