SAN JOSE, CA – Oct. 14, 2021 — / — Panzura has announced the appointment of Brian Brogan as the company’s new Vice President of Global Sales Channels. Brogan will lead efforts to drive the success of Panzura partners around the world, including system integrators, value-added resellers, technology alliance partners, and OEMs. He comes to Panzura with more than two decades experience in the IT channel, having served in leadership roles at Automation Anywhere, SAP, EMC (now Dell EMC), and IBM.

“With unmatched performance and value, our goal is to provide our channel partners with the best experience and unbeatable margins so we can drive explosive growth together. Brian is the perfect fit—with two decades of demonstrated expertise and know-how, he digs deep with our sales and integration partners to ensure they can manage, grow, train and execute their Panzura business,” said Dan Waldschmidt, chief revenue officer at Panzura.

Brogan is responsible for growing Panzura’s channel programs and optimizing the company’s range of partner offerings while ensuring sales representatives and administrators have the tools they need. His appointment reflects Panzura’s continued investment in and commitment to the channel.

The company recently introduced the new Panzura Guarantee, a 30-day, no-risk speed-to-implementation promise for taking the Panzura global file system live via a global network of resellers, integration and MSP partners.

In addition, Panzura offers a set of incentives to boost success and profitability including a 35% discount on all sales, and generous SPIFFs. All have been designed to address the challenges of making money in the channel in a post-pandemic economy.

“Technology partners, systems integrators and the reseller community are pivotal to Panzura’s success,” said Brogan. “My priority is to remain tightly aligned with them, so we can continue pushing the limits together, and help our shared customers move fast toward digital transformation with a smart, secure solution to manage their hybrid-cloud data.”

Panzura allows organizations to quickly and securely accrue the benefits of cloud-based data management, with solutions that manage, distribute and protect data in the most efficient and productive possible ways. Security and cloud opportunities take center stage; Microsoft joins as guest speaker

NORWALK, Conn. – October 13, 2021 — / — Datto Holding Corp. (“Datto”) (NYSE: MSP), the leading global provider of cloud-based software and security solutions purpose-built for delivery by Managed Service Providers (MSPs), kicks off DattoCon NOW, the largest open-ecosystem MSP-centric event, with the launch of two new cloud-based security offerings — Datto SaaS Defense and Datto Continuity for Microsoft Azure. The first-ever virtual DattoCon attracted more than 6,000 registrants from 69 countries who provide technology services and support for small and medium businesses (SMBs) worldwide.

“MSPs are in the security business,” said Tim Weller, CEO of Datto. “The value of companies increasingly lies in their digital assets — both applications and data — and those assets are moving to remote and cloud environments, which means a rapid growth in attack vectors. Securing the digital assets of their clients is the primary mission of MSPs. The new world of work brings complexity which creates massive MSP opportunities.”

Weller continued, “Datto exists to innovate for MSPs and provide them with technology. The company started in security with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery as the last line of defense, and today we are extending that for Microsoft Azure workloads as well as unveiling a new first line of defense with advanced security for Microsoft 365, including email phishing and malware protection. Datto’s sell-through security solutions are simple, effective, and provide our MSP partners with great margin opportunities.”

The conference features key security technology demonstrations, including Datto SaaS Defense, Datto RMM Ransomware Detection, and Datto Continuity for Microsoft Azure. Microsoft executive Tyler Bryson will join the DattoCon keynote, and Microsoft is holding a session at DattoCon entitled “The MSP Opportunity for Microsoft Azure in SMB.”

“SMBs place their trust in MSPs to help them navigate the complexities of modernization and cloud,” said Tyler Bryson, CVP Global Partner Services, Microsoft. “Microsoft is excited to partner with Datto to empower MSPs with trusted solutions to help drive SMB cloud transformation. Together, we expect to deliver SMBs the promise of a secure, scalable, and modern cloud experience on Azure, with the peace of mind provided by Datto Continuity for Microsoft Azure.”

Also at DattoCon NOW, Datto’s Information Security Team will share the perspective of threat actors targeting SMBs and help MSPs identify critical capabilities and preparedness activities needed to build strong cyber resilience. MSPs will walk away from these sessions with a deeper understanding of their threat profile, what they can do right now to protect themselves, and how Datto’s technology can help mitigate these threats.

The conference features breakout sessions on all Datto products and a best practices track on growing an MSP business. Over 100 MSP vendors join with dedicated booths staffed by experts. Recorded sessions will be made available to Datto partners following the event. The full DattoCon NOW agenda can be found here —

Introducing Tamper-Proof and Secure Access to Deleted Data, Bringing Ability to Reverse Accidental Deletions and Mass Purges by Internal or External Threats

SUNNYVALE, Calif. ? October 13, 2021 — / — Druva Inc., the Data Resiliency Cloud company, today introduced Druva Rollback Actions, allowing customers to easily and quickly roll back unauthorized or accidental deletion activity. When combined with Druva’s AI-driven continuous monitoring capabilities and 24/7 support from Druva Cloud Ops, customers will be able to rapidly monitor, fight and mitigate internal or external threats. In tandem with the recently announced Druva Curated Recovery, customers can now experience one of the industry’s most comprehensive and innovative platforms to protect their data from threats both inside and outside their organization.

Insider attacks and unauthorized activities stemming from events such as stolen credentials or hacked systems are often marked by an attacker’s focus on destroying as much data as possible, including data archives. Such attacks, if not caught early, can significantly impact an organization’s backup copies, and in turn, its ability to restore data or environments successfully. Other solutions offer minimal deletion prevention which can be overridden with the correct administrator credentials or require outside service providers, weakening safeguards. For Druva customers, backups purged during mass deletion events are automatically placed into temporary, tamper-proof storage for up to seven days, while Druva’s continuous monitoring team alerts administrators to the unusual activity. Together, these actions are designed to thwart bad actors who may be trying to destroy large amounts of data quickly, helping administrators ensure data is not being deleted accidentally or maliciously.

