Darrell Bailey joins to drive growth across the NHS, private healthcare, occupational health and elite sports markets

ASHTEAD, UK – 16 January 2020 — /BackupReview.info/ — Today, BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, announces the appointment of Darrell Bailey as Senior Director of Sales, EMEA. As healthcare organisations increasingly regard data as one of their strategic assets and become less dependent on the applications that create it and the storage on which it resides, BridgeHead’s solutions offer customers a foundation for managing their healthcare information for the long term.

BridgeHead’s Independent Clinical Archive (ICA), HealthStore®, enables organisations to realise the vision of a single patient record by consolidating, storing and protecting clinical and administrative information that exists outside of their EPR within a central repository, then providing access to that information to those that need it, when they need it, at the point of care. This could be medical images that are scattered across hospital departments (from radiology, cardiology, dermatology, A&E, etc.) through to healthcare information, such as clinical reports, financial data, and even employee information that maybe stored in older systems running within a hospital. BridgeHead’s RAPid™ Data Protection solution offers an alternative to traditional backup methods, helping healthcare organisations optimise data protection and recovery for any application.

Commenting on his appointment, Darrell Bailey said: “The healthcare data management landscape is rapidly evolving, with an increased need for interoperability and the regional sharing of vital patient information to meet the demands of a modern healthcare service. Data sits at the heart of this move, and is the real strategic asset of all healthcare providers. That’s why HealthStore® is such a game-changer – it enables clinicians and support staff to see a 360-degree patient view, at the point of care. I’m excited to be joining BridgeHead at this point in the company’s development to support its ambitious growth plans. Equipped with an understanding of the market and future industry challenges, I’m looking forward to helping healthcare providers ensure the best solutions are in place so that patients are benefitting from the nirvana of integrated, patient-centric care.”

Bailey comes with an extensive understanding of healthcare IT services with 15 years’ experience in the industry. He joins from GE Healthcare, where he worked as the Sales Manager in the digital sector. Prior to this he held various senior commercial roles within Atos, Sensely, Carestream and Sectra, where his responsibilities included new business development, team expansion and management of the sales pipeline.

“We are delighted that Darrell has joined the BridgeHead team. He brings with him considerable understanding of the market, a proven track record and a drive to deliver value to our customers,” said Jim Beagle, President and Chief Executive Officer at BridgeHead Software. Increasingly healthcare organisations are seeing the need to centralise clinical information to deliver on the transformational strategies taking place across health services globally. Delivering patient-centric care requires that all staff have access to the vital patient information they need, at the point of care, to support clinical decisions.

“The independent clinical archive sits at the centre of this approach. As such, we are seeing a heightening demand for HealthStore® and RAPid™; and Darrell’s appointment serves as a lynchpin to the further expansion of our team. Not only is he passionate about the industry, but he’s also committed to ensuring healthcare providers have the technology at their disposal to deliver better patient outcomes. This, combined with his knowledge and consultative approach means he will play an important part in BridgeHead’s growth and future success.”

Annual Awards Program Recognizes Outstanding Digital Health & Medical Technology Products and Companies

ASHTEAD, UK – June 4, 2019 — /BackupReview.info/ — BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, today announced that MedTech Breakthrough, an independent organization that recognizes the top companies and solutions in the global health and medical technology market, has selected BridgeHead’s Independent Clinical Archive, HealthStore™, as the winner of its “Best Healthcare Data Repository Solution” award in the 2019 MedTech Breakthrough Awards program.

BridgeHead HealthStore™ is a single, enterprise-wide, cross-department repository designed to consolidate, store, protect and share all healthcare data. HealthStore assists healthcare organizations to break down data silos created by closed applications and hardware by extracting the patient and administrative (e.g. financial, legal, operational, etc.) data from these systems, ingesting and indexing that information into HealthStore (where it is safeguarded and protected), and then making that data available to users as part of a 360-degree patient view. As HealthStore is built on and supports open healthcare data standards, it works with any of a healthcare organization’s chosen applications, including clinical portals, PACS, diagnostic viewers and the Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR) for easy sharing. It also provides all the user tools to search for and access content. HealthStore can also be deployed within a hospital, across health systems, and/or used in regional and inter-hospital sharing initiatives.

“While healthcare data is ushering a new era of powerful digital health tools that promise to significantly improve clinical and healthcare system efficiency, along with that data comes a new set of complex issues for healthcare organizations,” said James Johnson, managing director, MedTech Breakthrough. “From security vulnerabilities and loopholes, to regulatory and compliance mandates, healthcare organizations are facing a mountain of data challenges. BridgeHead is tackling these issues head-on with “breakthrough” healthcare data solutions that help companies navigate this new world safely and securely. We extend our congratulations to the entire BridgeHead team on their well-deserved industry recognition with this 2019 MedTech Breakthrough Award.”

The mission of the MedTech Breakthrough Awards is to honor excellence and recognize the innovation, hard work and success in a range of health and medical technology categories, including Robotics, Clinical Administration, Telehealth, Patient Engagement, Electronic Health Records (EHR), mHealth, Medical Devices, Medical Data and many more. This year’s program attracted more than 3,500 nominations from over 15 different countries throughout the world.

“We’re delighted to be the recipient of the ‘Best Healthcare Data Repository Solution’ award for a second time,” said Jim Beagle, President and CEO at BridgeHead Software. “BridgeHead has long-held the belief that data is the lifeblood of any healthcare organization. Access to that data is vital for the smooth running of hospital operations and the efficient and effective delivery of patient care. It’s fantastic that HealthStore is once again acknowledged as a ‘best in class’ healthcare data repository. HealthStore, essentially, is the foundation for all healthcare related data. By integrating HealthStore with a hospital’s primary EHR, clinicians and support staff can access a 360-degree patient record, all from one system, optimizing workflow and providing the broadest context by which more accurate clinical decisions can be made.”

One of HealthStore’s capabilities is to empower health systems to take control of the data from their legacy, newly replaced or newly acquired applications. With the recent trend for US hospitals to acquire new facilities, such as ambulatory practices (along with their respective Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems), HealthStore enables the acquiring organization to extract and migrate the data from the outgoing or duplicate systems, then store and protect that information in HealthStore, where it can be retrieved as part of the patient record through the primary EHR. A recent example of this is the project successfully completed for Harrison Memorial Hospital, where BridgeHead extracted data from six independent ambulatory electronic medical record (EMR) systems, ingested it into HealthStore, and then made that data available to HMH’s enterprise EHR to provide a centralized, complete patient record. As a result, HMH is now able to decommission the six EMRs from operation, saving cost in licensing and support; reducing IT resource to provision and maintain those systems; and dramatically decreasing security threats.

