Federal government trusts Druva for FedRAMP compliance and ease of use

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – May 20, 2019 — /BackupReview.info/ — Druva, Inc., the leader in cloud data protection and management, today announced the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the federal government’s primary agency addressing cancer research and treatment, is using Druva to replace its legacy hardware solutions for backup, restore and archiving of data. As the only FedRAMP certified data management solution, Druva’s unique technology ensures compliance with stringent government regulations and ease of management with automation capabilities.

As part of the National Institutes of Health, NCI manages cancer research centers, local cancer control programs and an international cancer research data bank. Faced with the challenge of properly backing up and protecting data from thousands of workers, NCI needed a solution that could ensure compliance with minimal administrative oversight, work in the background on employees devices and help streamline a ceaseless refresh program. Only Druva’s patented deduplication process enables NCI to complete back ups within minutes, minimizing bandwidth needs and impact on daily tasks, while ensuring the ability to meet requirements such as Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

“We had intolerable data losses from hardware failure,” said Jeff Shilling, Acting CIO, NCI. “We had to become a more automated, nimble and agile organization, and cloud backup was technology we wanted to evaluate. The Druva platform aligned with our goals for digital transformation by replacing our efforts with functions that Druva’s automated cloud services can do. We can now spend more time on empowering the NCI staff to fulfill the organization’s mission.”

After deploying Druva, which is built on AWS, NCI has recognized the benefits of a cloud-based solution, and is already looking for ways to further expand its use. The organization is currently working with AWS to set up its own cloud-focused applications and services that will further benefit the federal agency’s employees, positioning it as the cloud-first leader within the federal government.

“Druva is the only FedRAMP certified data protection solution,” said Jaspreet Singh, founder and CEO, Druva. “That makes us a trusted partner for federal organizations, like NCI, who are embracing cloud to improve how data is protected and managed. We’re helping customers manage their growing data, keep it secure, and meet compliance needs, all while reducing cost and complexity for IT.”