“Inside actors and criminals stealing credentials have become incredibly sophisticated and are bypassing security measures to initiate unauthorized activities and data deletions,” said Prem Ananthakrishnan, Vice President of Products, Druva. “By creating temporary storage to automatically capture and hold mass deleted data, customers can easily view and roll back the potential impact of these incidents. Dozens of Druva customers have already benefited from this feature over the last year, and we know customers will benefit from having this ability easily accessible within the Druva Data Resiliency Cloud.”

In the case of credential misuse where a bad actor may maliciously remove endpoints, users, virtual machines, NAS or file shares or even databases, Druva Rollback Actions will allow administrators to quickly recover not only the data from deleted backups but also environmental objects as well. In addition, customers can safeguard against accidental or unintended deletions, providing the administrator the ability to revert the unintended action without any loss of data and restoring productivity rapidly.

Available in the coming months through a self-service function, Druva Rollback Actions will be enabled by default for all users and administrators and will be able to temporarily store data from 24 hours to up to seven days. Only administrators will have the ability to recover the data, and these users will also have access to full audit trails to review the deletion activity by each user.

Learn more about Druva Rollback Actions at the Cyber Resilience Virtual Summit on Oct. 13. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from thought leaders and peers about how organizations are fighting back against increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks and leave with actionable information on emerging best practices that span data protection and recovery and how to integrate modern security and backup technologies.

Druva’s Multi-Layer Defense Framework
Druva offers customers the industry’s most expansive data resiliency platform, offering data integrity, operational security and accelerated ransomware recovery as well as pre-built Integrations with Security Monitoring (SIEM) and Security Orchestration (SOAR) Tools. First line of defense for MSPs protects cloud-based applications

NORWALK, Conn. – October 13, 2021 — / — Datto Holding Corp. (“Datto”) (NYSE: MSP), the leading global provider of cloud-based software and security solutions purpose-built for delivery by Managed Service Providers (MSPs), unveiled SaaS Defense, its advanced cyber threat protection product, live on stage at DattoCon NOW, the largest open-ecosystem MSP-centric event.

Following its acquisition of Israel-based cyber threat detection company BitDam earlier this year, Datto proudly debuted its SaaS Defense security product built exclusively for MSPs. The advanced threat protection and spam-filtering solution provides MSPs with patented technology to proactively detect and prevent malicious malware, phishing, and Business Email Compromise (BEC) attacks that target Microsoft Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.

“MSPs protect and manage more Microsoft 365 accounts collectively than any one enterprise. This technology will now be put to work to help keep small and medium businesses safe by blocking the number one attack vector — email, and it actually works across the entire Microsoft 365 suite,” said Tim Weller, CEO of Datto. “We were so confident about the impact this technology will have on MSPs that we wanted to own it, and bring the talented minds who created it to work with us on our greater security mission.”

According to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center, phishing remains the #1 reported cybercrime type in the United States, with BEC complaints exceeding $1.8 billion in 2020. Globally, Datto’s latest State of the Channel Ransomware Report found that nearly 1 in 4 MSPs reported ransomware attacks on clients’ SaaS applications, with 64% of those reporting attacks within Microsoft 365.

Datto SaaS Defense creates the opportunity for MSPs to attract new clients and expand market share with a robust yet simple security solution that eliminates the need for additional headcount or in-depth security training. Benefits include:

  • Proactive monitoring, detection, and elimination of unknown malware threats and phishing attempts that other solutions miss with signature-independent technology designed to analyze the composition of a safe email, chat, or document rather than just scanning for already known security threats.
  • Minimizes the time to detection by preventing zero-day threats as soon as they are encountered, without manual interference or end-client disruption. SaaS Defense does not rely on third-party software, signatures, or malware reports.
  • Robust reporting capabilities show why a threat was flagged as malicious without a complex scoring matrix.
  • Seamless deployment and management sets new clients up in minutes.
  • Complete integration with Datto SaaS Protection provides a multi-layered security approach to protect against permanent cloud data loss caused by user error, ransomware, or other security incidents.
  • Streamlined, reliable protection saves MSPs time and resources previously spent on threat reporting, managing false positives, and updating blocklists.

“This product is a game-changer for us. We needed a more forensic solution for our clients that quickly and clearly showed why a threat was flagged,” said Charles Love at ShowTech Solutions, an MSP in Tampa, Florida. “SaaS Defense does just that; not only is it easy to use, but it lifts the covers in a way none of the other current solutions on the market can.”

In his opening keynote address at DattoCon NOW, CEO Tim Weller surprised all current Datto SaaS Protection partners in attendance with a ready-to-use SaaS Defense product available in their Datto Partner Portal to protect them and their clients. Global availability of Datto SaaS Defense for the entire MSP community is expected in November of 2021. Learn more about Datto SaaS Defense here —

Integration of enterprise-grade cloud backup offering streamlines billing and customer management for partners, helping them achieve a 360-degree view of their corporate communications on a single, easy-to-use platform

DALLAS, TX – October 12, 2021 — / — Zix Corporation (Zix) (NASDAQ: ZIXI), a leading provider of cloud email security, productivity, and compliance solutions, today announced its cloud-based data backup and recovery solution is now available through its intuitive Secure Cloud platform. Now, customers can experience complete visibility into communication security and compliance for Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace, SharePoint, OneDrive, Salesforce, Box and Dropbox.

Zix is committed to providing comprehensive support for cybersecurity and compliance services for its partners and their end customers. The company acquired CloudAlly and its robust suite of award-winning, ISO 27001 certified and GDPR/HIPAA compliant solutions. Now, this seamless integration of CloudAlly’s offerings into Zix’s Secure Cloud platform strengthens its value for partners by eliminating the need for them to manage these services through different environments.

“SaaS providers are in the infrastructure business, not the backup business,” said Dave Wagner, CEO, Zix. “We heard from our partners firsthand that backup and recovery services were needed within our Secure Cloud to achieve a single pane of glass view just by logging in to the portal. With this announcement, Zix is excited to become the only cybersecurity company that offers Microsoft 365 licensing, third-party security and compliance, resiliency via backup and recovery, and email continuity, all through one convenient portal.”

Backup and recovery keep businesses resilient against accidental data loss, threat actors, broken systems workflows, and natural disasters. Using a SaaS application doesn’t mean organisations will automatically have their data backed up. However, according to ESG’s Master Survey Results on 2021 Data Protection Cloud Strategies, confusion still exists regarding who is responsible for backing up SaaS applications such as Microsoft 365 and Salesforce. Only 13% of IT professionals surveyed understood that they are solely responsible for backing up the data on these applications. This oversight is leaving many organisations with serious security and compliance gaps.