New offering combines licensing and services for an easy, cost-effective upgrade

NASHVILLE, TN – 2015 International MUSE Conference – May 27, 2015 — /BackupReview.info/ — BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, today announced the VNA Upgrade Campaign, a new program that allows hospitals to leverage their existing investment in BridgeHead Software to quickly and cost effectively upgrade to HealthStore™, a next generation VNA solution. With HealthStore, BridgeHead’s MEDITECH customers can quickly realize full VNA functionality and begin the path to broader scale interoperability.

Combining both licensing and services in a single package, the BridgeHead program makes it easy and affordable for hospitals to upgrade their existing MEDITECH SCA or MEDITECH ISB/IDR environments to the latest version of HealthStore. As a result, hospitals can:

· Establish a data repository that simplifies MEDITECH’s access for things like images and other clinical content, all via standards such as XDS and HL7;

· Expand the protection of data beyond the MEDITECH system to other healthcare data types;

· Publish their own data for independent access by other applications;

· Achieve a more complete Electronic Health Record;

· Collaborate with others by providing data interoperability across a healthcare enterprise.

“Our customers want to bring images into view through the EMR and, today, that can be a challenge for a number of reasons, not least of which is keeping track of multiple PACS systems and clinical application refreshes,” said Mike Ball, senior vice president, BridgeHead Software. “HealthStore provides a single point of integration for the MEDITECH EMR and brings not only the PACS images into view but data from multiple other applications across the Enterprise.”

The first truly independent clinical archive, BridgeHead HealthStore offers a single, easily-accessible and standards-based software repository for all healthcare data. It enables hospitals to standardize access to key elements of the patient record while simultaneously freeing them from dependence on any single system to locate the information. BridgeHead’s HealthStore manages the information lifecycle of data across the entire healthcare enterprise, both clinical and non-clinical – whether within a hospital, medical facility or across organizations.

BridgeHead’s global partnership with Eclipse Clinical Technology brings together complementary solutions and services for the integration of healthcare data with the leading systems within clinical trial software

Woburn, MA and Leatherhead, UK – 16 November 2021 — /BackupReview.info/ — BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, today announced a strategic partnership with Eclipse Clinical Technology, a leader in clinical trial software integration and automation. Together, the two companies are able to further extend their reach within the life sciences market by offering complementary solutions and services that help Pharmaceutical, Device and Diagnostic companies to extract and consolidate data across their clinical trial sites and leverage that information to improve clinical trial efficiencies, bringing new products to market, faster.

As the number of clinical trials continues to grow globally, sponsor companies face increased competition to recruit patients for their studies while losing precious cycles screening patients that don’t match the profile. In addition, hospitals struggle to provide the data within the timescales required by the sponsor companies. BridgeHead and Eclipse bridge the gap between healthcare and life sciences markets by delivering the unstructured data of healthcare in the structured format life sciences demands.

BridgeHead’s HealthStore® solution enables organizations to consolidate, store, protect, and provide access to all healthcare data for a patient, including information within the Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR) as well as data that does not typically reside in the EHR used for clinical and operational needs. This includes medical images that are scattered throughout the enterprise (such as those found in radiology, cardiology, dermatology, wound care, etc.) or healthcare information, such as clinical reports and financial data that may be stored in older systems running within a hospital.

HealthStore provides an enterprise-class, secure, standards-based, central repository for this data, available to those that need it, when they need it, whether accessed directly or through a hospital’s primary system (such as an EHR, PACS, clinical portal, etc.).

Eclipse Clinical Technology offers cutting-edge integration, workflow automation, data transformation and exchange between healthcare systems and leading Electronic Data Capture (EDC) and Safety systems. Eclipse’s strength in clinical research and clinical data has allowed the company to develop a range of best-in-class solutions that systematize and automate data movement and migration, whilst still maintaining the integrity of the information (whether patient identities or demographic data), regardless of the complexity of the originating system(s).

Together BridgeHead and Eclipse help life sciences companies generate data driven study planning, accelerate patient recruitment, shorten the data collection process, and populate synthetic controls for comparator studies.

Mike Ball, Chief Business Development Officer at BridgeHead Software, explains: “We’re delighted to partner with Eclipse Clinical Technology. It’s a fantastic match. When a sponsor organization needs to aggregate data from across their sites, whether they be hospitals or a group of facilities, BridgeHead is able to immediately ingest and index that information into the HealthStore repository, where it is stored, protected, and made available to Eclipse, ‘in patient context.’ Eclipse is then able to add structure and make it available to the sponsor organizations through the systems they are already using. The combined offering delivers a true 360-degree patient view that will improve data quality, clinical outcomes, decrease trial cost, and reduce project risk while improving operational efficiencies.”

Leslie Bihari, Jr., President & CEO of Eclipse Clinical Technology, commented: “Our relationship with BridgeHead has given us the opportunity to bridge a gap long in the making. BridgeHead has provided a solution that enables the transfer of information across the disparate systems of healthcare so that we, in life sciences research, can add structure to that information so that it is suitable for integration with the systems used in clinical trials. This is a truly exciting partnership with endless opportunities to improve both sponsor companies’ access to the information and healthcare organizations’ access to clinical trials.”

Chris O’Brien Lifehouse becomes the first hospital in the world to implement BridgeHead’s RAPid™ Data Protection solution running in the AWS Public Cloud

ASHTEAD, UK – June 14, 2021 — /BackupReview.info/ — BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, today announces that it has successfully deployed its RAPid™ Data Protection solution at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse cancer hospital in Sydney, Australia. A world first, BridgeHead’s RAPid Data Protection product has been implemented within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Public Cloud to offer a backup and recovery solution for Chris O’Brien Lifehouse’s newly deployed MEDITECH Expanse electronic healthcare record (EHR), also believed to be the first of its kind to run in the AWS Cloud.

Chris O’Brien Lifehouse – Culture Of Innovation And ‘Cloud First’ Strategy
Chris O’Brien Lifehouse is a not-for-profit, comprehensive cancer hospital in Camperdown, Sydney. The hospital, which serves the wider New South Wales population, has fostered a culture of innovation since its inception in 2013, in its bid to offer patient-centred, multi-disciplinary and holistic cancer care for both public and private patients.

The project with BridgeHead was borne out of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse’s digital transformation program, where it has enacted a ‘Cloud First’ policy. The hospital has increasingly moved more of its technology to the Cloud in order to enjoy the flexibility and scalability that the Cloud delivers, e.g. the speed and ease by which it can upgrade or downgrade all manner of technical services on-demand. Chris O’Brien Lifehouse also firmly believes its real estate is best used for its patients as opposed to taking up valuable space on computer rooms filled with hardware, which then have to be maintained and supported.

