Never Heard of NAS? At CES, See Why You Need It and a New Router!

Synology previews private cloud with 4K transcoding & award-winning router at tech show

BELLEVUE, Wash., Dec. 18, 2015 — /BackupReview.info/ — While many people aren’t familiar with network attached storage (NAS), it’s a best kept secret in the consumer electronics industry. NAS gives you a private cloud, file server, multimedia server, and file backup – all in one. Today, Synology – a global NAS manufacturer – announced that it will preview products from its upcoming 2016 line at CES and show consumers what they’ve been missing.

“For over 40 years, CES has helped companies launch the world’s most innovative consumer technologies,” said Synology Chief Executive Officer Alex Wang. “And Synology is proud to introduce the evolution of private cloud solutions and a new router, on this global stage.”

The Synology CES 2016 Product Preview
During the international tech event, Synology will present:

  • The new DS716+ NAS — a private cloud with 4K transcoding for streaming H.264 4K / 1080p videos on high-definition TVs, digital media players, mobile handsets, and computers.
  • The company’s first router – the RT1900ac, which earned a CES 2016 Innovation Honoree Award, and is a router, private cloud, and media server all-in-one.
  • A range of new products including the 2-bay DS216, the 4-bay DS416j, Apple Watch apps, and mobile applications.

For Free, Synology Products Include Multimedia Streaming and Syncing Apps and a Great OS
Synology NAS provide exceptional value with free desktop and mobile apps for music, videos, photos, cloud syncing, backup, surveillance, the new router, VPN, and more. Unlike other complicated NAS, Synology’s devices are designed with the most intuitive operating system in the industry. DiskStation Manager (DSM) makes it easy for consumers to manage and share files.

Your Own Private Cloud Wherever You Want, Whenever You Want — Without Fees!
While external storage like USB thumb drives and memory sticks plug directly into a computer or device, a NAS uses network connections to provide storage. Consequently, with a Synology NAS, you can access your files – anywhere, at any time – with a network connection. Used as a private cloud – you can share, manage, and backup data with ease and convenience – without the fees that public cloud services often charge.

NAS Models for Every User
Synology offers an extensive line of NAS storage ranging from home, to SMB, to SME. From single-bay desktop units (known as DiskStations) – to rackmounts (called RackStations). The rackmounts can accommodate up to 180 drives with expansion units, and scale up to 1.4PB.

Synology’s Expansion into the Router Market
Always pushing the boundaries for NAS, Synology realized that with more control over the router, the company could create even more innovations for private cloud. For consumers who want more from their Wi-Fi experience, Synology created its first router – the RT1900ac. By connecting a USB storage drive or SD (SDXC) card, the router can become a private cloud and multimedia server with: fast speeds (up to 1.9Gbps), computer and mobile access, advanced user and traffic controls, parental settings, and free apps – ALL for only $149.99.

The NAS manufacturer continued its commitment to creating the best user experience for its first Wi-Fi device with the Synology Router Manager (SRM). The OS uses an interface that resembles a desktop, making it much easier to navigate than traditional routers with complicated UIs. The new RT1900ac router will launch in the US during Q1 2016.