“At Think Cloud we pride ourselves on our innovative approach and using best-in-class cloud solutions. Secure Cloud provides us with a single platform to protect our clients’ Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 environments. Giving our clients and ourselves peace of mind.” Scott Clark, Co-Founder of Think Cloud says, “We love this product as it makes protecting our clients data so simple and gives us advanced functionality.”

New Portworx survey reveals Data Mobility and Data Protection as the biggest challenges when managing stateful apps on Kubernetes

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 12, 2021 — / — Today at KubeCon North America, Portworx® by Pure Storage® (NYSE: PSTG), the most complete Kubernetes Data Services Platform, announced the release of PX-Backup 2.1, its market-leading application and data protection platform for modern applications. Portworx also released new survey data assessing end user perspectives on running stateful applications on Kubernetes.

The latest enhancements to PX-Backup provide enterprises with comprehensive data protection, multi-cloud mobility, and improved compliance support for applications running on Kubernetes, regardless of whether they are running on premises or in the cloud. New enhancements include:

  • Application Portability between clouds: PX-Backup delivers application portability between any cloud or on-premises data center. With the latest version, customers can back up Kubernetes applications running in one cloud or data center and restore them in any other.
  • Improved Compliance via 3-2-1 Backup Rule Support for any storage: The 3-2-1 backup rule is an industry standard for any data protection plan, ensuring recovery from several failure scenarios. With this release, PX-Backup can now offload backups from CSI snapshots to object storage. Enterprises running Kubernetes apps on Portworx PX-Store, any CSI compliant storage service, or cloud-based storage can now use PX-Backup to maintain three copies of data (production, snapshots, backup copy) across both disk and object storage. This provides flexibility to store data offsite (in any cloud), fulfilling the requirements of a 3-2-1 based backup program.
  • Expanded Recovery with Support for File Shares: In addition to existing capabilities to backup block-based workloads, enterprises can now backup and recover applications running on read-write-many (RWX) persistent volumes provisioned as file shares from FlashBlade, Portworx proxy volumes, or any NFS server.
  • Improved Protection using PX-Secure: PX-Backup users can now leverage both the role-based access controls and encryption services offered in Portworx PX-Secure, gaining an added layer of security support for their modern applications and the ability to reduce management overhead.

End User Survey: Perspectives on Running Stateful Applications on Kubernetes
Kubernetes continues to play a critical role in driving business agility and resilience as enterprises work to modernize their applications and infrastructure. An end user survey fielded among 500 IT professionals in the U.S. and U.K. found that over half of respondents cited increasing agility (58%) and increasing resilience (52%) as the biggest drivers behind their team’s decision to build and deploy stateful applications on Kubernetes. Key survey findings include:

  • Impacts to a Company’s Bottom Line: IT Professionals agree that running stateful apps on Kubernetes allows them to develop (54%) and scale (55%) their apps faster, while allowing developers to be more efficient (55%).
  • Backup & Restore is a Key Requirement: Backup & Restore (55%), Data Mobility and Capacity Management (49%), and High Availability (48%) were identified by IT Professionals as the most critical requirements for stateful apps running on Kubernetes.
  • Data Mobility and Protection are a Challenge: Data Mobility (29%) is the requirement IT Professionals struggle to achieve the most when running stateful apps on Kubernetes, while Data Protection (46%) is the biggest operational challenge.
  • Stateful Workloads are Expected to Increase: A majority (87%) of respondents expect the percentage of stateful workloads over the next 12 months to increase, while 9% expect it to stay the same, and only 4% expect it to decrease.

“The latest survey findings underscore the urgency of securing mission-critical Kubernetes applications with a comprehensive data protection and compliance strategy. With the latest PX-Backup enhancements, we’re excited to offer global customers a vendor-agnostic solution to truly manage and secure their modern, yet distributed, Kubernetes infrastructure.” — Murli Thirumale, VP and GM, Cloud Native Business Unit, Pure Storage.

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Oct. 12, 2021 — / — Cobalt Iron Inc., a leading provider of SaaS-based enterprise data protection, today announced that DCIG has named the company’s industry-leading Compass® enterprise SaaS backup platform as a Top 5 Large Enterprise VMware vSphere Backup Solution. This is the fifth time Compass has been ranked on a DCIG Top 5 list, having earned four other rankings in earlier DCIG reports. These include the Top 3 Google Cloud Platform Backup Solutions, the Top 5 Azure Cloud Backup Solutions, the Top 5 Enterprise AWS Cloud Backup Solutions, and the Top 5 Enterprise Anti-Ransomware Backup Solutions.

“Cobalt Iron delivers Compass as a hybrid, cloud-native software-as-a-service solution. Cobalt Iron maintains its Compass software and makes it available for use both on-premises and in six general-purpose clouds,” said DCIG President and Founder Jerome M. Wendt in his latest report. “Compass’ architecture positions enterprises to protect their vSphere VMs centrally, wherever they reside.”

In his detailed DCIG report, Wendt distinguishes Compass from the other VMware vSphere backup solutions DCIG evaluated through the following characteristics:

  • Grants instant access to VMs. Using its instant access feature, enterprises can access, run, and modify a VM without restoring the data. Compass performs this instant access restore while maintaining an immutable stored version of the VM’s data.In this restore type, Compass creates a definition of the VM in vSphere without restoring its data. Once started, the VM runs directly against the Compass backup repository. When shut down, Compass removes the VM from vSphere along with any resources it used. Enterprises may use these restores for analytics, development, or any use cases that only require access to a VM’s data.
  • Offers near-instant restore capabilities for even very large VMs. Enterprises can perform near-instant restores for even multiterabyte VMs through vSphere using Compass’ vSphere client plug-in. Compass instantly restores a VM with full read-write capabilities. During the restore, administrators can create a new VM or replace the existing one. To facilitate rapid, nondisruptive restores, administrators choose the disks to recover and the mount proxy to use. Selecting between available mount proxies becomes critical if restoring multiple VMs, as this helps minimize contention during recoveries.
  • Provides comprehensive reporting capabilities via an intuitive interface. An oft-overlooked component of backup administration, backup reporting takes on new importance as ransomware has become a concern. Compass includes reports that monitor for items such as application and client storage usage as part of its overall package. However, Compass also monitors for and reports on potential malicious activity in the environment. Enterprises can generate these reports by scheduling them or producing them on demand. They can customize the reports by filtering on applications or regions to create the exact reports they need. Once the reports are created, Compass stores them so that enterprises can reference them later as needed.