As part of its vision and drive for innovation, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse selected MEDITECH Expanse as its EHR solution, but with one significant provision – that it be fully enabled to run on the AWS Public Cloud (believed to be the first of its kind anywhere in the world). Furthermore, another key objective for Chris O’Brien Lifehouse was the ability to not only fully back up and recover the MEDITECH Expanse application on AWS, but that the data protection solution would need to do this efficiently and effectively while also running in the AWS Cloud, also believed to be a world first.

As Peter Singer, Director of Information Technology at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse explains, “We had a very clear vision of what we wanted. Our digital transformation journey to the Public Cloud is not a ‘nice to have’, it’s an imperative. The real question was: could BridgeHead rise to the challenge we’d laid out?”

BridgeHead Sets Its Sights On Protecting MEDITECH In The AWS Public Cloud
BridgeHead’s RAPid Data Protection product continues to maintain its position as the market leading backup and recovery solution for MEDITECH environments, supported by a team of industry experts with extensive knowledge and experience stemming from the company’s long-standing relationship with MEDITECH, now spanning over 20 years. However, though BridgeHead comes with an established pedigree this, in isolation, would not be enough to satisfy the requirements of the project. What was needed was a commitment to build and deploy a data protection solution that could work in unison with Chris O’Brien Lifehouse’s instance of MEDITECH Expanse, with both hosted, highly available, and running in the AWS Public Cloud.

The comprehensive cancer hospital initially engaged with BridgeHead 2 years ago at the MEDITECH Physicians and CIO Forum in Boston, USA. After many talks, BridgeHead was eventually selected by the hospital as the vendor of choice due to its willingness to collaborate and adapt the RAPid Data Protection solution to work efficiently in the AWS Cloud.

As Gareth Griffiths, Executive Director and RAPid Product Manager explained, “We have a history of leading the way when it comes to safeguarding MEDITECH systems. We have consistently been the first vendor to offer support for new MEDITECH certified SAN arrays. Clearly, we relish a challenge; and the project with Chris O’Brien Lifehouse was certainly going to be one! The key to success was not simply to provide a backup and recovery solution that could run on AWS… that is a given. The real mission was to do that without degradation in system performance and whilst remaining cost effective. This was not a trivial task – not solely due to the technical complexity, but because it had never been done before. Together, with the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse team, we needed to pioneer a new solution that could deliver on their vision.”

Over the life of the project, the BridgeHead team was able to iterate and adapt its RAPid solution to perform consistent backups, in a timely manner, across the MEDITECH Server estate hosted in the AWS Cloud. To do so, BridgeHead had to leverage the available Cloud technology, utilise the appropriate deduplication methods, and all within a clustered environment so as to eliminate the need for downtime or restarting systems.

As the number of backups built up, the team quickly realised that the Cloud Storage costs were also on the rise which is when a deduplication solution was recommended. The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse team identified QoreStor from Quest as their preferred solution – an organization BridgeHead already had a long relationship with. Working together the teams soon demonstrated how a de-duplication appliance in the cloud significantly reduces the Cloud Storage costs for backups while maintaining a fast restore capability.

Mr Singer comments, “We all worked really well together as a project team. Once our MEDITECH Expanse solution went live in November 2020, we needed to assess whether BridgeHead’s RAPid™ was working optimally in the AWS Cloud to ensure we were efficiently backing up our EHR data. We have since undertaken extensive testing to check this is the case. Most importantly, we recently carried out a full MEDITECH restore using RAPid and it passed with flying colours. One always hopes you are never placed in a position where you have to restore a critical healthcare system. But, at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, we are now safe in the knowledge that, should we need to, we can quickly restore our MEDITECH Expanse system thanks to BridgeHead. Having that peace of mind more than pays for the investment. I’d like to thank everyone at BridgeHead, MEDITECH and Chris O’Brien Lifehouse who contributed to this significant project.”

BridgeHead’s RAPid – A Blueprint For Protecting MEDITECH In The Cloud
By committing to this project, and the subsequent investment by BridgeHead in the development of RAPid, the company has clearly identified and understood the increasing trend by hospitals to move towards the Cloud. In doing so, BridgeHead has not only developed a new solution that can protect Cloud-hosted MEDITECH Expanse systems running on AWS, but it now plans to use the techniques it has learned to do the same for other Public Cloud environments, such as Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure as well as Private Cloud.

Mr Singer adds, “At Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, we do march to the beat of our own drum. Innovation is really important to us and a key ingredient to our success and also essential in our technology partnerships. I believe we are the first hospital to go live with MEDITECH Expanse in an AWS environment worldwide. Furthermore, we are also the first healthcare organisation to deploy BridgeHead’s RAPid™ for MEDITECH on AWS. So, this project has delivered many ‘firsts’. Not only is RAPid now working very well for Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, I do believe it will be really beneficial for other customers who need to protect MEDITECH Expanse in a Cloud environment.”

Jim Beagle, President and CEO, BridgeHead Software, “This project really has been a collaboration in the truest sense. Chris O’Brien Lifehouse had a vision for what it wanted to achieve by deploying MEDITECH Expanse in the AWS Cloud; and we’re delighted they chose BridgeHead’s RAPid™ Data Protection as part of that solution. As this was new territory for both organisations, we’ve worked very closely together to ensure the solution fully delivers against that vision. I really am very proud of our collective achievements in this project.”

Commenting on the appointments, President and Chief Executive Officer of BridgeHead Software, Jim Beagle said: “We are delighted to welcome all of these talented individuals to the BridgeHead team. Clearly, the global pandemic has been a tumultuous time for our global customers, so inevitably some non-urgent projects have been delayed as care providers rightly focused on their rapid response to Covid-19. However, we are now starting to see many of these projects coming back on line, as well as the emergence of new initiatives –particularly on how our HealthStore® solution can help in collecting and centralising data for Covid-19.”

Beagle continues: “Prior to the coronavirus outbreak, our strategy was always to further invest in our team. BridgeHead’s global partnership with Summit Healthcare brings together complementary solutions and services for the migration, consolidation, access and interoperability of healthcare data

WOBURN, MA – 17 March 2020 — /BackupReview.info/ — BridgeHead Software, the leader in healthcare data management, today announced a strategic partnership with Summit Healthcare, a leader in healthcare system integration and automation. Together, the two companies are able to further extend their reach within the healthcare market by offering complementary solutions and services that help IDNs, health systems and independent hospitals to extract and consolidate data across their organizations and exploit that information to improve clinical, operational and financial efficiencies.

As the global healthcare industry continues its drive towards digital transformation, hospitals are increasingly looking to leverage patient, administrative and financial data to enhance operations and to deliver high quality care. Both BridgeHead and Summit Healthcare operate exclusively in the healthcare market; and both focus on data, though from different perspectives.

