New Features Securely Extend the Digital Enterprise Ecosystem to Include Partners and Customers

SANTA CLARA, CA – Sept. 20, 2016 – /BackupReview.info/ — Syncplicity, the global leader of the hybrid enterprise file sync and share (EFSS) market, today announced new product enhancements that extend enterprises’ sharing and collaboration capabilities to include a trusted network of partners and customers. Syncplicity empowers enterprise users to seamlessly and securely share files and folders with trusted organizations, while maintaining control over the digital data that is flowing between them and avoiding data leakage to non-trusted entities.

These new features leverage Syncplicity’s rich granular group-based policy engine, making it possible for organizations to put controls on how data is shared within their digital enterprise ecosystem: suppliers, partners, affiliated companies and customers. Administrators can give select groups of users affiliate sharing privileges or remove them based on a user’s role and department within the organization. The new policies alleviate the concerns security conscious enterprises have about enabling external sharing by creating an extension to their internal network – a digital ecosystem of trust and data control.

“It is simply not enough for enterprises to only have visibility and control of data and information while it is being used and shared internally,” said Jon Huberman, CEO of Syncplicity. “Our new features enable enterprises to collaborate freely within the realm of their trusted partners and customers, while being confident they retain control of their data. These new features help reduce the use and risk of shadow IT systems, while facilitating seamless file sharing within an organization’s extended enterprise trusted network. This dramatically increases productivity without sacrificing compliance or security.”

Unlike other solutions, Syncplicity provides a comprehensive set of controls that allows customers to:

  • Build a trusted digital environment for extending file sharing with partners and customers by assigning specific groups of users the domains with whom external sharing is approved.
  • Extend security controls and sharing policies to both outbound and inbound folder sharing separately, based on Active Directory group membership.
  • Leverage new folder re-sharing rights controls to override company-wide and group-based external sharing policies to ensure that users who are approved to share externally cannot expose specific confidential information.
  • Shut down data leakage by optionally setting inbound folder sharing for specific groups of users to be read-only.

“External sharing is critical to Texas A&M University and Syncplicity’s new controls give me confidence that my teams can share files and folders securely among our trusted group of organizations,” said Danny Miller, System Chief Information Security Officer at Texas A&M University. “In today’s digital world, the firewall is no longer the boundary for data and information sharing. These new Syncplicity enhancements enable us to lock down sharing within a trusted group of affiliated organizations, helping us stay compliant and secure – maintaining central control while enabling easy end-user collaboration.”
