Awards recognize excellence and innovation in endpoint data security and recovery

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – May 08, 2017— /BackupReview.info/ — Evolution17 – Code42, the leader in endpoint data protection and recovery, announced the winners of the second annual Evolutionaries awards at its Evolution17 conference. The Evolutionaries honor ten organizations for their extraordinary innovations in how they develop, deploy and adopt applications in data protection and recovery.

“The Evolutionaries recognize organizations who are on the forefront of delivering the best possible data protection and real-time recovery solutions,” said Joe Payne, president and CEO of Code42. “It’s an honor to help share the stories behind their success–they’re truly an inspiration. Congratulations to the 2017 Evolutionaries awards winners.”

After reviewing more than 60 award nominations, winners were selected in ten categories, including the Guardian Award, Atlas Award, Breakthrough Award and more. Award winners spanned a wide range of industries such as consulting, technology, education and security.

Winners of the 2017 Evolutionaries awards include:

  • Qualcomm Inc., for the Freshest Refresh Award, which recognizes the most compelling tech refresh project. With a 1,000-device monthly update quota, the project’s IT admin successfully streamlined and shortened data migration process from five hours to 90 minutes per device. “Device migrations can take hours of work time away from users,” said Michael Pham, senior IT manager of end user services at Qualcomm. “Our goal is to improve the employee experience during migrations by drastically reducing the time users are without their device. We are rolling out Code42 to help us accomplish this in a way that frees up IT resources as well.”
  • Georgia Institute of Technology, for the Breakthrough Award, which recognizes the organization that creatively and successfully educated and empowered end users to get on board with data protection. Georgia Tech drove user adoption on campus via a creative toolkit that used a variety of online and offline communications and community assets. “Ensuring that data from ongoing research is consistently backed up is a perennial challenge, but to have a tool that is easy to use and also compliant with requirements for export-controlled, health and other sensitive data is a game changer,” said Dan Forsyth, senior research technologist at Georgia Institute of Technology. “It’s something that both our researchers and our compliance officers can support.”
  • Pacific Northwest National Lab (PNNL), for the Evolutionary Award, which recognizes the organization that realized its need for modern endpoint backup. PNNL was successful in upgrading and expanding data protection to all necessary OS formats – Mac, Windows, and Linux. Pacific Northwest National Laboratory works to free its staff from as much of the burden of IT systems as possible so its staff can focus more on their research. But data created by staff also needs to be protected across the multiple platforms used at PNNL. Using an automated, unified, cloud-based backup solution securely protects PNNL data and enables scientists to spend more time on research and less on safeguarding their data.
  • IBM, for the Catalyst Award, which recognizes a team who gained executive buy-in for a modern data protection solution at their organization. IBM continues to partner to offer best-in-class data security solutions to a truly global workforce. “Code42 has been helping IBM protect its data during the world’s largest enterprise Mac and Windows 10 deployments,” said Robert Wolfe, cloud backup program manager at IBM. “The success of this partnership has enabled us to continue working with Code42 to expand solutions for data security projects.”

Code42 will continue to acknowledge the achievements of its customers through future initiatives such as Code42 Community, a digital forum also announced at Evolution17 where customers can exchange best practices and expertise, share product knowledge, experiences and build relationships.
