Iron Mountain’s highly-secure western Pennsylvania data center delivers compliance support, security, reliability, and Federal-ready environment for NEC’s private cloud service

BOSTON, MA – June 28, 2016 — /BackupReview.info/ — Iron Mountain Incorporated® (NYSE:IRM), the global leader in storage and information management services, today announced NEC Corporation of America, a leading technology integrator of advanced IT, communications and networking solutions, has selected Iron Mountain’s highly-secure underground western Pennsylvania data center (WPA-1) as the primary colocation provider for its SAP HANA® private cloud and operations service. NEC chose Iron Mountain’s location for its comprehensive compliance support and security, federal-ready services, energy efficiency, data center marketplace, and cloud services provider neutrality.

SAP HANA is an in-memory platform designed to make the processing of large data volumes faster and more efficient. NEC engineers delivered an infrastructure as a service (IaaS) blueprint specifically designed to address the resource-intensive needs of SAP HANA and provide a turnkey service to enterprise clients and reseller partners. The selection of a secure data center from Iron Mountain helped NEC achieve SAP-Certified Provider status, attained only through SAP validation of service management processes, security measures, facilities setup, operations experience, and staff; in particular, WPA-1’s reliability was crucial in architecting a solution that featured maximum availability of SAP HANA mission-critical data.

“After an extensive search, we were confident in Iron Mountain’s ability to serve as the data center foundation for our SAP HANA offering,” said Taichiro Hashizawa, executive vice president, NEC Corporation of America. “The audit process for SAP HANA certification is rigorous, and Iron Mountain was instrumental in our success. The level of physical site security, quality of service, customer support, and Iron Mountain’s heritage in managing confidential data, allows NEC to position our SAP Hosting solution as a new level of cloud service for SAP public sector clients deploying SAP HANA.”

NEC’s public-sector integrator and reseller partners offering SAP HANA services to federal agencies appreciate that a FISMA High framework, large federal customer base, energy efficiency, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security Level IV critical facility standards are all available at WPA-1. NEC partners may also leverage Iron Mountain’s ISO 27001, HIPAA, PCI-DSS Level 1, and SOC 2 Type II compliance support to address specific end-user requirements.

“As a Federal Systems Integrator, we’re focused on delivering innovative solutions for the public sector’s rapidly emerging cloud security and technology standards,” said Jonathan Evans, president of Bart & Associates, Inc. a systems integrator of information technology and security solutions. “Bart & Associates implemented NEC’s SAP HANA hosting solution, for our internal SAP instance, which has proven to be very scalable and highly reliable, making it an offering that is a perfect fit for our Federal clients.”

Located more than 200 feet below the earth, Iron Mountain’s underground data center is part of a 200-acre campus in the rolling hills of western Pennsylvania that includes the full breadth of the company’s services. Iron Mountain’s data center offers predictable, long-term scalability with 1.8 million square feet of developed space, and consumption-based power pricing models. As public and private sector organizations face increasing privacy, security and environmental regulations for their data center needs, Iron Mountain’s data center services and western Pennsylvania location – with its stable, highly-secure environment and natural cooling and energy efficiency advantages – are in high demand as the ideal option for hosting critical IT infrastructure and applications.

“Iron Mountain is excited to welcome NEC’s SAP-Certified HANA cloud services offering to our Western Pennsylvania data center ecosystem,” said Mark Kidd, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Iron Mountain. “Our ‘Underground’ is the ideal place to grow this innovative offering and we look forward to supporting the NEC team as they continue to expand this offering.”
