Cobalt Iron Inc., a leading provider of cloud-based data protection, announces the landmark 4.1 release of its Adaptive Data Protection (ADP) platform, which provides software-defined, enterprise-class data protection, automation, management, and predicative event remediation, regardless of workload or infrastructure

LAWRENCE, KANSAS – Sept. 18, 2018 — /BackupReview.info/ — Cobalt Iron Inc., a leading provider of cloud-based data protection, announces the landmark 4.1 release of its Adaptive Data Protection (ADP) platform, which provides software-defined, enterprise-class data protection, automation, management, and predictive event remediation, regardless of workload or infrastructure. ADP 4.1, the seventh and most significant release to date, features support for all enterprise operating environments, including VMware, Hyper-V; physical environments such as Linux, iSeries, and Windows; and IBM Cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Alibaba Cloud, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure. For applications, ADP 4.1 provides simplification and automation of SAP HANA, DB2, MS SQL, and Oracle backup and restore.

According to polling results from Gartner Inc.’s Data Center Infrastructure and Operations Management Summit, 32 percent of IT leaders reported that developing a private/public/hybrid cloud strategy is the largest data center challenge they face.

“ADP 4.1 delivers on the promises of multicloud data protection services from virtual to physical to cloud. Clients are no longer captive to legacy proprietary hardware and application software platforms. ADP 4.1 delivers scalability and analytics-driven automation via SaaS platform at half the cost of legacy providers,” said Richard Spurlock, CEO and founder of Cobalt Iron.

With the introduction of ADP 4.1, Cobalt Iron delivers key capabilities for data protection modernization while eliminating proprietary software and hardware solutions:

  • Multicloud and cross-cloud support for Alibaba Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, and Microsoft Azure
  • Global management via a single pane of glass
  • ServiceNow, LDAP, Active Directory, and Remedy integration via RESTful API
  • Granular role-based data protection provisioning
  • SLA policy management
  • Bill/show/chargeback management, including accounting billing codes/tenant usage

ADP 4.1 provides a single, unified provisioning, policy management, and reporting user experience to deliver data protection from 1 terabyte to more than 100 petabytes with on-premises, hybrid, or public cloud infrastructure. In addition, ADP 4.1 eliminates the daily complexity of managing multiple backup applications running on a wide variety of server and storage resources. Finally, ADP 4.1 provides data protection flexibility and agility so that companies can escape the legacy infrastructure complexity and unharnessed cost explosion.

“Cobalt Iron modernizes IBM Spectrum Protect — formerly TSM — and is highly regarded by IBM. It accelerates the backup process and simplifies management tasks for our TSM customers,” said Chris Dedham, Senior Storage Solutions Architect, Mainline Information Systems.