BridgeHead’s HealthStore® solution enables organizations to consolidate, store, protect, and provide access to all healthcare data that does not typically reside in the Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR) for clinical and operational needs. This includes medical images that are scattered throughout the enterprise (from radiology, cardiology, dermatology, wound care, the ER, etc.) or healthcare information, such as clinical reports, financial data, and even employee information; that may be stored in older systems running within a hospital.

HealthStore provides an enterprise-class, secure, standards-based, central repository for this data, available to those that need it, when they need it, whether accessed directly or through a hospital’s primary system (such as an EHR, PACS, clinical portal, etc.).

Summit Healthcare offers cutting-edge integration, data exchange, workflow automation, and business continuity solutions. Summit Healthcare’s strength in healthcare and healthcare data has allowed the company to develop a range of best-of-breed products and services that systematize and automate data movement and migration, whilst still maintaining the integrity of the information (whether patient identities or demographic data), regardless of the complexity of the originating system(s).

Summit Healthcare’s Robotic Process Automation (RPA) not only improves business processes, operational efficiencies, expenses, and productivity, but it does it in a fraction of the time it would take staff and mitigates human error, freeing staff for more cognitive work efforts.

Mike Ball, Chief Business Development Officer at BridgeHead Software, explains: “We’re delighted to partner with Summit Healthcare. It’s a perfect match. When a healthcare organization needs to aggregate data from across a hospital or group of facilities, Summit Healthcare is able to offer comprehensive data automation to quickly and accurately extract that information. BridgeHead immediately ingests and indexes that information into the HealthStore repository, where it is stored, protected and made available to users either through their EHR system, ‘in patient context’, or directly through an intuitive web portal.

The combined offering delivers a true 360-degree patient view that will improve patient outcomes, decrease treatment cost, reduce risk and improve operational efficiencies.”

Jim McKinnon, President at Summit Healthcare, commented: “Our relationship with BridgeHead has developed out of mutual respect: respect for each other’s healthcare experience and expertise; respect for each other’s leading-edge technology; and, most importantly, the respect that has developed between our staff. As a result, those who will derive the most benefit from this partnership are our customers. Summit Healthcare and BridgeHead not only understand the benefits that our joint offering can provide to healthcare organizations, but we are single-minded in our goal to deliver value for the betterment of patient care and improving the efficiency of hospital operations.”

WOBURN, MA & ASHTEAD, UK – September 24th 2015 – BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, today announced a partnership with Oblak, the specialist cloud and IT services provider and EMC, the data storage specialist. Together the three companies will offer hospitals in Bulgaria and, in the near term, the rest of the Balkans, an alternative option to expensive PACS storage upgrades by assisting with the long-term storage, protection and sharing of radiology images – all in the cloud.

Built on EMC’s Isilon storage platform, Oblak will now provide BridgeHead’s HealthStore™, the first truly Independent Clinical Archive (ICA) – also referred to as a next generation vendor neutral archive (VNA) – to the Bulgarian healthcare market. BridgeHead’s HealthStore offers a single software environment where hospitals can store and protect all of their radiology images as well as other clinical and non-clinical data from across the healthcare enterprise and make it available, through sharing, to those that need it, when they need it, at the point of care.

“EMC and BridgeHead Software are already working together in a number of key healthcare accounts in EMEA,” said Wolfgang Mertz, CTO Office, EMC Isilon. “Our partnership has again proven successful in the form of our joint solution with Bulgarian company Oblak. This configuration of EMC’s advanced storage platform, Isilon, together with BridgeHead’s leading independent clinical archive, HealthStore™, and the extensive cloud hosting and services offered by Oblak, is set to offer a total data management solution across the Bulgarian healthcare market and that of its neighbouring countries.”

“In Bulgaria, one of the biggest expenditures for a hospital is upgrading the PACS system; procurement cycles are arduous and time consuming,” said Dimo Simeonov, Chief Executive Officer at Oblak. “By transferring the data into BridgeHead’s HealthStore, rather than upgrading the storage capacity of the PACS system, a hospital no longer needs to undertake lengthy procurement processes as the cost of the VNA is significantly under the threshold. Therefore, this cloud alternative offers significant financial benefits and also saves precious time for the hospital, which in turn improves patient care. For example, the radiology department no longer needs to train its staff on how to use and maintain the system, it is now fully hosted and managed on their behalf so more attention is put back into frontline services.”

“We are delighted to partner with Oblak and EMC in Bulgaria, as this is an exciting and important new geographic opportunity for us,” said Andrew Carr, Director of Alliances – EMEA at BridgeHead Software. “Hospitals realise that it is too costly to keep pushing the storage limits of their PACS system, and it is no longer viable, or indeed necessary, to store their data on expensive primary storage. Utilising BridgeHead’s VNA in the Oblak cloud environment, the hospital can store any data – from medical images and clinical reports through to scanned patient records – and have it instantly available at the time of need.”

Report finds the VNA is a critical component of the real-time healthcare system (RTHS)

WOBURN, MA & ASHTEAD, UK – September 1st, 2015 — /BackupReview.info/ — BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, today announced that it has been cited as a representative vendor in the “Gartner Market Guide for Vendor-Neutral Archives” by analyst Barry Runyon. The guide is written to help healthcare delivery organization (HDO) CIOs and medical imaging leaders better understand the Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) market, its future and its notable vendors.

From Gartner’s perspective, the report states[1], “a VNA is an enterprise wide repository of patient-centric medical images and associated content. Vendor neutrality is achieved by interfacing with all major PACS vendors and by accommodating proprietary PACS and healthcare delivery organization (HDO) requirements for medical image storage, retrieval and viewing. The VNA value proposition centers on promoting medical imaging standards, increasing the control and ownership the HDO has over its medical images and associated data, mitigating data migration complexity, and decreasing its dependence on individual PACS vendors.”

“We believe it is an honor for BridgeHead Software to be included as one of the vendors in the Gartner ‘Market Guide for Vendor-Neutral Archives’,” said Tony Cotterill, chief products officer, BridgeHead Software. “As a health data management company, BridgeHead Software welcomes Gartner’s finding that the VNA is a critical component of the real-time healthcare system (RTHS).’ But, what is really interesting, is that the market is now acknowledging that the scope of a VNA now extends beyond the management of medical images alone. This is a welcomed opinion; it’s clear to us at BridgeHead that organizations absolutely see the benefit of leveraging their VNA environments to manage patient data from across the healthcare enterprise.”

In the last 18 months BridgeHead has successfully deployed its next generation VNA, HealthStoreTM, in more NHS Trusts than any other independent VNA vendor.

In August, BridgeHead announced North Middlesex University NHS Trust had selected HealthStoreTM, for the storage, protection and sharing of radiology images. Additionally, the Trust will be using HealthStore alongside its new Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) to build an enterprise-wide data repository to help ensure that patient information is available at the point of care delivery.

