— Commvault Chief Marketing Officer Chris Powell to Join Explorer Robert Swan in Final Push to South Pole —

Tinton Falls, N.J. and Washington, D.C. and South Pole, Antarctica – Nov. 7, 2017 — /BackupReview.info/ — Commvault (NASDAQ: CVLT), the global leader in enterprise backup, recovery, archive and the cloud, today at Commvault GO 2017 announced that it will be the exclusive data partner for the 2041 Foundation, providing complete backup and data protection for the critical data captured during the Foundation’s history-making expeditions. Commvault also announced that its Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will take part in the final 10 days of the Foundation’s monumental South Pole expedition in January.

With this partnership, Commvault joins other leading global brands including Shell, Toyota, W-Foundation, Patagonia and others to broadcast outreach campaigns that will help drive change in the way the world uses energy. Commvault’s role as the official data partner will extend through a multitude of Swan’s expeditions and 2041 Foundation initiatives including the South Pole Energy Challenge (SPEC), IAE Antarctica 2018 and the Trans America Cycle.

Commvault CMO to journey to South Pole
As part of the partnership, Commvault CMO Chris Powell will also join polar explorer and environmentalist, Robert Swan OBE (Officer of the British Empire) and the SPEC expedition on the final 10 days and last 60 nautical mile trek to the South Pole – the Last Degree. Powell begins the trek in early January and can be followed on his journey at @justpowell.

“Everyone at Commvault is excited to be a part of protecting the critical historical data tied to the 2041 mission and expeditions – one of the most remarkable human journeys,” said Powell. “I’m honored to represent Commvault, joining Swan and his team for what I know will be a life changing experience. His tenacity and grit exemplifies the spirit of Commvault, which is what initially brought us together for Commvault GO 2017.”

The SPEC will be the first-ever expedition to the South Pole powered solely by clean energy technologies. On Nov. 15, 2017, Swan and his son will embark on the 600-mile, eight-week journey on foot to the South Pole. Over this expedition, they will demonstrate and showcase cutting edge technologies robust enough to work in one of the harshest environments on Earth while collecting critical scientific data.

Swan kicks off Commvault GO 2017
Today, Swan spoke to the more than 2,000 attendees at Commvault’s second annual customer conference, Commvault GO 2017 in Washington, D.C. which celebrates the remarkable things global organizations are doing with data. Swan joined industry thought leaders, customers, partners and Commvault executives to speak about his unique personal experience accomplishing remarkable undertakings, how data played a key role, and to provide attendees with insight on how they can leverage their own data to unlock new opportunities and strive for competitive advantage.

The 2041 Foundation was founded by polar explorer and environmentalist Swan, who is also the first man ever to walk to both the North and South Poles. It was Swan’s original expedition to the South Pole that was the inspiration for 2041, an organization he founded dedicated to the preservation of the Antarctic. The mission of the 2041 Foundation is to inspire, stimulate and connect organizations and communities who seek to protect our world and create a more sustainable, clean energy future.

As the data partner for the 2041 Foundation, Commvault will leverage its modern data management technology to receive, index, store, and distribute the historically significant messages, video, photographs and scientific data sent directly from Antarctica while the SPEC expedition is underway. This mission critical information will be received by Commvault’s Managed Service offering through the Commvault Data Platform and will leverage the international data capabilities of the Microsoft Azure cloud to derive insights the Foundation can utilize for future expeditions. Commvault will be the hub for all expedition data, preserving all business records and critical data for the 2041 Foundation for the next three years.