“DCIG’s evaluations carry a lot of weight in this industry, so having another vote of confidence from these respected analysts is further confirmation that enterprises that rely on VMware vSphere can trust Cobalt Iron with their data security,” said Andy Hurt, chief marketing officer at Cobalt Iron.

The Storage Magazine “Storries XVIII” Marks ExaGrid’s Fourth Consecutive Yearly Win

Marlborough, MA – October 12, 2021 — / — ExaGrid®, the industry’s only Tiered Backup Storage solution, today announced that the company was honored with the “Enterprise Backup Hardware Vendor of the Year” and “Immutable Storage Company of the Year” awards, announced at the 18th annual Storage Magazine Storage Awards ceremony, “The Storries XVIII,” held in London on October 7, 2021.

Winners are determined by public vote, which further validates ExaGrid’s differentiated product architecture and outstanding customer support. This year’s win adds to ExaGrid’s previous wins at “The Storries” including winning “Enterprise Backup Hardware Vendor of the Year” and “Storage Performance Optimisation Company of the Year” in 2020, “Enterprise Backup Hardware Product of the Year” in 2019, and “Enterprise Backup Storage Vendor of the Year” in 2018.

“We are thrilled to win these two awards this year” said Bill Andrews, President and CEO of ExaGrid. “Our team is dedicated to the continuous effort to innovate and improve on the Tiered Backup Storage solution that ExaGrid offers, with a goal to offer the best backup storage possible while improving the performance, scalability, and economics of backup. Many thanks to everyone who voted for us to win these awards, we are truly grateful. This award comes on the back of three consecutive record-breaking revenue quarters that were all both cash and P&L positive.

“ExaGrid Tiered Backup Storage is the only system with a disk-cache Landing Zone that is tiered to a retention repository, and offers the only approach to deduplication that doesn’t negatively impact backup and restore performance. Earlier this year, we release a new line of appliances, including the EX84. The largest scale-out ExaGrid system, comprised of 32 EX84 appliances, can take in up to a 2.7PB full backup, making it the largest in the industry,” said Andrews. “ExaGrid offers the only two-tiered backup storage approach with a non-network-facing tier, delayed deletes, and immutable objects to recover from ransomware attacks, so we are especially honored to win the ‘Immutable Storage Company of the Year’ award.”

ExaGrid Tiered Backup Storage – Built for Backup
ExaGrid provides Tiered Backup Storage with a front-end disk-cache Landing Zone, the Performance Tier, which writes data directly to disk for the fastest backups, and restores directly from disk for the fastest restores and VM boots. The long-term retention data is tiered to a deduplicated data repository, the Retention Tier, to reduce the amount of retention storage and resulting cost. This two-tiered approach provides the fastest backup and restore performance with lowest cost storage efficiency.

In addition, ExaGrid provides a scale-out architecture where appliances are simply added as data grows. Each appliance includes processor, memory and network ports, so as data grows, all resources required are available to maintain a fixed-length backup window. This scale-out storage approach eliminates expensive forklift upgrades, and allows for mixing appliances of different sizes and models in the same scale-out system, which eliminates product obsolescence while protecting IT investments up front and over time.

About ExaGrid
ExaGrid provides Tiered Backup Storage with a unique disk-cache Landing Zone, long-term retention repository, and scale-out architecture. ExaGrid’s Landing Zone provides for the fastest backups, restores, and instant VM recoveries. The retention repository offers the lowest cost for long-term retention. ExaGrid’s scale-out architecture includes full appliances and ensures a fixed-length backup window as data grows, eliminating expensive forklift upgrades and product obsolescence. ExaGrid offers the only two-tiered backup storage approach with a non-network-facing tier, delayed deletes, and immutable objects to recover from ransomware attacks. Visit us at or connect with us on LinkedIn. See what our customers have to say about their own ExaGrid experiences and learn why they now spend significantly less time on backup in our customer success stories.

Lakes Grammar, a primary and secondary school in Australia, saves 60% on backup costs and 50% on ongoing maintenance each year with NAKIVO Backup & Replication

Sparks, NV – October 11, 2021 — / — NAKIVO Inc., a fast-growing software company for protecting physical, virtualized, and cloud environments, has announced today that Lakes Grammar has selected NAKIVO Backup & Replication to protect their environment.

Lakes Grammar is an independent co-educational Christian school, providing a broad education for students from kindergarten to grade 12. The school emphasizes the development of intellectual quality in a supportive learning environment and encourages students to adopt a personal Christian faith as the foundation for living. Offering a range of sporting, cultural, and other co-curricular opportunities, the school aims to meet the needs of students in a secure, caring, supportive Christian community.

The school has one main campus with multiple buildings and three physical hosts with 30+ virtual machines running in their environment. Virtual machines store Microsoft SQL, file servers, mail servers, and other services running on both Windows and Linux operating systems. A reliable backup solution is vital for business continuity and maintaining data availability. If critical data becomes unavailable, the school risks disrupting their services for students, as teachers will not be able to access the files they need to teach.

Initially, the school was backing up to disk. This remained their procedure after they moved to a VMware backup solution. Later, the school migrated their environment from VMware to Nutanix, and they decided to change their backup solution, as well. Other solutions on the market had particular Nutanix version requirements put in place, which was an issue for the school. The main criteria for any new solution were ease-of-use, low implementation costs, and the compatibility of the product with their current backup storage. NAKIVO Backup & Replication was easy to set up and implement and provided all the needed functionality for the school from the start.