North Middlesex University NHS Trust follows on from successful next generation VNA deployments at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust; Homerton University Hospital Trust and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

ASHTEAD, UK – August 25 2015 — /BackupReview.info/ — North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust has selected BridgeHead Software’s Independent Clinical Archive, HealthStore™, also referred to as a next generation Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA), to assist it in the long-term storage, protection and sharing of radiology images following its exit from the National Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) contracts. The hospital also intends to use HealthStore™ alongside its new Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) to build an enterprise-wide data repository to help meet its obligations under the Government’s Better Care Fund plan and health secretary Jeremy Hunt MP’s vision of a paperless NHS.

The north London hospital’s Local Service Provider (LSP) contract for PACS was due to end in June 2015. In 2012, it began procurement for a new PACS, Radiology Information System (RIS) and an independent VNA through the NHS Supply Chain. Following a shortlisting to six providers, the hospital selected BridgeHead’s next generation VNA, HealthStore™. The contract was awarded in September 2014.

Soon after the award for BridgeHead’s HealthStore, the hospital decided to expand the use of the VNA to act as the repository for its ambitious EDMS project, which will scan all patient notes and provide electronic access for clinicians. The trust’s own internally developed clinical portal will also interface into the VNA, providing mobile and fixed access to patient notes at the point of need.

Eddie Webb, North Middlesex University Hospital’s head of IT, comments: “Initially, we just wanted a VNA for PACS; but the hospital was going through a transformation programme looking at how we use data and who requires access to that data. The ending of our PACS LSP presented us with an opportunity to rethink our data management strategy; and consider a VNA independent from PACS and RIS that was truly application agnostic and could scale across the hospital to manage all data types, not just medical images. Now we have HealthStore™, in five years’ time, when we may look at PACS again, or any other application refresh, we will not be tied to any specific vendor – our data will be stored centrally and available to any application we choose and data migration will be significantly easier.”

Peter Hales, the hospital’s RIS and PACS manager, comments: “The ability that HealthStore™ brings to manage radiology data, as well as other relevant information across all platforms, will benefit clinicians and patients alike. Previously, patient data was stored locally to departmental machines all requiring different passwords to allow access. Now, with the correct identity policies in place, clinicians can recall all information pertinent to the patient. It is much faster and, therefore, provides greater efficiency and better levels of patient care.”

To deliver Hunt’s mandated digital vision and also deliver the Better Care Fund plan, the hospital wanted to consider data holistically across the organisation. It began looking at how to build an ecosystem whereby all of its different stakeholders – including GPs in the longer term – could access the data they needed to achieve better quality care and enhance the patient experience.

Musadiq Subar, the hospital’s IT programme manager and clinical technical architect, comments: “Our VNA approach has the capability to push data from source to the applications and/or individuals that need it, when they need it.”

Jeremy Hunt has mandated that hospitals are digital by 2018; at North Mid we aim to achieve this earlier in 2016/17 using our electronic document management system. For us, it makes absolute sense to use our VNA alongside our EDMS. I have no doubts about the suitability or robustness of the system. BridgeHead has excellent clinical and healthcare experience and demonstrated the applicability of their next generation VNA, HealthStore™, to this.”

“For applications like EDMS that include patient history, notes, diagnostics and more it is paramount that patient information is available at all times.”

The hospital is now actively working with third party care, primary care and secondary care providers and mental health agencies to understand what data they need and how they can access it.

Musadiq continues: “The healthcare space is very dynamic; the integration of health and social care, the roles of clinical commissioning groups and third party care providers in the community is evolving. Data needs to be at the centre of our care continuum and our VNA approach to data management ensures that information about patients is available no matter where in the hospital the care is provided.”

Jim Beagle, CEO of BridgeHead Software comments: “The North Middlesex University Hospital team involved in this project are true visionaries; they should be commended on having the confidence to take a long-term and strategic approach to their data management.

“We have long championed VNA as the enterprise-wide repository that can be deployed in an evolutionary manner starting with one department like radiology and rapidly extending to all types of data and applications – as with the hospital’s EDMS initiative.

“This is an exciting project for BridgeHead and we are working with some very talented people. I look forward to seeing it continue to evolve and expand.”

The VNA is being delivered as part of a five year managed service; the key drivers being that the VNA is a new technology to the trust and they wanted to ensure that the IT team could focus on strategic delivery and not solely on system management.

North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is the latest hospital to select BridgeHead’s Independent Clinical Archive (ICA), HealthStore, for a strategic data transformation project. It builds on a successful 18 months for BridgeHead that has also seen fully live HealthStore deployments at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. To date, it is the only vendor neutral archive (VNA) provider that has publicly announced multiple successful deployments across the NHS.

Adds ability to manage unstructured content as well as Web Access and Directory capabilities to HealthStore ICA

WOBURN, MA and ASHTEAD, UK – January 20, 2015 — /BackupReview.info/ — BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, today announced the latest version of the BridgeHead Healthcare Data Management (HDM) Platform with the ability to manage unstructured content as well as key updates to the BridgeHead HealthStore™ Independent Clinical Archive (ICA). The new technical enhancements enable the BridgeHead HDM platform to create a standard view of all data, regardless of its origin and type, while at the same time make it easier to use.

Now standardized on XDS technology, the BridgeHead HDM platform introduces two new components to the BridgeHead HealthStore Independent Clinical Archive (ICA):

  • HealthStore Web Access (HWA) — a web based search portal that securely allows access to all content and content types managed by HealthStore;
  • HealthStore Directory — a central registry of the metadata pertaining to the content stored in the archive, which provides rapid search and access to all content in the archive.

Managing Unstructured Content
Bridgehead has always had a strong data policy management engine that manages content and metadata separately, but the BridgeHead HealthStore Solution has formalized this functionality to meet Open Standards, most notably XDS. This allows a consistent way of describing data, across all data types to help power the patient-centric view.

With XDS at its core, BridgeHead HealthStore can ingest content in any format: DICOM, HL7 documents, native XDS documents and even unstructured content. All content is registered in the central Directory, which can be searched via single interface, greatly simplifying access to disparate content types. Moreover, because the BridgeHead HDM can now ingest items from a file system and at the same time query the environment to obtain metadata about the ingested item (e.g. patient ID), HealthStore can ingest items from file-based repositories in a consistent manner, and dramatically improve the speed and accuracy of content access.

Automated Deployment and Support for Multiple Environments
The BridgeHead HDM platform also has been enhanced by adding an intelligent installation and configuration graphical user interface, which automatically discovers and presents a user’s full IT server environment to enable a simple point-and-click server configuration for the HT Backup environment. HT Backup subsequently deploys all required software components and alerts the user when completed. As a result, software upgrades are much easier to deploy.

