Leading manufacturer of oil industry products deploys Code42 CrashPlan for endpoint backup, data migration and forensics features

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Jan. 19, 2016 — /BackupReview.info/ — Code42, the leader in endpoint data protection and security for the enterprise, today announced that UTEX Industries, Inc., a global manufacturer of products for the oil and gas industry, selected Code42 CrashPlan to protect and manage end-user data on laptops and desktops.

Previously the company relied on manual end-user data backup via servers and external hard drives for its 1,100 employees. Unsatisfactory end-user adoption rates and several laptop and hard drive thefts resulted in permanent data loss for the company. As a result, UTEX required a solution that easily and automatically backs up all endpoint data, anywhere and all the time, and also provides airtight security and data recovery.

Following a thorough assessment, UTEX identified Code42 CrashPlan as the best solution to safeguard its mission-critical data, due to Code42’s secure cloud deployment option, and the solution’s ability to scale and handle large amounts of concurrent data streams without issue.

“As a privately held company, it’s imperative that our confidential data stays private, and that in the event of a hard drive crash, or loss or theft of a device, all of the impacted data can be readily restored,” said Jeff Hiner, systems administrator for UTEX Industries. “Code42 CrashPlan enables UTEX to keep our encryption keys on-premises—where only we have access to them. It’s scalable and reliable, and gives our IT staff and users total confidence that vital, confidential data is safe.”

Part of Code42 CrashPlan’s appeal to UTEX is that it’s far more than a backup solution. UTEX plans to migrate to Windows 10 and is looking at Code42 CrashPlan to execute the migration. Additionally, the solution provides UTEX’s IT and legal teams with the ability to easily collect and manage end-user data for legal holds and e-Discovery.

“End-user data protection is an essential and fundamental cyber security investment in an era of data breach and loss,” said Karen Pisha, senior vice president of customer success for Code42. “We are proud to partner with UTEX Industries to provide not only a secure endpoint backup solution, but certainty of where endpoint data is and that it can be recovered after an incident.”