NAKIVO Backup & Replication provides data protection for virtual, physical, cloud, and SaaS environments. NAKIVO Backup & Replication offers fast and reliable data protection for Nutanix AHV environments, as well as for VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V. NAKIVO Backup & Replication seamlessly integrates into Nutanix AHV environments and provides agentless, application-aware, and incremental VM backup. With NAKIVO Backup & Replication, you can streamline data protection routines, save time, reduce costs, and optimize the use of IT resources.

“NAKIVO Backup & Replication was simple to set up and has efficient storage of backup data on our QNAP storage. In reality, you always take a keen interest in your backups, however, our experience has been very much different – a set it and forget it approach. Installing and configuring NAKIVO Backup & Replication could not have been easier. As soon as the virtual machine was added into our Nutanix environment, everything from that point was configured from the web interface,” says Brett MacLarty, IT Manager at Lakes Grammar.

NAKIVO Backup & Replication uses native change tracking technology – Nutanix Changed Regions Tracking – to identify and back up only unique data blocks and thus save storage space. Moreover, LAN-free data transfer and network acceleration improve backup performance and reduce backup time. “We back up on a daily basis and the entire backup takes approximately 50 minutes. Ease of use for the backup and recovery jobs is fantastic. Information and alerts from NAKIVO Backup & Replication are easy to action, with plenty of support information available from within the console. Overall, there have been so few issues that we have not contacted support,” says Brett.

“Ease of use and simplicity is what we like most about NAKIVO Backup & Replication. Our Nutanix environment is reliably protected with the solution. Migrating our previous solution to support Nutanix quickly became cost prohibitive for the school. The initial savings of switching to NAKIVO Backup & Replication was 60%, with an ongoing maintenance savings of 50% each year. NAKIVO Backup & Replication will continue backing up our new virtual machines in our Nutanix environment, as our environment changes,” says Brett.

BOSTON, MA – October 7, 2021 — / — Wasabi Technologies, the hot cloud storage company, today announced that TMC, a global, integrated media company, has named Wasabi Object Lock a 2021 Cloud Computing Security Excellence Award winner. Object Lock, natively available through Wasabi, is a data protection feature introduced that delivers a new level of data protection, preventing malicious or accidental operations that can lead to significant data loss or alteration, while simplifying the often complicated though critical immutability process.

The Cloud Computing Security Excellence Award, presented by Cloud Computing Magazine, recognizes companies that have most effectively leveraged cloud computing in their efforts to bring new, differentiated offerings to market. With Object Lock, applications or storage administrators can designate certain data objects as immutable, meaning the content cannot be altered or deleted by any application or user including ransomware attackers, for a specific period of time. It guarantees that once the information is stored with Wasabi, it will remain there until the lock expires.

The added layer of protection offered by Object Lock is essential for protecting data from cybersecurity threats, as today’s attacks have evolved and cybercriminals go after backups and archives as part of their ransomware attacks. Object Lock is also critical for maintaining regulatory compliance and consumer protection standards, as well as industry-specific rules like HIPAA, FINRA, and CJIS for securing and preserving electronic records, transactional data, and activity logs.

“Recovering from a cybersecurity incident, whether a malicious ransomware attack or accidental human error is a time-consuming, technical process. That’s why a robust data protection strategy with immutability and cloud backup can be the difference between business as usual and all operations grinding to a halt,” said David Friend, Co-Founder and CEO of Wasabi. “Object Lock was designed to work seamlessly within Wasabi’s industry-leading price and performance model featuring no fees for egress or API requests. Not only do users know their data is protected with Wasabi, they also have the flexibility to test business continuity and incident response to strengthen their cybersecurity posture amidst today’s ever-evolving risks.”

“Recognizing leaders in the advancement of cloud computing, TMC and Cloud Computing magazine are proud to announce Wasabi Object Lock as a recipient of the Cloud Computing Security Excellence Award,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. “Wasabi Technologies is being honored for their achievement in bringing innovation and excellence to this crucial market segment.”

Greater Grace International School, an English-language preparatory school in Hungary, ensures smooth daily operations with NAKIVO Backup & Replication

Sparks, NV – October 11, 2021 — / — NAKIVO Inc., a fast-growing software company for protecting physical, virtualized, and cloud environments, has announced today that Greater Grace International School has selected NAKIVO Backup & Replication to protect their environment.

Greater Grace International School is an international, private school located in Budapest, Hungary. The school was established in 1991 and grew from one classroom to over 200 students. Representing about 30 nationalities, the school successfully prepares students for colleges and universities all over the world. Istvan Pirger is an IT and Facility Manager who has been with the school since 2000. Istvan is responsible for managing the IT infrastructure of the school.

The school has two buildings on campus with one ESXi server and a Synology NAS server each. Istvan manages around ten virtual machines that contain financial and business data about the school. Other VMs store Windows servers, printer servers, an electric door opening system, a PBX phone system, and a custom student content management system. “Four years ago, our only server crashed, and everyone had to work on paper for a week or two before I was able to buy and configure a new server. This situation proved to our management that data protection is vital and investing in hardware and backup software is key to keeping data safe. When things are running smoothly, no one notices what happens in the background. Only when something drastic happens then things begin to change,” says Istvan.

Due to the gravity of that crash, the school reevaluated priorities and decided to virtualize their environment and invest in new hardware and software. Previously, backups were done with a free backup software that had multiple disadvantages. “New files and folders were created and then got lost, the disk space filled up quickly, the software sometimes did not back up the data at all or the admin sometimes forgot to update the changes in the backup software. Recovery was always a problem. When the server crashed, we just got lucky that the data stayed intact,” says Istvan.

One of Istvan’s former IT colleagues recommended NAKIVO Backup & Replication as a possible new backup solution for the school. “We needed automated backup software that was built specifically for virtualized environments — a product that would do backups every day and successfully. I believe we truly selected the best possible product for us,” says Istvan.

“With NAKIVO Backup & Replication, I like that full servers can be backed up or replicated. If the servers crash, they do not need a full reinstall. Previously, we had to reinstall servers, remember all the settings, restore the file backups, and sometimes compromise if the reinstall did not work out the way we expected. I enjoy the fact that NAKIVO Backup & Replication is fully automated and how fast the software switches to a VM replica. We have financial software that requires manual tasks and has been a pain, while NAKIVO Backup & Replication works with ease and does not require constant monitoring,” says Istvan.

