Trilio Simplifies Hyperconverged Data Management and Protection with Native, Application-Aware Backup and Recovery for Both Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Virtualization and Red Hat Virtualization

BOSTON, MA – May 07, 2019 — / — Trilio, the leader in data protection and recovery solutions for OpenStack, today announced the extension of its platform to support Red Hat’s hyperconverged infrastructure. Now, customers of Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Virtualization solution can enjoy native backup and recovery without ever leaving the Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Virtualization interface.

This release extends Trilio’s cloud-native technology to unlock application-aware, point-in-time recovery for Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Virtualization and Red Hat Virtualization:

  • Incremental forever backup of single or multi-VM workloads, including metadata about applications, operating system, VM network configuration, storage volumes, and more
  • One-click restore of complete workloads or selected VMs
  • Optimized management, including role-based access control and Ansible deployment

“As our customers expand their operational deployments of next-generation hyperconverged infrastructure solutions toward more business-critical use cases, they also need to efficiently back up and secure their data,” says Ranga Rangachari, vice president and general manager, Storage and Hyperconverged Infrastructure at Red Hat. “Trilio’s support of Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Virtualization offers customers a data protection solution that can support their architecture and data protection requirements.”

Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Virtualization is an integrated solution designed for business-critical applications in virtualized environments, as well as for various tactical edge deployment scenarios. Built on the strengths of Red Hat Virtualization, Red Hat Storage, and Red Hat Ansible Automation, Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Virtualization is designed to simplify planning and procurement, streamline deployment and operations, and provide a single lifecycle experience for virtual compute and storage resources. Because Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Virtualization is built from open source compute, storage, and management components, organizations can choose among validated configurations built on industry-standard hardware that best meet their workload needs.

“Trilio has always pushed to deliver data protection solutions that are easy to deploy and easy to manage — from our early days as the Raksha project to the past few years as we have expanded and matured our product,” says David Safaii, CEO at Trilio. “By extending our native Red Hat Virtualization support to include Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Virtualization, we can arm customers with enterprise-class backup and recovery capabilities to quickly deploy production workloads on Red Hat-based virtualized infrastructure and hybrid clouds.”

TrilioVault is:

  • Agentless, through the use of native Red Hat Virtualization APIs, which do not require additional servers or resources
  • Self-service, enabling users to backup and restore VMs and workloads via the Red Hat Virtualization and Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Virtualization native management interfaces
  • Linearly scalable with minimal performance degradation
  • Minimally disruptive during installation and snapshot capture
  • Optimized for Red Hat solutions including Red Hat Ansible Automation, Red Hat Ceph Storage, and Red Hat OpenStack Platform director

TrilioVault’s self-service approach also makes it easy for users to have full control over their infrastructure via native management interfaces. Through TrilioVault’s forever-incremental backups, users can now recover any point-in-time with just one click, including application blueprints, virtual machines, network configurations, security groups/policies, metadata, and storage data.