Finally, the BridgeHead HDM offers external support and new functionality for the following systems:

  • Extending MEDITECH Backup Facility (MBF) for Recover Point ISB/IDR,
  • MEDITECH View Only EMR,
  • EMC ATMOS Cloud Interface,
  • DELL Rapid Data Access.

“With the latest version of the BridgeHead HDM platform, BridgeHead continues to build on its vision for the HealthStore Independent Clinical Archive by simplifying the integration of all hospital data into an easily-accessed, standards-based data store,” said Tony Cotterill, Chief Product Officer at BridgeHead Software.  “In addition, BridgeHead is adding new functionality to its core platform that makes it easier for hospitals to view, search and drive more value out of their archive data than ever before.”

Consolidates all hospital data in single, easily-accessible, standards-based repository; ideal for organizations seeking to improve EPR or implement a portal

WOBURN, MA and ASHTEAD, UK – October 29, 2014 — /BackupReview.info/ — BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, today announced BridgeHead HealthStore™, the first Independent Clinical Archive (ICA) for long-term storage, protection and sharing of hospital data. A modular solution built on top of the BridgeHead Healthcare Data Management (HDM) platform, BridgeHead HealthStore enables hospitals to standardize access to key elements of the patient record while simultaneously freeing them from dependence on any single system to locate the information.

Consolidating many of BridgeHead’s existing capabilities behind a single management console, BridgeHead HealthStore offers standards-based integration with any clinical data source (HL7, unstructured files, DICOM and XDS).  It is both application and storage independent and maintains its own meta-data to ensure content is accessible and clinically useful into the future.

With BridgeHead HealthStore, two things are achieved. Firstly, content can be transparently accessed by the originating application but is now prepared for secondary use by future applications, for example health analytics. Secondly, the data in HealthStore is held independent of the storage. This means hospitals can move to a new application without affecting their storage, or move to new storage without impacting their applications. Ideally suited to manage both new data as well as bulk import of historic data, BridgeHead HealthStore comes with BridgeHead’s full suite of implementation, integration and migration services.

BridgeHead HealthStore brings the following benefits to healthcare data management:

  • Enables faster clinical decisions and a more complete EPR with more efficient access to all types of data, which improves EPR or portal implementation;
  • Simplifies data quality management, especially for data that is unlikely to change again;
  • Allows access to patient data even if one or several primary applications are unavailable;
  • Frees departmental applications (e.g. PACS) to concentrate their main activity — managing the department — not on being a data-warehouse;
  • Streamlines non-clinical access to data (e.g. research) without impacting primary data repositories (e.g. PACS);
  • Future proofs data access via standards-based architecture for easy connection to other systems in the future, especially those systems wishing to recall data from HealthStore;
  • Removes constant migration headaches as new applications only need a meta data update, not the movement of the physical items;
  • Provides a framework to home and secure content from applications that are being retired or taken permanently offline;
  • Fully audited.

The healthcare market is acknowledging that the Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) is no longer sufficient. What’s needed is an ICA with the broader abilities to consolidate access to and management of all of a hospital’s data. “BridgeHead’s data management pedigree makes it eminently qualified to author a complete healthcare facing archive,” said Tony Cotterill, Chief Product Officer at BridgeHead Software.  “For the past five years, BridgeHead has developed APIs for all healthcare-specific data ingestion methods. Now BridgeHead HealthStore brings together our traditional DICOMStore, FileStore and XDS capabilities into the industry’s first true ICA.”

“With BridgeHead HealthStore functioning as a hospital’s ICA, MEDITECH foresees the possibility to publish its own data for independent access by other applications as well as a repository, which will simplify MEDITECH’s access for things like images and other clinical content, all via standards such as XDS,” said John Valutkevich, Manager of Interoperability Initiatives, MEDITECH.  “Initiatives like this all help MEDITECH present the Electronic Health Record more efficiently for our customers running specialty applications in the community and that is why we value the BridgeHead relationship.”

Upgrade service helps ensure continuous data availability at Hilo Medical Center

DALLAS, TX – May 28, 2014 – MUSE User Conference 2014 — /BackupReview.info/ — BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, today announced BridgeHead Enablement Service for MEDITECH VOEMR, a unique methodology that helps hospitals to avoid disruption during a MEDITECH 6.x application upgrade. Through this service, hospitals working with BridgeHead Healthcare Data Management solutions are enabled to work with MEDITECH VOEMR to assist in their upgrade process.

BridgeHead collaborated with MEDITECH as they developed the View-Only EMR (VOEMR) capability, and is unique in being able to provide this enablement service. BridgeHead’s expert services team is available to assist hospitals in their use of BridgeHead’s software to create the read-only database used during MEDITECH upgrades and thereby continue hospital services throughout the process. MEDITECH encourages hospitals to update their systems with each product release in order to prevent variations between its releases.

Hilo Medical Center in Hilo, HI, recently worked with the new BridgeHead Enablement Service for MEDITECH VOEMR to facilitate a MEDITECH software upgrade and anticipates using it on an on-going basis for the two to three VOEMR upgrades it performs every year.  Finding ways to avoid downtime is a priority for Hilo Medical Center, which depends on MEDITECH HCIS to serve 42,000 patients annually in its 24-hour care facility.

“We are interested in the BridgeHead Enablement Service for MEDITECH VOEMR because it helps to ensure continuous availability of information to our clinical practitioners so that the IT department has no impact on patient services,” said Money Atwal, CIO/CFO at Hilo Medical Center. “Overall, the BridgeHead services staff have been very knowledgeable and helpful in this process. We look forward to many more successful upgrades in the future, in coordination with both BridgeHead and MEDITECH.”

“As part of its ongoing commitment to MEDITECH, BridgeHead worked closely with them as they perfected the VOEMR approach and best practice. As a result BridgeHead’s ISB/IDR solution has now been upgraded to work in tandem with the MEDITECH application to facilitate these reduced impact EMR upgrades,” said Tony Cotterill, Chief Product Officer at BridgeHead Software. “BridgeHead has a long experience in working with hospitals to support them in creating copies of the EMR database for data protection. This was a logical extension to that service.”

Software deduplication for backup of hospital EMR and enterprise applications provide storage savings and increased RTO

WOBURN, MA – April 29, 2014 — /BackupReview.info/ — BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, today announced that Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, Ohio is expanding its BridgeHead environment with the addition of BridgeHead Deduplication for Backup and Recovery along with BridgeHead Enterprise Backup. BridgeHead Deduplication integrates HP StoreOnce Catalyst software as part of its Healthcare Data Management (HDM) platform. A BridgeHead customer since 2012, Mary Rutan hospital had previously deployed BridgeHead ISB/IDR to protect its MEDITECH data.