Greater Grace International School does backup and replication jobs overnight. As anything can happen with the school’s hardware, the IT team can replicate VMs to a second building and just switch on a VM replica when needed. “If anything goes wrong with the source VM, I can turn on the VM replica in seconds. I can also switch back to an earlier version of the VM. I really appreciate this automated approach,” says Istvan.

“We have a PBX phone VM that sometimes crashes for some reason. With NAKIVO Backup & Replication, we can recover this VM to previous recovery points and have the system running again. I’m not sure how else I would solve this problem because we are not experts in the phone system. Other than that, sometimes someone accidentally deletes a file and we can restore that in seconds. It’s truly brilliant,” says Istvan.

“I don’t know if we could have continued with the previous software, in the long run, as the software was pretty much outdated. We did not spend much money on our previous software. Our server crashed and we almost lost our precious data. Thus, from a cheap solution, we went to the state-of-the-art NAKIVO Backup & Replication. The school’s daily operations are running smoothly and data used by students, faculty, and staff is protected,” says Istvan.

The combination of Storage Made Easy’s Enterprise File Fabric and Object Storage from Cloudian helped AUB enhance data accessibility and it is documented in a newly released customer case study

LONDON, UK – October 07 2021 — / — The combination of The Enterprise File Fabric and Cloudian Hyperstore was used to improve storage workflow and collaboration for end users at Asia United Bank.

AUB is a publicly-listed universal bank that has been in operation for 23 years, joining the ranks of Forbes-listed companies and an illustrious league of Philippine banks.

The Bank undertook a revision of systems, including enhancing data accessibility for end users, coupled with disaster recovery. With the aid of their technology partner TIM Engineering, they considered well-known solutions before settling on a combination of Storage Made Easy’s (SME) Enterprise File Fabric and Object Storage from Cloudian, both provided by TIM’s partner Nubetech, a technology distributer based in Singapore. These improvements needed to be implemented without disrupting AUB’s workforce and clientele.

SME worked with all partners to ensure a smooth implementation and adoption of the new solution stack. This was achieved within the speci?ed timescales, deploying the Enterprise File Fabric to 1,000 bank team members which enabled end users to securely access data from Cloudian Object Storage in addition to the Bank’s existing on-cloud and on-premises data.

Information can now be accessed via web, desktop and mobile channels securely, at a high speed, with all data being encrypted. All movements are recorded in secure audit logs, providing total con?dence for the Bank and its customers enabling the Bank’s teams to share information both internally and externally, simply and securely.

Mr. Raymund Mangahas, Vice President and DC Operations Head of AUB said: “Deploying the Enterprise File Fabric solution from SME with Cloudian object storage has enabled us to maximize our secure storage investment and improve work?ows and collaboration across the Bank.”

Platform recognized for Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS), Data Replication and Disaster Recovery in G2 Fall 2021 Grid® report

BOSTON, MA – Oct. 07, 2021 — / — Zerto, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, today announced it has been named a leader in the G2 Fall 2021 Grid Report for Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS), Data Replication, and Disaster Recovery. The company also received top overall scores in the Results and Usability Indexes for disaster recovery, each based on user satisfaction ratings from customer reviews.

Zerto’s Leader status in the Disaster Recovery report is supported by the top overall scores in both the Results and Usability Indexes. In the Results Index, Zerto received higher scores than any other vendor in three distinct Disaster Recovery categories: Best Results overall, Best Estimated ROI, and Users Most Likely to Recommend. In the Usability Index, Zerto also received higher scores than any other vendor in three categories: Best Usability overall, Easiest to Use, and Easiest Administration.

“We are extremely pleased to receive this recognition from the G2 community. We strive to give every organization the capability to defend itself from the consequences of ransomware and data loss but it’s always great to hear first hand from customers that it’s working.” said Caroline Seymour, VP of product marketing at Zerto. “Being recognized by G2 for disaster recovery as a service, data replication and disaster recovery shows us that our platform and our team are delivering the solutions that allow our customers to get back up and running when their systems are down.”

To provide a fair evaluation, G2 maintains strict criteria for recognizing vendors with high satisfaction scores. Based on customer satisfaction and scale (determined by market share, vendor size, and social impact), the Fall 2021 Grid® Report for each of the three categories ranks vendors into four quadrants—Leaders, High Performers, Contenders and Niche players. Leaders are rated highly by G2 users and have substantial scale and market presence, as well as global support and service resources.

Recent customer reviews submitted to G2 demonstrate the high-quality user experience, performance and versatility offered by the Zerto platform, with feedback including:

“We leverage Zerto for Disaster Recovery failover between our primary data center and our secondary data center. We put all of our critical, Tier 1 applications into Zerto replication groups so we can fail them over in case of an emergency. We have also used Zerto for data center consolidations and migrations since it is a great tool to be used for that type of project as well. We like the flexibility that Zerto provides us and its overall ease of use.” – Manager, Infrastructure

“Zerto is very easy to get setup and replicating the VM’s between the sites. We have used it successfully for our Datacenter Migration Project where we have Migrated 800+ server from VMware and Hyper-V Platforms to our new datacenter on the VMware Platform. It is highly customizable so you can change IP addresses, domains, etc via scripts when you bring servers up in the new site. we have not had any major issues with the software either during the Migration process.” – Administrator

“I like the analytics portal because it gives me an overview of my environment. I enjoy that I have a single pane of glass for a health check of my environment. The other thing that I did like best was the mobile app. I currently have the app on my iPhone and check it daily. I can do this from anywhere by using my MyZerto portal credentials and not having to start a VPN connection to check the status of our environment.” – Regional Director of IT

Integration Empowers SecOps with Automation and Operational Simplicity to Accelerate Threat Discovery, Investigation, and Response to Ransomware Attacks

SAN JOSE, CA – Oct. 06, 2021 — / — At a time when organizations are more concerned than ever about surging and sophisticated ransomware attacks, Cohesity and Cisco have joined forces to integrate Cohesity Helios, a next-gen data management platform, with Cisco SecureX, a unified platform for simplified security experience.

