With CODRTM technology, RecoverX delivers scalable and reliable recovery for next-generation applications and scale-out databases

SANTA CLARA, CA – June 07, 2016 — /BackupReview.info/ — Datos IO, a provider of next-generation data protection solutions, today announced the general availability of RecoverXTM, the industry’s first scale-out data protection software for third platform (IDC 3rd Platform: http://www.idc.com/prodserv/3rd-platform/) applications and distributed databases. Developed upon Datos IO’s patented CODRTM technology, RecoverX protects, recovers and manages third platform enterprise applications including SaaS, IoT, Analytics and e-commerce deployed across on premise, PaaS and IaaS environments.

With capabilities such as scalable versioning and industry-first semantic deduplication, Datos IO RecoverX is ushering in a next-generation class of data protection solutions for the data-centric era of distributed database environments, including DataStax, Apache Cassandra and MongoDB.

“Enterprises are rapidly adopting third-platform technologies to drive business innovation,” said Phil Goodwin, Research Director, Protection, Availability and Recovery at IDC. “IT managers using the distributed databases supporting these next-generation applications need enterprise-class data protection solutions designed specifically for them. With RecoverX, Datos IO is offering a data protection solution designed specifically for these application environments to protect, recover and manage data over its lifecycle.”

Next generation and web-scale applications are rapidly changing the enterprise database landscape, reshaping the way IT and database admins interact with and protect data. To help enterprises thrive and accelerate innovation without compromising data loss due to data corruption, disasters and human error, RecoverX delivers concise, consistent, and logical recovery solutions for applications deployed on either distributed open-source databases or cloud databases.

“New fast-data based applications are characterized by scale and speed where enterprises require immediate and always-on access to data reporting, and equal attention needs to be paid to the management and protection of data,” said Souvik Das, former CTO and Managing VP of Engineering, CapitalOne Auto Finance. “We are very pleased with the early product versions of Datos IO RecoverX, and believe it to be a much-needed product as enterprises look to adapt and scale next-generation applications being deployed on cloud-hosted infrastructure.”

“I can see Datos IO becoming an integral part of the scale-out database revolution, making these databases dependable and durable for the enterprise.” said Debashis Saha, Datos IO Advisor, Innovative Technology Leader. “As enterprises adopt scale-out databases for developer productivity and agility, it is equally important that next-generation data protection products are developed for operational ease of adoption.”

The Technology Behind Datos IO RecoverX: CODRTM
RecoverX is founded upon Consistent Orchestrated Distributed Recovery (CODR) architecture that is not dependent on media servers, and transfers data in parallel to and from file-based and object-based secondary storage. CODR delivers cluster-consistent backups that are highly space-efficient yet available in native formats. CODR allows RecoverX to provide scalable versioning that enables enterprises to protect both Apache Cassandra and MongoDB at any interval and granularity. RecoverX provides one-click recovery in minutes (not hours) for operational recovery and test/dev use, as well as semantic de-duplication to save up to 70% on secondary storage costs.

“As enterprises seek to exploit large-volume, high-ingestion and real-time data, they are turning to scalable, eventually consistent, key-value systems,” said Tarun Thakur, co-founder and CEO of Datos IO. “This fundamental shift raises critical issues in the lifecycle of data management, most notably the need for backup and recovery solutions able to scale with these next-generation systems. RecoverX empowers application and IT owners with enterprise-ready data protection purpose-built for third platform applications – and puts Datos IO at the forefront of a market space experiencing massive growth, yet until recently lacking in data protection and management at scale.”

Systems Compatibility
Datos IO RecoverX supports Apache Cassandra (v2.0, v2.1), DataStax DSE (v4.5, v4.6, v4.7, v4.8) and MongoDB (v3.0, v3.2). Datos IO RecoverX supports a wide variety of secondary storage options with NAS storage for on premise data protection requirements, Amazon S3 storage and Google Cloud Storage support for IaaS and PaaS environments.

Pricing and Availability
Datos IO RecoverX data protection software is available in Standard and Enterprise editions with annual subscription, with a free 14-day trial (usage limits on cluster size and database size apply) on Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) based environments. Pricing is capacity based with no dependency on node count, thus enabling enterprises to scale their applications across a wide variety of cluster sizes.
