Former Veritas and Symantec Executive Set to Drive Aggressive Growth in Region Following Launch of New Hybrid Cloud Data Protection Solutions

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – 25 July 2016 — / — Acronis®, the global leader in hybrid cloud data protection, today announced the appointment of Tony Drewitt as General Manager for Australia and New Zealand. Drewitt will oversee sales, marketing and business development activities supporting the company’s rapidly growing hybrid cloud data protection business in the region, which includes backup, disaster recovery, file sync and share, monitoring and storage.

Acronis just announced its ground-breaking Acronis Backup 12 solution, along with new hybrid cloud data protection solutions that include Acronis Backup Cloud, Acronis Cloud Storage, and Acronis Monitoring.

Acronis hybrid cloud data protection solutions provide businesses and IT Managers with complete protection and control over their data – whether it resides in the cloud, on-premises, across virtual and physical systems, in remote systems, and on mobile devices.

Australia and New Zealand are strategic growth markets for Acronis. Since the opening of the local Acronis Cloud data centre in Sydney in 2015, and the introduction of a new cloud partner program earlier this year, Acronis has experienced strong growth in the region as business in Australia and New Zealand further embrace the cloud while facing new and dangerous external threats like Ransomware.

To sustain the growth, Acronis will continue investing in top talents and building a strong partner ecosystem in the region, aiming to triple in size in the next five years.

Drewitt is responsible for building on the strong momentum that Acronis has achieved in the ANZ market with a focus on expanding and enabling Acronis channel partners, including service providers and cloud resellers, and helping businesses in Australia and New Zealand keep their data protected in today’s digital world.

Drewitt has over 25 years of sales and commercial experience, having held a number of executive leadership roles with service providers, telecommunications carriers, and cloud technology vendors in Australia. Prior to joining Acronis, Drewitt ran the APAC Global Alliances and Service Provider channel business at Veritas, and held senior roles at Symantec, Juniper Networks, IBM, Vodafone and British Telecom, where he successfully managed large sales and management teams, and executed sales and partner strategies. Prior to moving to Melbourne from London in 2003, Drewitt co-founded Wireless Logic – a leading European IOT business and held senior roles at EuroBrokers in London.

“I see great potential for Acronis solutions in the region. Australia and New Zealand are advanced markets and cloud technology has already been embraced here by businesses of all sizes — because of its availability, cost effectiveness, and flexibility. Acronis brings the much needed data protection layer to these users whose data is increasingly spread across hybrid cloud IT environments and on to mobile devices. I am excited to be part of this dynamic team as we take the Acronis business to the next level in the region,” said Tony Drewitt, General Manager Acronis ANZ.

“Businesses in the ANZ region need to re-evaluate their data protection strategies to make sure they are safe – there’s no time waste. With Tony’s deep knowledge of our target customer needs, extensive experience in channel management, and a true understanding of the value of cloud services and solutions, Tony will bring a great value to Acronis and the local market,” said Steve Goh, Acronis Vice President of Sales for Asia-Pacific & Emerging Markets.

Drewitt will be working from Acronis’ Australian office in North Sydney, and will report directly to Steve Goh, Acronis Vice President of Sales for Asia-Pacific & Emerging Markets.