A 100-bed facility offering a range of services, Mary Rutan Hospital serves Logan County Ohio with a constant dedication to the mission of “Providing Progressive Quality Health Care With A Personal Touch.” In addition to its main location, Mary Rutan Hospital operates the Ewing H. Crawfis Imaging Center, the Mary Rutan Hospital Physical Rehabilitation Center, the Ewing Crawfis Oncology Clinic and several physician practices.

The hospital decided to add BridgeHead’s Deduplication and Enterprise Backup capabilities as part of a long-term cost savings strategy.

Over the next three to five years, Mary Rutan Hospital expects to achieve the following with its expanded BridgeHead HDM Solution:
· Cut long-term storage costs by 50 to 70 percent;
· Shrink backup storage by a factor of 10 to one;
· Streamline enterprise SQL, Exchange and VM backup into a single solution;
· Strategically position environment to incorporate secondary off-site storage; and
· Improve RTO for remote business continuance.

“We expect BridgeHead Deduplication to deliver huge long-term cost-savings advantages to our hospital,” said Robert Reynolds, IT director for Mary Rutan Hospital. “Using BridgeHead’s Virtual StoreOnce Appliance (VSA) implementation provides an extremely cost-effective solution as compared with VTL device alternatives, plus it lets us combine it with our existing storage without being locked in to a single storage vendor. We’d already had the goal of unifying our backup to include our enterprise applications along with MEDITECH; when we learned about the VSA approach then the cost-savings benefits were compounded. What we expect now, is that BridgeHead will help us to cut our long-term storage costs by 50 to 70 percent over the next three to five years.”

“Mary Rutan Hospital is a good example of the type of hospital that we had in mind when we introduced BridgeHead Deduplication in late 2013,” said Tony Cotterill, Executive Vice President and Chief Products Officer, BridgeHead Software. “They have received good benefit from BridgeHead for backup of MEDITECH data, and they were already interested in our enterprise capabilities as a way to consolidate their backup across the hospital and eliminate point-products. The additional benefit of our deduplication will enable that consolidated approach to accelerate cost savings and rapidly pay for itself.”

New DICOM Archive Browser and increased Cloud support enhance ability of administrators to access, store and manage hospital data

WOBURN, MA and ASHTEAD, UK – April 9, 2014 — /BackupReview.info/ — BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, today announced the latest release of its Healthcare Data Management (HDM) solution with a new DICOM Archive Browser (DAB) and increased Cloud support, most notably support for the open Cloud storage standard SWIFT. These updates help make the HDM solution with its unified platform a credible place to not only store the entire patient record but also now to access and manage it.

The DICOM Archive Browser (DAB) is an administrative tool that helps ensure the validity of the DICOM archive. It allows an administrator to search the archive by key metadata (e.g. patient ID, Instance UID) and also use BridgeHead’s XDS WADO interface to view any part of the series or study to ascertain that data is stored within the archive.

The DAB can be used to:

  • Send any study, series or image to any DICOM workstation allowing manual workflows to be constructed for ‘ologies where there is no automated PACS system;
  • Manage Information Object Change Management (IOCM) requests in the archive, allowing an administrator to see images “hidden” from general viewing.

“With its DICOM Archive Browser, BridgeHead has created an easy-to-use tool to aid administrators in managing DICOM images,” said Joe Marion, principal, Healthcare Integration Strategies LLC. “BridgeHead is unique to my knowledge in having worked to close this gap in the process, which is critical for supporting ‘ologies outside of radiology, such as oncology, with appropriate workflow. Indeed, I believe that administrators in radiology could also benefit from the added visibility and management control provided in the tool.”

Cloud Support – With added support for the OpenStack Cloud storage standard SWIFT, BridgeHead HDM provides both its partners and customers with a consistent interface to Cloud resources via the SWIFT open object storage system.

At the same time, BridgeHead also has added the ability to create offline copies of backups in the cloud by using de-duplication technologies, such as HP StoreOnce, to perform very efficient transfer to storage in the cloud while simultaneously creating an offline, most likely tape, copy of the backup, in the cloud. This gives an organization the efficiency of backup to cloud but at the same time gives them a tape copy of last resort, which is often critical to data protection strategy.

“The DAB is a good indication of how BridgeHead is making the content that it stores, protects and shares more accessible to the end-user, and how we can add more value to any Patient Records initiative, by making content available to users or applications in an ordered manner,” said Tony Cotterill, Chief Product Officer at BridgeHead Software. “This is a first step towards a more robust patient-centric offering which we plan to introduce later this year, enabling clinicians to view all types of data associated with a patient from a single well-organized view.”

Integrates backup and archive with single data repository to ensure optimized protection and recovery for all hospital data

ORLANDO, FL – February 24, 2014 — /BackupReview.info/ — HIMSS – BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, today announced BridgeHead RAPid™ (Rapid Application Protection), which facilitates the use of multiple protection strategies in a single seamless HDM solution to ensure optimized protection and recovery of hospital applications. BridgeHead RAPid integrates both backup and archive with a central repository for meta data, business and clinical data as well as healthcare-specific application awareness to ensure that hospitals can quickly bring back large amounts of data.

Leveraging Bridgehead BLAST (Backup Leveraging Advanced SAN Technology), BridgeHead RAPid enables hospitals to restore an application’s complete underlying database and then enough of its file data to quickly get the application back up and running. To streamline the data protection process, RAPid deploys both single instancing for archive on the file level and deduplications for backup on the block level.

BridgeHead RAPid promises to help hospitals:
• Optimize RPO and RTO for 99.9% of their applications and data,
• Reduce storage and network requirements with Single Instancing for reduction of application objects combined with deduplication for reduction of backup data,
• Provide a better platform for recovery, both in terms of speed, ease of use and reduced data loss.

“The BridgeHead RAPid approach combines the company’s deep knowledge of healthcare applications with a unified backup and archiving offering for data protection that is ideal for hospitals,” said Joe Martins, Data Mobility Group. “Because RAPid takes two angles on data reduction – Single Instancing with archive, and deduplication with backup — no matter what type of healthcare data is being managed, hospitals get an optimized data footprint which is faster, easier and less expensive to manage. Because of the unique approach of combining optimized protection, the BridgeHead RAPid approach can cover 99.9% of the types of data that a hospital has to manage.”

“Many INHS customers want to ensure that generational copies have a separate physical location in a non-risk area. The BridgeHead RAPid approach, with its dual data reduction technologies, eliminates the bottlenecks inherent in moving data to and from the Cloud,”said Chad Skidmore, director, INHS. “BridgeHead RAPid has enabled INHS to deliver healthcare-aware disaster recovery strategies for hospitals that combines existing storage resources with the vastly scalable and affordable Cloud.”

