Three Small Businesses Won $150,000 Each from Digicel Business; Plan to Use the Funds to Deploy Cloud Backup, Web support and a Closed User Group

SMEs Get $150K Tech Boost from Digicel Business

KINGSTON, JAMAICA – September 5, 2016 — /BackupReview.info/ — Three small business owners who are winners in the Scotiabank Vision Achievers programme plan to use technology that was once available only to large firms to fulfil their expansion needs.

Each winner received a $150,000 tech boost from Digicel Business and will use it to deploy Cloud Backup, Web support and a Closed User Group. They are, The Pineapple Hotel, HBG Associates and Longville Park Pharmacy. The three emerged top performers from a field of 25 participants, following an intense 17-week training programme.

“For a lot of small businesses, ICT holds the key to their growth,” shared Brian Bennett-Easy, General Manager of Digicel Business. “So we wanted to give these companies exactly what they need to achieve their business goals. We hope to work closely with them to identify the technologies that are right for their businesses and help them to use them to maximise their potential and grow.”

Tracey Lettman-Duncan, Manager of the Pineapple Court Hotel said, “I’m very thankful for this prize from Digicel. I hope to use it to develop a closed user group to improve staff communication in my business and get some high speed internet.”

She added, “Currently, we offer complimentary Wi-Fi in all the rooms at our hotel, which is a unique amenity as guests have to pay for this service in other hotels or they can only access it in common areas. We do this because we understand the importance of connectivity to our customers and we want to extend this to our staff as well.”

The Ocho Rios hotelier also noted that technology like Cloud Backup for her Property Management and Accounting systems would also be highly beneficial in the event of a disaster.

Horace Gyles, Managing Partner at HBG Associates, an accounting firm in Freeport, Montego Bay also spoke about the need for Cloud services in his business.

“This prize from Digicel Business will definitely help me to improve my company’s online presence. I also want to purchase some software to improve some internal processes and getting cloud backup is definitely a must.”

He added, “Right now, my systems at the office are fully automated, and I can log into my office from anywhere. Having Cloud Backup technology will certainly help me to enhance these processes and make it better for both my clients and staff.”

In addition to the technology prize for the top three performers, the company also hosted a Digital Marketing workshop for the participants in the programme.
