NetApp converged infrastructure gives neteffect technologies the flexibility to blend on-premises and cloud services for customers

SUNNYVALE, CA – April 13, 2017 — / — “Previous IT solutions that promised to be dynamic and expandable quickly reached their limitations, which ultimately threatened to affect our sales,” says John Campbell, Chief Technology Officer of neteffect. “By combining NetApp storage with Cisco UCS servers, we have the flexibility to grow quickly while offering our customers a cost-effective disaster recovery solution and better performance at no additional cost. We’re going to get a lot of longevity out of this platform.”

Based in Charlotte, N.C., neteffect technologies creates custom solutions that blend on-premises IT and cloud services. The company needed an IT solution that could scale both performance and capacity for internal applications as well as its external netCare cloud disaster recovery offering.  With the help of NetApp (NASDAQ:NTAP) and partner Tego Data Systems, neteffect implemented a hybrid FlexPod solution with both AFF and FAS storage. It resulted in an immediate improvement in performance and reliability for the company’s backup, archive, and disaster recovery services.

Today, neteffect can quickly respond to the demands of its internal users and cloud customers, as well as easily scale performance and capacity independently without disruption.  With FlexPod using NetApp all-flash arrays, internal applications now run up to 10 times faster than they did before, boosting productivity and efficiency. Maintenance windows have shrunk from hours to minutes, so it takes fewer resources to migrate virtual machines and spin up new systems. That results in significant cost savings for customers.

In addition, neteffect has been able to expand its solution offerings to provide cost-effective disaster recovery (DR) services. Rather than build and manage their own secondary data recovery sites, customers can now replicate data to neteffect’s archival storage tier. If there is an outage, they can be up and running on neteffect’s FlexPod-based cloud offering in an instant. As an added benefit, customers with NetApp storage in their primary environments can use NetApp native replication tools to eliminate the need for expensive third-party software, which saves money and makes data recovery an affordable option.

With its new solution, neteffect can:

  • Quickly respond to demands of internal users and cloud customers
  • Scale performance and capacity independently without disruption
  • Improve application performance up to 10x
  • Cut maintenance windows from one hour to one minute
  • Improve customer experience with flash, cost savings, and affordable data recovery solutions
