At the OpenStack Summit in Sydney, Storage Made Easy debuted their new M-Stream™ addition to their enterprise File Fabric™

LONDON, UK – 7th November 2017 — /BackupReview.info/ — At the OpenStack Summit, in Sydney – Australia, Storage Made Easy™ (SME) presented M-Stream™, a new addition to their Enterprise File Fabric™. M-Stream™, currently in beta, is a feature that parallelizes large downloads for Object Storage Clouds such as Ceph, OpenStack Swift and Amazon S3.

Doug Soltesz, Director of Product Solutions at SME, demoed M-Stream™ live on stage at the Sydney Summit. The demo illustrated how the SME File Fabric moves large files at high speed using multiple data streams. The configuration ran cross continent over the Internet from a Ceph cluster to IBM Cloud Object Storage (IBM COS). The results showed a 10x improvement over a single data stream for genomics and media data files.

M-Stream™ provides a simple and secure way for companies to maximize data pipe utilization, irrespective of distance, latency and operating system involved. M-Stream™ is compatible with file systems and S3-compatible object storage endpoints.

Mr. Soltesz said: “Prospects and customers want to move to Object Storage. Their users are unwilling to tolerate long waits in rehydrating large files from object storage. Existing tools tend to be CLI driven and they are unwieldy for typical users. Storage Made Easy developed M-Stream™ with the enterprise use case in mind. It removes the complexity of working with object storage systems where large file streaming on demand is required.”

Using parallel M-streams between S3 compatible storage and the Storage Made Easy File Fabric data transfer for individual large files is no longer constrained by an overall transfer rate.

About Storage Made Easy (SME)
The Storage Made Easy™ Enterprise File Fabric™ enables IT to regain control of “cloud data sprawl” to unify on-premises and on-cloud files into a single easily managed converged infrastructure with policy-based controls for governance, audit and security.

The File Fabric solution provides a “blanket” enterprises wrap around all their data: on premises, within public and private clouds, as well as on third-party software vendor clouds (SharePoint Online and Salesforce for example).

Customers use the SME File Fabric product to unify corporate data to enable workgroup collaboration with universal controls for security, encryption, audit, and data access. Companies will have access to a greater understanding of where and how sensitive data is stored, transferred, and accessible with particular focus on how companies are able to police and audit data to ensure enforcement of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) in addition to other regional data legislation.
