NAKIVO Backup & Replication v6.2 Beta enables backup, replication, and recovery of paid EC2 instances sold through AWS Marketplace

CAMPBELL, CA – September 13, 2016 — /BackupReview.info/ — NAKIVO Inc., one of the fastest-growing virtualization and cloud backup software companies for VMware and AWS EC2 environments, today announced that it has started an open Beta program for NAKIVO Backup & Replication v6.2.

The new Beta version provides full support for paid AWS EC2 instances, sold through AWS Marketplace. Amazon has launched AWS Marketplace to help customers quickly find and start using software and services that they need, without having to spend time on building new servers in the cloud from scratch. AWS customers can simply launch pre-configured instances and pay only for what they use, by the hour or month, while AWS handles billing and payments. NAKIVO Backup & Replication v6.2 Beta now provides a simple, reliable, and affordable way to back up such paid AWS EC2 instances. The backups can be stored in the same AWS region, copied to a different region, or even sent to an on-premises location. To further facilitate data protection, backups can be done cross accounts, so even if primary account credentials get compromised, a copy of EC2 instance backups can be stored in AWS cloud under a different account.

NAKIVO Backup & Replication v6.2 Beta performs a complete backup of EC2 instances and their data stored on EBS volumes. By default, NAKIVO Backup & Replication v6.2 Beta creates application-aware backups of Windows-based and Linux-based EC2 instances, and ensures that data of applications and databases is consistent and can be properly recovered.

To save storage space, NAKIVO Backup & Replication v6.2 Beta automatically deduplicates instance backups at the block level, and saves only unique data to the backup repository. Furthermore, the data is automatically compressed to consume the least amount of disk space possible.

When it comes to recovery, NAKIVO Backup & Replication v6.2 Beta provides a variety of options. OS files, Microsoft Exchange objects (such as emails), and Microsoft Active Directory objects (such as users) can be instantly recovered directly from compressed and deduplicated EC2 instance backups. If an original EC2 instance was lost or damaged, the v6.2 Beta enables restoring the instance into the same region, a different region, or even cross accounts. More importantly, all recovery types can be done regardless of where the backup repository is located – in the same AWS region, in a different AWS region, or even in an on-premises location.

NAKIVO Backup & Replication v6.2 Beta also provides the ability to replicate paid EC2 instances. Instance replication creates and maintains identical copies of selected EC2 instances in the same AWS or in a different AWS region. The replicated EC2 instances remain in the powered off state so there’s no extra charge for the software or compute resources. Yet, if the production infrastructure is hit by a disaster, the EC2 instance replicas can be powered on for near-instant disaster recovery.

“We are excited to invite VMware professionals and Amazon cloud users to try the new v6.2 Beta,” said Bruce Talley, CEO and co-founder of NAKIVO. “NAKIVO Backup & Replication v6.2 Beta further improves AWS cloud support and will enable our customers to protect and recover VMware and AWS cloud environments in a single pane of glass.”

All Beta program participants completing the program requirements will receive an Amazon gift card. More details and v6.2 Beta download are available at www.nakivo.com/en/beta/v6-2.html