This first-of-its-kind integrated data protection solution with Cisco SecureX, based on Cohesity DataProtect, automates the delivery of critical security information to organizations facing ransomware threats, helping to accelerate time to discovery, investigation, and remediation. It empowers SecOps to collaborate easily and effectively with ITOps and NetOps to strengthen data security postures.

The solution is timely, as organizations worldwide are grappling with ransomware and outdated legacy data management solutions. Cybersecurity Ventures predicts that global cybercrime costs are expected to reach $10.5 trillion annually by 2025 and that a business will fall victim to a ransomware attack every 11 seconds in 2021.

Essential to all effective enterprise security strategies are system-wide awareness, early detection, and rapid response. The Cohesity Helios-Cisco SecureX integration addresses these challenges and delivers:

  • A simplified experience – Accelerate ransomware threat investigations and incident management by aggregating and correlating insights into compromised data with other global intelligence and contextual information in a single platform.
  • Unified visibility – Instantly see in one view what matters most and how it’s affecting an organization’s data. Share ransomware threat information seamlessly between platforms and teams to improve discovery, response, and recovery times.
  • Efficient operations – Meet critical SLAs across the full lifecycle– from discovering to recovering from ransomware attacks – with automated data-protection workflows between SecOps, ITOps, and NetOps.

Cohesity next-gen data management enhances Cisco SecureX by adding visibility and context to data “events of interest,” complementing Cisco’s existing capabilities to automatically aggregate signals from networks, endpoints, clouds, and apps. IT admins and security operations center (SOC) teams can concurrently view alerts when a ransomware attack strikes against enterprise data. Cisco SecureX aggregates this information with other threat intelligence sources, enabling the SOC to quickly respond directly from the SecureX dashboard. This can include initiating a workflow to restore compromised data or workloads to the last clean snapshot.

“We are excited to be on a journey with Cohesity and Cisco,” said John Gaede, director of information systems, Sky Lakes Medical Center. “The Cohesity Helios-Cisco SecureX integration will further strengthen our data security posture by gaining unified visibility to ransomware vulnerabilities, streamlining collaboration across security and IT teams, and, if necessary, accelerating recovery time after increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks.”

Cohesity offers comprehensive anti-ransomware capabilities to help protect backup data from cybercriminals. The unique Cohesity architecture helps ensure that backup data is immutable and cannot be encrypted, modified, or deleted. Its software, driven by AI-powered insights, continuously monitors for any anomalies in an organization’s data. If the worst happens, Cohesity helps locate a clean copy of data to reduce downtime, minimize loss, and ensure business continuity.

“Data backups are the last line of defense against ransomware, but bad actors often go after them first,” said Matt Waxman, head of product, Cohesity. “Unlike traditional, fragmented security and data protection solutions that hinder data security due to complexity, siloed visibility, and manual operations, Cohesity + Cisco SecureX integration empowers SecOps, ITOps, and NetOps teams with the same visibility and streamlined collaboration in responding to data compromises—all with exceptional Cisco experience end to end.”

“Cisco SecureX’s comprehensive security platform offers customers a system-wide view of security threats and issues. Adding the Cohesity Helios data protection and next-generation data management solution to Cisco SecureX provides businesses with superior ransomware detection and response capabilities,” said Al Huger, VP and GM of Security Platform and Response at Cisco. “Protecting the data is just as important as helping companies quickly recover from an attack. The combined Cisco SecureX and Cohesity Helios solution does just that, so customers can get back to business as usual.”

“Cyberattacks continue to grow more sophisticated, as well as more severe in their financial and operational repercussions,” said Krista Macomber, Senior Analyst, Evaluator Group. “As a result, it is critically important that customers can rapidly identify threats, assess the blast radius of cyberattacks, and initiate a coordinated response and recovery to ensure that the business is protected and remains available. This is where triangulating data-driven analytics across backup, production and network environments – and combining this insight with rapid recovery capabilities – comes into play.”

Cohesity is now a Cisco Secure Technical Alliance Partner and a member of Cisco’s security ecosystem. This security partnership builds on Cohesity as a Cisco SolutionsPlus partner for next-gen data management; Cohesity Helios as a validated, S3-compatible backup, disaster recovery, and long-term retention solution for Cisco Secure Workload (formerly Cisco Tetration); Cohesity ClamAV app on Cohesity Marketplace based on a Cisco open source antivirus solution; and Cohesity integrated secure, single sign-on (SSO) with Cisco Duo.

REDWOOD CITY, CA – October 06, 2021 — / — Box, Inc. (NYSE:BOX), the leading Content Cloud, today announced new capabilities and enhanced integrations that enable organizations to collaborate securely and seamlessly across any application. Later today at BoxWorks 2021, the company will reveal an all-new Box Notes and an updated Box Mobile app to help users easily collaborate from anywhere and on any device. Box will also showcase Box Sign, its e-signature capability, along with deepened integrations with Microsoft 365, Slack, and Zoom. Taken together, these announcements give customers one secure and intuitive platform to manage their content in the Box Content Cloud.

“Hybrid work is the new normal, and it’s clear that businesses need one place to manage and secure their content,” said Diego Dugatkin, Chief Product Officer at Box. “Our vision for the Content Cloud is to integrate and power the complete content lifecycle, making it simple to collaborate from anywhere, automate workflows, and keep data secure and compliant. As we kick off our second virtual BoxWorks 2021, we’re introducing powerful new innovation for organizing your files and working together in real-time, as well as enhanced integrations that make it easy to bring content into the applications teams use every day.”

With approximately 70 percent of companies in the U.S. and UK planning to establish a hybrid work environment post-pandemic, the office of the future is being completely redefined. Work is taking on new formats and is constantly evolving to meet an organization’s needs, yet content today still reflects a static, paper-based foundation that doesn’t account for teams being in different places at different times.

All-New Box Notes
More than 100,000 businesses already leverage Box’s cloud-native platform to power digital-first experiences for employees, customers, and partners. To drive even more seamless internal and external collaboration, Box will reveal an all-new Box Notes designed to help teams collaborate no matter where they are. With this new innovation, marketing teams can create project plans to track progress and author launch announcements while collaborating in real-time across internal teams and external agency partners; sales teams can develop sales plays, call scripts, and email templates to stay in sync; and recruiting teams can use Box Notes to gather interview feedback across the hiring team to streamline the process.