“Built on BridgeHead’s HDM Platform, Rapid Application Protection is an approach designed for hospitals to ensure optimized protection and recovery for any application,” said Tony Cotterill, Chief Product Officer at BridgeHead Software. “RAPid ensures customers get optimum protection of their data as it allows a mix of backup strategies unlike any other data protection solution.”

  • QoreStor 7.1 enables organizations to better protect against ransomware attacks to reduce risk to customers and business operations
  • This enhancement allows users to better leverage the cloud for backup, disaster recovery, and long-term retention
  • Allows MSPs to cut data protection storage requirements and costs for increased profitability

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Oct. 19, 2021 — /BackupReview.info/ — Quest Software, a global systems management, data protection, and security software provider, today announced the availability of Quest QoreStor v7.1 providing customers with enhanced ransomware prevention capabilities and cloud support. With these latest updates, QoreStor extends its cloud capabilities and significantly elevates organizations’ ability to provide robust backup storage where they need it most while adding technologies that provide data immutability and retrieval.

With its advanced deduplication, compression, and cloud-tiering capabilities, QoreStor unleashes secondary storage for a truly software-defined data center. With the agility that only software can provide, businesses can now run QoreStor anywhere they choose, leveraging cloud-native storage in new ways. QoreStor version 7.1 enhances those capabilities even further with its new data security features.

“We are committed to bringing best-in-class offerings to our customers and addressing their challenges head-on,” said Adrian Moir, Senior Consultant, Product Management & Lead Technology Evangelist, Quest Data Protection business. “Our award-winning QoreStor solution is now helping to solidify our customers’ backup solutions and significantly improving its ability to keep their data-optimized, secure and safe, reducing the cost of ownership and the cost of storage without compromising on features and functionality.”

As ransomware attacks continue to rise at a rapid pace, QoreStor 7.1 enables organizations to better protect against these threats to reduce risk to customers and business operations. According to a recent report on the state of ransomware, only 65% of encrypted data was restored — even after a ransom was paid — proving the importance of implementing a hardened backup solution to prevent data loss due to the inability to successfully recover. With QoreStor 7.1, users have added layers of protection with access to elevated features to prevent the intrusion of ransomware into backup data through its two levels of protection, rapid data access (RDA) immutability, and an immutable data recycle bin.

Among its key benefits, in addition to enhanced ransomware protection, QoreStor 7.1 also offers users:

  • Cloud Reader Mode: An alternate QoreStor instance that can be configured to read a QoreStor Cloud tier that is active, enabling users to test their cloud data as well as enabling MSPs’ flexibility in recovering and exporting customer data using a cloud construct.
  • QorePortal Integration: Integration with Quest’s QorePortal for SaaS based management of QoreStor instances from anywhere on anything. Ideal for large installations and MSPs, QorePortal comes with built in organizational structure and role based access.

Supporting Quotes:
“QoreStor’s capability in providing over a 90 percent deduplication rate in a Veeam environment is convincing,” said Martin Hörhammer, CEO at Medialine AG.

“Bridgehead Software’s RAPid™ Data Protection solution has helped many sites recover from ransomware. Consequently, any developments that make backups even more secure are always welcome,” said Gareth Griffiths, Product Manager at BridgeHead. “QoreStor, with its efficient Cloud Tier, ticks all the boxes for efficient offsite storage. Now, with immutability, QoreStor offers a further air-gap between the servers and the data for added protection – so even if the backup server is subverted the backups themselves cannot be deleted. BridgeHead’s RAPid, using the secure RDA protocol, can take full advantage of immutability, choosing different minimum retentions for each backup cycle. The combination of its secure encrypted data ‘in flight’ and ‘at rest’ alongside immutable storage, QoreStor and RAPid are natural partners.”

“In production, we’re seeing storage capacity savings of 75 to 85 percent,” said Kyle Chapman, Lead IT Systems Engineer at Precisely. “Using QoreStor with Veeam is certainly meeting our needs. We’re also using QoreStor with Quest NetVault for backup over NDMP [Network Data Management Protocol]. Jobs that used to take 52 hours — more than two days — now take 19 hours.”

Galway Clinic to become first Irish Hospital to enable patient access to health records

ASHTEAD, UK – 17th November 2015 — /BackupReview.info/ — Galway Clinic is undergoing an ambitious project to become the first hospital in Ireland to enable patients access to their Electronic Health Record (EHR) by November 2016. To achieve this, the clinic has installed MEDITECH’s latest EHR platform, MEDITECH 6.1, and is using BridgeHead Software’s RAPid™ Data Protection suite to ensure that the MEDITECH system, as well as the rest of the hospital’s data, is fully protected and recoverable in the event of a system outage, data corruption, loss, or major disaster.

“At Galway we pride ourselves in leading the way with healthcare technology,” said Raphael Jaffrezic, CIO at Galway Clinic. “It’s important to us that we empower our patients to take control of their own care and to become an active player in their own treatment. We are, therefore, upgrading our EHR system and aim to put this in place by November 2016 to become the first Irish hospital to provide patients access to the EHR.”

As part of the project, Galway needed to ensure they employed a fully comprehensive data and system protection environment to safeguard the MEDITECH application as well as other data from across the healthcare enterprise. Galway selected BridgeHead Software’s RAPid Data Protection, with the additional MEDITECH components, to create reliable, recent copies of all patient information that can be easily brought back into live production quickly and predictably, should it be required.

“BridgeHead was the natural choice for us when it came to backing up our entire data estate. They have a high level of integration expertise when it comes to the MEDITECH platform and they also provide us with great support to give us peace of mind that data from across the entire organisation, including all patient information, is always safe and instantly accessible should an outage ever occur,” concludes Mr Jaffrezic.

Healthcare data has unique characteristics that not all commodity, ‘off-the-shelf’ data protection applications are able to cater for. Whereas BridgeHead’s RAPid Data Protection suite is specifically designed for healthcare organisations. As a result, it is perfectly placed to handle data generated by the breadth of applications typically found within a hospital, and it offers the most appropriate protection methodology as best befits the characteristics of often disparate data. Additionally, BridgeHead has unique data backup and recovery capabilities for the MEDITECH EHR. Designed in conjunction with MEDITECH, these capabilities allow the RAPid Data Protection suite to provide a backup and archiving solution that supports all MEDITECH data and all the certified SAN platforms on which that data resides.

Tony Tomkys, Vice President UK & Ireland at BridgeHead Software comments: “We are delighted to help Galway Clinic ensure it provides a resilient, fully protected healthcare data environment. In the event of any unforeseen circumstances, Galway and its patients should be reassured that all data – clinical and non-clinical – is fully backed-up and can be recovered and accessed at any point in time without impacting day-to-day operations.”
