Enhanced version – now available on AWS Marketplace – features file-level recovery, enhanced Windows application-aware backup, Amazon Aurora clusters backup and extended automation

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL – Feb. 17, 2016 — / — N2W Software, a leading provider of backup and recovery solutions for the public cloud, today announced the immediate availability of version 2.0 of Cloud Protection Manager (CPM 2.0), its enterprise-class backup, recovery and disaster recovery solution on Amazon Web Services Marketplace (AWS Marketplace).

Commercially launched in late 2013, Cloud Protection Manager is used by hundreds of customers in more than 30 countries to reliably back up thousands of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances, Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) databases and Amazon Redshift clusters. Leveraging AWS native technology, CPM 2.0 allows AWS customers to automate, control, and maintain backup and recovery activities for their enterprise production environments.

“Cloud Protection Manager is a key component for data protection in a wide range of AWS-based production environments, including many large deployments by Fortune 500 companies, enterprise IT organizations and Tier-1 Managed Service Providers,” said Uri Wolloch, CEO of N2W Software. “With the introduction of CPM 2.0, we have significantly expanded the feature set to bring a variety of innovative backup and recovery capabilities to AWS customers via AWS Marketplace. This comprehensive upgrade focuses on providing our enterprise customers with enhanced automation, usability, and scalability in data protection for their deployments in AWS.”

Cloud Protection Manager 2.0 includes several new features and enhancements:

  • File-Level Recovery – Extending beyond disk-level instant recovery, users can now quickly search and recover files and folders in Amazon EC2 using an intuitive web-based console. This new feature allows users to continue to enjoy the speed of snapshot block-level backup without sacrificing the usability of file-level search and recovery.
  • Efficient and Scalable Windows Backup – CPM 2.0 delivers best-in-class support for application-aware live backup of Microsoft applications in highly automated, scalable and tightly-secured environments. Using a new generation of thin backup agents with built-in support for Microsoft VSS, this functionality is vital for customers running large-scale Windows production environments. With CPM 2.0, backups can be created reliably without interrupting ongoing operations, while ensuring their consistency for a single point in time.
  • Amazon Aurora and MariaDB RDS Backups – CPM 2.0 now delivers extended data protection to all types of Amazon RDS databases, including the newly-released Amazon Aurora clusters and MariaDB. By applying its policy-based backup management to Amazon RDS databases, CPM allows customers to enjoy superior backup resiliency for their mission-critical Amazon RDS databases.
  • Enhanced Automation – With an easy-to-use CLI utility and an extensive set of RESTful APIs, CPM 2.0 allows DevOps teams to seamlessly integrate backup and recovery operations with other cloud automation processes to create a highly automated and streamlined cloud computing environment.

Other new features in the release include one-click Windows server recovery in AWS, Amazon Machine Image (AMI) scheduling, detailed recovery monitoring, support for AWS’ new Asia Pacific (Seoul) Region, and support for all types of Amazon EC2 instances.

“N2W Software is a popular backup solution for Amazon EC2 based on native snapshots. The new set of product features and enhancements demonstrates their commitment to meeting the evolving needs of AWS customers,” said Barry Russell, GM Global Catalog and Channels, AWS Marketplace, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “Backup of cloud environments is a shared responsibility and the availability of the upgraded version of Cloud Protection Manager on AWS Marketplace provides customers with a streamlined way to immediately purchase and deploy the solution to protect their data.”

“Addressing our requests and feedback, CPM 2.0 offers several new features that are instrumental for improving the efficiency, automation and monitoring of our backup operations,” said Alexander Schmid, Cloud Architecture Consultant at ITM Consulting, an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner based in Germany. “When it comes to supporting live backup of Windows servers in AWS, Cloud Protection Manager offers a unique agent-based solution that enables us to easily deploy and manage an application-consistent backup solution for larger-scale Microsoft environments used by our enterprise customers.”