The enhanced Box Notes capabilities include:

  • The ability to include a table of contents, anchor links, and more to simplify content organization and navigation within a Box Note.
  • Call out boxes so users can better highlight content.
  • Code blocks to simplify the technical collaboration process.
  • In-line cursors so users can keep track of collaborator edits in real-time.
  • Enhanced table capabilities with an easy, intuitive interface so users can structure and format content more easily.
  • Security and control capabilities, like granular permissions and access stats, since Notes is built within the Box Content Cloud.

The all-new Box Notes is expected to be generally available in January 2022 and will be included in the core Box offering at no additional cost.

New Box Mobile App Experience
To make it easier than ever to get work done from anywhere, Box will unveil an enhanced mobile app experience so customers can do more with Box from any device. Whether work is happening in the field, in an office or from home, with the all-new Box Mobile app users are connected to their content and have the flexibility to work on and protect files from anywhere.

The new mobile capabilities include:

  • An updated Capture Mode, for iOS and Android, that turns mobile devices into intelligent tools for seamlessly capturing, scanning, and uploading photos, audio, or documents, making it even easier for field teams to add content directly into Box.
  • Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology that recognizes text automatically and turns scanned documents into searchable PDFs with multi-language support so organizations can easily organize and find content they have uploaded to the cloud.
  • A redesigned iPad experience with a simplified layout and new drag and drop capabilities for increased productivity and improved navigation.

The all-new mobile experience is available for free today in the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Box Sign

At BoxWorks 2021, Box will also showcase its new e-signature capability, Box Sign. Included in all Business and Enterprise plans, Box Sign delivers unlimited signatures from within the web application and a robust set of APIs to streamline and modernize the way agreements are managed and governed in the cloud. Since rolling out in July, Box Sign is already being used to power digital transactions such as employee onboarding, vendor agreements, and purchase orders.

Box Sign features include:

  • Ability to send documents for e-signature directly from Box to anyone, including those without a Box account, with support for over 15 languages, making for a seamless sender and signer experience worldwide.
  • New security functionality, including signer authentication via SMS and password-protection for documents sent out for signature.
  • Compliant signatures since Box Sign inherits Box’s compliance profile, including HIPAA, SOC, ISO, FedRAMP, and more.
  • Box Sign capabilities in the Box for Salesforce integration, which allow customers to generate and send NDAs, contracts, and more directly from within Salesforce.
  • Access to a world-class developer experience, including a robust set of Box Sign APIs, rich documentation, and ‘Get Started’ guides.

Box Sign is expected to be available this month to all customers in the U.S. and Canada on Business and Enterprise plans at no additional cost. It will continue rolling out globally in the coming months. More information can be found here.

In addition to integrating with Salesforce, Box connects to more than 1,500 applications to make it even easier for teams to move between their favorite applications securely and seamlessly. With approximately 175 apps used in the average enterprise, businesses continue to rely on best-of-breed technologies to power the way they work but need a single source of truth to manage content. Later today, Box will preview deepened integrations with Microsoft 365 and Slack. Box will also showcase its newest integration with Zoom. More information on each can be found below.

Box for Microsoft

Later this morning, Box will announce the following enhancements to its Box for Microsoft Office and Teams integrations:

  • An enhanced Box for Microsoft Office integration to enable real-time co-authoring on Office desktop and mobile apps – including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint – with all edits automatically saved to Box. Complementing the existing web-based Office Online integration, users will now be able to simultaneously collaborate on documents across desktop, web, and mobile.
  • An updated Box for Microsoft Teams integration that will allow customers to default to Box as a storage option in Teams, helping to minimize content fragmentation. Box and Microsoft have tens of thousands of joint customers, and this enhancement will extend the ability to unify content in Box under a consistent security, compliance, and governance policy.
  • Additional control and choice for IT organizations, including granular options at the individual, team, and organizational levels, to streamline the deployment process and simplify user adoption.

“We know teams need flexibility and integrated experiences that power collaboration and productivity—especially now with hybrid work,” said Kirk Koenigsbauer, Chief Operating Officer & Corporate Vice President of Microsoft’s Experiences and Devices Group. “We are delivering more streamlined experiences across our applications to make sure that customers using both Box and Microsoft 365 can easily and securely use our products together.”

The enhanced Box for Microsoft Office integration is expected to be available in early 2022 and the Teams integration is expected to be available by the end of the year. More information can be found here.

Box for Slack

Box will also announce a deepened integration with Slack that will enable Box to be a content layer within the Slack environment.

The new enhancements will enable joint users to:

  • Use Box as a content layer in Slack by uploading files directly to Box through the Slack interface.
  • Maintain Box’s security and compliance over any content, even when files are uploaded through Slack.
  • Streamline how they use Box within Slack by simplifying content processes and unifying content across Slack and other apps.

These new capabilities in the Box for Slack integration are expected to be available later this year and will be included in the core Box offering at no additional cost.

Box App for Zoom

To enable a more productive workforce regardless of location, Box will also demo the Box app for Zoom. Announced in September, this in-product integration makes it even easier for customers to work together, securely and effectively, across distributed teams.

The Box app for Zoom gives customers:

  • Access to their Box content while never having to leave the Zoom platform, creating a more seamless experience between the two platforms.
  • The ability to browse, preview, and share their Box files directly from Zoom, whether the meeting is active or not.
  • The ability to select a Box file to present to all attendees with just one click.

The Box App for Zoom is available today in the Zoom App Marketplace.

Protect Content from Cybersecurity Threats

In order to bring work together in one secure Content Cloud, Box applies its enterprise-grade security, compliance, and governance features to all Box content even as it is accessed across various applications and devices. Advancing its industry-leading security posture, Box will also be announcing new capabilities for Box Shield that leverage deep learning technology, in addition to external threat intelligence, to analyze the data within files and contain sophisticated malware before it causes business disruption. More information can be found here.

Call For Box Impact Fund Proposals

Box is launching the Box Impact Fund and will award four $25,000 grants for a total $100,000 to nonprofits focused on child welfare and crisis response. Applications are accepted October 6th through November 5th with winners announced in early December.
